  • Papua New Guinea has called in the defence force to try to restore order in the capital Port Moresby, after riots and looting in the city. The unrest began after public servants across the country discovered their pay packets were about 100 dollars short. The government says a payroll "glitch" is to blame. Papua New Guinea correspondent Tim Swanston says the situation remains tense.
