Look at it this way, they broke another countrys law and the consequence of that is death. The Bali 9 knew exactly what they were getting into and they still chose to do it. Imagine how many lives would have been destroyed and ended due to the drugs they were exporting. Im not saying they deserve it as such but i definitely dont feel sad for them.
Yeah mate but look, the people that do the drugs arent in it for the intention of killing them selves(even though they are) and lets be honest herion is a lot easy to get your hands on then a gun, even through the legit way of getting one.
Uncle Tom Like Shooter said, everyone seems to think that killing these 2 has stopped a few people who would've bought their heroin from destroying their lives, not true, those people have just bought it from someone else
disappointed about people disliking this video. anyone disliking this will receive no compassion if they were thrown in front of a firing squad themselves
silentbutterfly89 amazing how some people are ok with the fact that by breaking the law you're subject to whatever inhumane punishments your captors are capable of conjuring i mean jesus they broke the law but the point is that things are very different from what they were 10 years ago and thus executing them was a blatant waste of two decent human beings which could have been avoided. basically you're saying they deserved to die by principle which means you're kinda fucked
A lot of people seem to be saying that you should be aware what the punishment is before you commit a crime. The severity of the consequences for a crime is largely irrelevant to most people who commit crimes for a number of reasons and this is why having incredibly harsh punishments has been shown to not have a significantly increased deterrence effect beyond a relatively low level of punishment. The reason the consequences are often unimportant is because most people who commit crimes either (A) think they will not get caught (B) are simply not aware, or not thinking about the consequences at the time of acting e.g. they commit a crime during a moment of panic, lust, rage, confusion, they are ignorant of what they consequences are, they have a moment of recklessness or foolishness, like teenagers who put their head outside train doors, they are intoxicated and so on, or (C) They are aware of the consequences and think they might get caught but they consider themselves to be in such a desperate situation that they have to do it anyway and take the risk, regardless of what the consequences are, this could be because they are being coerced by someone or because they feel they need to do it to survive etc.
some fucking real talk from Alex Williamson. good on you. I didn't really feel the same way but you're a legend and spoke that fantastically. certainly made me think
well, when you get off a plane to Indonesia, they do tell you, drug smuggling is punishable by death..... they knew the laws and rules. still love ya vids
I can see both sides of the argument, it was cold of the Indonesian president to not show mercy and execution for drug trafficking seems wrong, especially as an Australian, but at the same time, I'm sure all drug traffickers are aware of the death penalty in Indonesia and what those 9 people did was illegal and if they were successful, they would of brought potential death to those people in Indonesia. It's Indonesia's laws and the Indonesian President was voted in to be strict on drug trafficking laws. If it was me, I would of let them live their lives in Prison and offered parole as a sign of mercy, but it's Indonesia's laws, don't do the crime, if you can't do the time, the law is the law, you have to respect it, no matter what country you're in.
Alf Stewart I understand that Indonesia has strict drug trafficking laws but execution is just such a fucked law. If you lock a drug trafficker up for 30 years then I highly doubt that he'll be smuggling drugs after those 30 years.
This is a topic I could speak on for hour and hours about, and I was actually in bali when the executions took place. Here are some facts; 1. They were pulled aside at sydney airport, questioned (for which they lied and said they were going on a surfing holiday), and warned that info authorities were being informed. 2. They did not leave there hotel rooms for 4 days when they arrived. (DING DING DING) 3. They admitted to smuggling 5 TIMES prior. 4. They had already been caught bringing drugs into Australia once before. (They didn't fucking learn then!) 5. Andrew chan is responsible for putting a 16 year old girl in prison in Hong Kong. He threatened to kill her, if she didn't do it. I don't believe in the death penalty, I think it's barbaric and extremely outdated, but Australia had NO RIGHT threatening Indonesia and trying to tell Indonesia what they can and can't do! Also, of course they were rehabilitated. Everyone is sorry once they are in jail.
Very truthful. "Oh look these guys paint now, they want to spread the word of god" Fuck me I bet Manson would've put on such an act if he was able to get off free ahahaha
I saw this was posted by you and expected a joke, and was actually really surprised to see this was a serious video. I am really happy to see you are trying to spread the right message to people because there are so many misinformed or ignorant people putting their 2 cents into this topic.
As unfortunate as this is, it still has gotten way too much media coverage. Thousands of people have been killed in Nepal and I'm still hearing about these guys more......
I reckon the president of indonesia watched game of thrones last week and thought "fuck, that dragon chick is hot and she executed that guy so I'm gonna a do it". It's game of thrones' fault
My heart goes out the family although the boys did wrong they served the time and regretted theyre actions they also rehabilitated themselves it is sad and shocking that they were paraded for all to see but they absolutely held themselves in a very dignified way. Very sad to see another massive rugby league fan go out like that may they both r.i.p let the lord judge them
Australia FP, should have never tipped off (IN which is against the Law) Indonesian police, at least we learnt about the true nature of scumbag Indonesian politics early, so we need not make this mistake again.
Probably the most vile thing about this was the fact that they were shot, honestly, for them to be executed by firing squad is absolutely barbaric, let alone be executed at all
I love how there's lots of support for Andrew and Myuran in the comments of this video. Seems as if the majority of people on FB are completely heartless...
If you swim in shark infested waters while covered in slabs of meat, and you get bitten, it's not the sharks fault. They knew what they were doing, they knew the consequences, and it doesn't matter how long ago it was, it's the fact that they done it in the first place.
