When a single celled organism has better dance moves than you do
hahahahah
heheh good and SO relatable
Felt
She is prophecy on the Corona
It helps that they've got no bones though 😄 We can't compete with that.
This song probably has the highest level of vocabulary of any song ive heard!
Then you clearly never listened to an Aesop Rock song lol (no I do not mean Aesop Rocky, gross)
One of the reasons why I like them lol
Her lyricism is magnificent. totally out of this world
He's a protozoan, he's just a filthy protozoan
The roads are dry and dusty and we're taking in the scenery
Waving to the people in the fields;
This is life to me, as far as the eye can see
And you are dead to me
I was twisted up in Cwezi shrines and you were the anomaly
A conceited disease
Time spent in foreign lands is a cure, it seems
And it triggered a change in me
This is an unfamiliar strain, I have no immunity
Ravenous and unrelenting, pathogenic and parasitic
This is unclean and it has to be treated
Parasite in the bloodstream: this is unclean
And he's feeding, he's been feeding on everything
The roads were dry and dusty, we were taking in the scenery
Waving to the people in the fields;
This was life to me, as far as the eye could see
And you were dead to me
He's just a filthy protozoan
She's got such a magical mysticism within her voice aye. Love the dark imagery too.
I can hear a Garbage influence if I’m not mistaken
Fantastic - reminds me of something from Samual Beckett
Crazy dreamy

Pardon the delay please, RUclips's not sent me notifications in ages.
Garbage aye, and Siouxsie & The Banshees I hear most of.
the bacterias got the moves tho
They're vibing
lol!

Still one of my favorite songs ever
u have to listen to Keluar - Surface [Entremuralhas 2015]...another of her projects...this song is different muscian but her vocals but its good
this song hit different during a coronavirus lockdown
lol
Seriously it do
Yeah and they're even going to start treatment with anti-malaria medication...wtf?
Indeed, now its meaning is clearer than ever
Definitely!!
I love music artists that acknowledge the oddities of planet earth and life, and that don't waste their time singing about another stupid breakup and being cheated on🙄
This song is so real and honest about nature and the dark side it also has. A real classic
Lol tbh, I think this song IS about a stupid breakup. It is obvious she has a scornful perspective of someone else, "he's just a filthy protozoan", most likely an ex-partner.
She went to southern Africa to get a bit wild, caught a protozoon from a local who died.
THIS ^^
Yeah I think this is a song about a relationship but that doesn't have to be anything bad, as cheesy and cardboard cutout popular artists make love seem to be it's something beautiful, curious and also scary and I think Linea Aspera had an interesting perspective on this one where from my interpretation she compared a disease that she's never had to her hurt after an assumed breakup and how she has no immunity against the pain that it caused which is imo better than crying about being lonely and sad like most musicians do in their love songs.
Tbh there can be good songs based off breakups but I see what you mean yeah
I like everything about this: The sound, the lyrics, the video and the singer.
😋😋😋😋
same.
Reaserched the lyrics...do ypu know what the meta meaning us? I mean I know it's about malaria, but she personalizes this to a he. And why dies she mention chwezi shrines? Did it happen one time she was visiting Egypt?
@@Thesortvokter Another commenter said that guess is that its about a lover but they use parasites as a metaphor
Damn, I didn't know Shodan had such banger taste in music.
One of the best songs ive heard in ages.
WHAT A VOICE !
This is so great....how are people not playing this like crazy?
They Are! My friends from long ago (in California then, but many of us have moved to slower (less expensive states). I'm in Oklacoma. I've just about had enough of not seeing mountains nor the ocean, to feel the ocean's breeze coming in from Marina Del Rey, or to get splattered by the salty air up north, lost in a mid-kali Ventura flood (you should see the sea get angry in San Buenaventura!) or just humming in the darkness to get somewhere else, But OH! to swim out in the waves would be amazing right now! But I'm a filthy Protozoan. And I've no excuse for me: I grew up mostly Dead.
Like any good band from less known genres
It has over a million views.
Fu**ing Germany
What I want to know is who are the 300+ people giving the vid the thumbs down!
Is a shame that this band doesn't continue together doing more of this kind of sound, after all we'll enjoy their songs.
XODOMAs LAIR there were a ton of bands like this that came out at the same time dropped one album and an ep then vanished :( sort of sucks but at least we have what we have instead of nothing.
Well, we could always hope there will be individual pursuits at least (one of them should be good, if not both) or cross our fingers till they reunite? Maybe she gotmarried and had to ditch the bandmember. Perhaps we all wear lab coats, masks, and carry a can of RAID to threaten others we'll spray them over bad behaviour. Cheers! zo I am kind of reminded of coldwave band "This Ascension," though Dru sings very differently. Their band shared practice space with us (Plecid) in Santa Barbara...the music is haunting. Drusilla is possibly one of the most brilliant women standing. Listen to "For a Day" or "Ill Met by Moonlight" if you haven't heard This Ascension. Everyone likes "Isabella," too.
You should also listen you Keluar and Zanias, her other two acts. LA may be gone, but she isn't.
@@gothicmetal76 Look fam, don't get me wrong cause I find music from her other projects("keular" and "Zanias") to be rather fascinating. However, her new music is really not the same and unfortunately enough, it isn't as intense as it was back then when linea aspera was a thing. I believe that linea aspera was in fact, the best thing that they (Ryan ambridge and Allison lewis) could come up with and she was at her best at that time.
By the way, Allison lewis has just released an album called "Into the all". She took a different turn from her electronic style and moved towards the "atmospheric genre". I find that album to be impressive and in my opinion, it's one of her best works after linea aspera. It's on her channel(zevzevzevoa) so you may check it out yeah?
Pretty sure they have a new album coming out at the end of June 2019.
Im still listening to this song over and over again 🖤🖤🖤🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶
Zoe Zanias is truly brilliant. I hope she consistently makes more music and gets noticed by a larger audience.
I'm struck by a line in the movie "Only Lovers Left Alive". 1 characters says a singer is great and will probably become famous. The other character replies "Oh God I hope not. She's way too good for that!"
Went through my saved music from several years ago, this was on the list, still saving it 😊
It keeps playing in my mind....
How is this happened that such a beautiful band was active only 3 years (2011-2013) ?!?! So sad, because what they did was the masterpiece!!!
Pretty sure they have a new album out at the end of June 2019
I like this song. Her vocal is amazing!!
never heard of these guys - took me like 3 seconds to know that I fucking love this song, and it only got better
So dark and lovely

