    These paints are great for brushing but I cannot get them to airbrush consistently and give an even coverage. I've tried out of the bottle, with Mr Color Leveling Thinner, with water (amazingly bad), 15psi, 20 psi, 25psi, 1.8mm needle, 3mm needle (both Badger SOTAR) all deepcleaned between tests, with Tamiya X-1 as primer, Vallejo 77.660 (the recommended primer) as primer and just onto degreased plasticard. The coverage was so uneven that at one point I even thought I'd reassembled my airbrush incorrectly, so I did a quick flush and sprayed some Tamiya X-11 Chrome Silver but had no problems whatsoever.

      Do you live in a area with high humidity? I have always had mixed results, Houston and Savannah. I wonder if it is the high humidity or AC……

      From my experince, I find they are good to go straight from the bottle (after they have been mixed thoroughly mind you) no extra thinner needed. I airbrush regularly at about 25 psi, but with these paints, I've found that's too high for them, so I lower the pressure between 20-15 psi, and they flow on much nicer, and I have more control.

      Hello Melvin! You can use thinner and improver with our Metal Color range (or use it straight from the bottle) and also with our Model color range. This is a chart where you can check the ratios of water thinner you can use facebook.com/vallejocolors/photos/a.296855687010167/4144607128901651/?type=3
      Regarding the noozzle and pressure: 0,4 goes well and also 15-20 PSI should be perfect but you can change it depending on your needs.

    Many thanks. I used AV paint a lot, and recently have had very good experience with the metal series. The only issue I got is for 77657. I always made it too thick, so the surface is not so even. I don’t have such issue with other AV metals. Appreciate for any tips. Do I need to dilute it more? Am using 2.5 Bar / 30 psi. Also I feel a bit hard to observe whether / how the 77657 has been painted as it is very transparent… thank you so much.

      Metal Color is for airbrushing and does't need to be thinned. Model Color is brush formula and it's not for airbrushing techniques, but you can use it if you thin the Model Color paint with airbrush thinner,

    • @vallejocolors
      @vallejocolors  5 лет назад +1

      Sí, te recomendamos usar el Airbrush Thinner. Es recomendable usarlo con todas las pinturas acrílicas para obtener un mejor resultado y no atascar el aerógrafo. Si usas la gama AIR, estas pinturas ya vienen preparadas especialmente para el aero, y no es necesario usar Thinner, aunque puedes hacerlo si quieres obtener una textura más fina. Un saludo!

    Nice concepts. The silent video with airbrush sounds sort of sucked. Turned volume down quickly.
    Air brushing techniques seemed odd. You started and stopped over the parts. Instead of starting of the part, then going over it, finishing clear. Stops excessive paint build up.
    Finally, was that a gladius sword at the start? I thought they were bronze, not steel...

    • @martinbecka87
      @martinbecka87 4 года назад

      Honestly,it's because that gloss primer is rubbish. Dries into glossy but grainy surface which is not suitable for profi metalic finishes. Maybe different primer would help (but that would be a lacquer one) or just don't use it at all. Chrome or duraluminium are really great for waterbased acrylics and here is how I used them for nice metalic surface: 1. Prepare the plastic - smooth it with sanding sponge to at least 3000 grit. 2. Mix the paint with one drop of Vallejo flow improver. 3. Set the low pressure (optional) 4. Spray it in very light passes.

    How do these paints stand up to masking? (Tamiya tape for example)? Also how durable are they for handling?

    • @vallejocolors
      @vallejocolors  3 года назад +2

      You can mask our paints with two options (liquid mask or masking tape). We have available both and although Metal Color dries very quickly and is resistant after application, it is advisable to wait 12 hours after application before applying any paint masks or tapes.

    What pressure are you spraying at in this video.

    • @vallejocolors
      @vallejocolors  3 года назад

      Usually, when using an airbrush the pressure on the compressor must be 1,8-2,0 bar.

    Que lastima que un producto tan bueno y producido en España no sean capaces de hacer unos videos en castellano. Como siempre " haciendo pais "

      Hola Josep, nuestro producto se exporta a todo el mundo bajo marca española y fabricado en España. Pero nuestro público es un 75% de habla inglesa, de todas formas estamos mirando la posibilidad de hacer videos en inglés con subtítulos en español. No es la primera vez que alguien comenta lo mismo y es algo que se repite. Disculpa las molestias y muchas gracias por tus comentarios!

      vallejocolors Hola, gracias por responder. Si quereis aumentar la quota de mercado de habla castellana tendriais que invertir bastante mas en esta lengua, creo que es basico ya teneis una buena parte de la clientela de habla inglesa, abrir tiendas on-line como otras marcas nacionales eso también ayudaria bastante. Gracias y por favor editar en castellano que tenemos muchos modelistas del pais.

      I've been using the Gunmetal Grey with a brush, and it goes on really well. Just build it up in a few thin coats, and give the paint on your palette a stir every few minutes to stop the pigment and metal flakes from separating.

      @@darwinchee8722 Just a tiny bit of water for normal painting, or some Vallejo Thinner Medium if I want the paint transparent. They barely need it unless you're using them for blending or something.

    Buenas noches.
    Soy un chaval principiante en el tema de pinturas que está pintando un ejército de Age of Sigmar. Para ser sinceros, las pinturas Citadel son excelentes pero prefiero la gama Model Color.
    Actualmente uso el Retributor Armor de Citadel y quiero virar al METAL COLOR 725, ¿Cómo de parecido es? ¿Tienen ustedes una tabla comparativa? Las que he encontrado no están del todo completas ni son "oficiales".
    Un saludo y muchas gracias.

      Hello. Yes, you can. You do not need special protection to use our paints with airbrush. You can use your airbrush even with the window closed.