In another era this would have blown up like nine inch nails, i can't beleive this whole album isn't massive, such great unique industrial/goth etc
For years now it's been quite annoying constantly pushing groups like this into the 80s' / New Wave drawers... I believe Linea Aspera felt comfortable with that kind of image themselves, but in general this kind of music is (always was) plain timeless... That's the main reason why it will always stand the test of time :)
Agreed - the first synth music should be seen as the start in the development of futurist/ technological, timeless universal music & culture - hope this retro synth wave brings a lot more great new sound and artists.
good music... is just that
nobody was considering this new wave you clown
Another gem to add to my personal chest. These musics are kept very close to my heart. What an experience!

Why can't popular music be more like this?
Because popular music is crap and shit!
popular music is contamination
because then it wouldn't sell millions of units to brain-dead assholes?
Tiz' Better To BE "PoeticaLLy~PowerfuL" Rather- Than ""POPULAR"" .!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! €¥£ ^
Lol I don't this agree
Good luck ebola chan.
She's actually Malaria chan. The title of the song is an anti-Malaria drug.

I must admit I heard this song in Ellen Alien set and I fell in love with it ❤️
this song is composed of neat sounds and cool synths.
This is really good. Awesome, fucking awesome.

best synth-wave duo ever !
doesn't get old !
VV
Listening to her texts of this song and others from her Linea Aspera period "the jungle is hunting me" for example, and her being born in Australia and raised in Asia, made me wonder if this realy about her being infected with a bad strain of Malaria. In an interview she said she'd never go back to australia if there isn't a special reason for it. Then, living in Berlin... nordic and cold, far far away from the jungle that was hunting her, it just made me wonder.
Anyway, I am totaly in love with her voice,.
She is a sort of enigma, no wiki page, there is nothing about her, it is all about her music.
Great artist and I will be there when she is in town.
intricate and properly written save for but two mispellings.. "realy" and "totaly" are both spelled with two L's and now to engage what you wrote..
you have a peculiar taste in women, if what qualities found in her you subconsciously seek in others as she seems to be emotionally distraught and displaced in most ov her songs.
i do not know enough to fully commit behind that observation, but this song is as you've described with replacement ov events with characteristics found in a former person ov interest, it seems.
as for visually?
well.. i'd have to concur with your sentiment as it points to a physical debt you left unspoken that i can relate to as she's ov effect, similar in nature, for me as well.
pretty sure it's "the jungle is home to me"
The best Project. So good
Great song, great concept video. A+++
very interesting visual.
This song so special
My my, what a brilliantly spun tune.
Wow! My new favourite song! I am glad that I have found this diamond among all this stones.

You are AMAZING Alison. You have the most intellectual lyrics i've ever heard in music throughout your whole album. Can't wait to hear your new stuff with your new Synth dude!!! Keep up the GREAT WORK! Love your number1 fan xx
Nothing beats real 80's new wave....but this is GOOD...!!!
Amazing song, transfixing video.
How could i miss out on that for over 8 years ? Holy f*!
Definitely at her best when she made music with this guy, Ryan Ambridge.
Omg how did I forget about this banger
Alison Lewis and Ryan Ambridge made some fantastic music together. I know Alison went on and worked with other musicians, but honestly in my opinion she was at her best when she was working with Ryan.
Agreed, personally I adore her newer stuff too, including her music from keluar. But I believe she was at the peak her at this point of time...
Got this in the mail 3 days ago on Vinyl..ripped it to cd....and the rest is history.
guys: what's a czewi shrine? and more important: why did they stop making music together? this is the best new wave synthpop stuff I found since a long time. it's unique and very special.

Lol, best comment
Well a random person would not put scientific stuff in his songs :D
when you study biology you want to do something like she does in this video)