Jesse Wrangell Yeah, fuck those guys. They don't deserve another chance at life because of a mistake they made. Even if they seem like they've changed into good people they deserve to die.
Drawback I am against the death sentence. But I don't feel any sympathy towards those that are not only stupid enough to put themselves in that situation, but to also be selfish enough to not only hurt their families but also the relationship between 2 countries. Also the fact that people keep trying to shift the blame onto everyone other then the drug smugglers, and the fact that people have even suggested a minute silence (the same honor that we give our ANZAC heroes) for those people disgusts me.
Jesse Wrangell Yes I get that. They definitely shouldn't get a one minute silence or anything like that but the argument is about the death penalty and how these people don't deserve it because their crime didn't fit the punishment. Seeing as you are against the death penalty I've got nothing else to argue. We're on the same page.
KVPD That's my fucking point. People are being killed for illegally dealing drugs while people are being allowed to live freely while they legally deal drugs. Do you not see how dumb that is? How did you not get that? Do you know what irony is?
Agreed, if there wasn't such a demand for drugs by people who have the CHOICE to buy it, then maybe there wouldn't be drug smugglers in the first place.
If you say they knew the consequences therefore deserve it. Then would it be fair to say that all those who shoot heroin "deserve" to die of an overdose? They too know the potential consequences
The moral of the story is - dont mess with drugs cause somewhere along the line you will get fucked up ! Have balls to do the right thing - not to take stupid risks.
The law and punishment in Indonesia does not stop international drug trade, but what's the point? That it does does not stop crime altogether, does not mean, we should stop punishing crime.
Totally agree with you. I like when you get political. I mean I see it in your humor too but sometimes when using irony ppl can misinterpret the msg. I'm here for all of the serious talk and the hummor. Love your work!
The death penalty has existed in Indonesia prior to this case, and the vast majority of people objecting to the death of the Australians never cared, or paid attention. If they never got caught, they'd be financially benefiting from the crime they'd committed. They entered into the business knowing the risks, and deserve to face the consequences, regardless of what the consequences are.
Sometimes people are stupid and make bad choices. They really shouldn't get shot for it. But saying "drug users will find a way" doesn't excuse their negative behaviour. Giving people recreational drugs is a type of murder. You are destroying them (and their families).
The way I see it is, yes, it's shit that this had to happen, but they were drug traffickers. They knew the risk. Our government tried to reason with Indonesia's but in the end, they fell to the consequences of the crime. Let's hope we can prevent such events from happening again, instead of dwell on this one.
If our AFP weren't such lazy cunts and thought about the situation they were tipped off about instead of snitching to them corrupt cunts we wouldn't be in this situation.
So many people are saying that we should think of the poor parents who have to bury them now, which I can understand because it must be horrible. But why don't we stop and think about the parents of children who are addicted to heroin because of what these guys were doing. They knew what they were getting into anyway.
The penalties for drug offences in indonesia (ie death penalty) are well known to all, including Sukamaran and Chan. whether or not the death sentence for drug offences helps solve the drug problem is totally irrelevant .
Their country their laws, these guys would of known the risk and penalties if they were caught. Justice is swift even if did seem cold, but it will send out a message that Indonesia do not tolerate drug trafficking.
Obviously I don't agree with them being executed but the fact that all people seem to care about is that they're Australian as if that makes them special or different from the countless Indonesians dying everyday for the same crime. I don't see Australia fighting for their freedom or against these unjust laws but specifically for these people just because they were born in this country. Personally I have no sympathy for those idiots they knew the consequences, but my heart goes out for their family for losing them over something so pointless. Also if the government would have let them off it would have shown weakness and may have encouraged more people to try it knowing they may just get off. The fact that they were given a minute of silence shows them off as some sort of heroes when just the other day thousands of innocent people died in earthquakes in Nepal. You've been watching to many current affairs Alex

Weak minds destroy lives.
Yeah mate but look, the people that do the drugs arent in it for the intention of killing them selves(even though they are) and lets be honest herion is a lot easy to get your hands on then a gun, even through the legit way of getting one.
Yea I guess so but still you have to feel for the families of the people who were killed
Uncle Tom Like Shooter said, everyone seems to think that killing these 2 has stopped a few people who would've bought their heroin from destroying their lives, not true, those people have just bought it from someone else
Yeah man but in the end, they got greedy wanting an easy way of getting money, they broke the law and suffered the consequences.
Australians live together Australians die together.
RIP Myu and Andrew
Man this was the deepest video you have ever made. You actually made some really valid points. You are a very cool guy
Is this a foreshadowing into Shooter's descent into journalism?
spoocyguy no
disappointed about people disliking this video. anyone disliking this will receive no compassion if they were thrown in front of a firing squad themselves
Listen to loominaty, they fuk u up!!
Loominaty Confirm Meh i know im not stupid enough to do something that will put me in front of a firing squad
I wouldn't want compassion considering I would never break the law. Jesus fucking Christ.
silentbutterfly89 amazing how some people are ok with the fact that by breaking the law you're subject to whatever inhumane punishments your captors are capable of conjuring
i mean jesus they broke the law but the point is that things are very different from what they were 10 years ago and thus executing them was a blatant waste of two decent human beings which could have been avoided. basically you're saying they deserved to die by principle which means you're kinda fucked
Loominaty Confirm Good thing I don't sell heroin then.
Now it's just the bali 7

Adrian .C FUCK HAHAHAHAHAHA
jayrod jones to true man
I think everyone forgot they were apart of an international drug syndicate. Middle man or not you do the crime....
Agreed but it's their laws not ours.
Fantastic words, better than any news story I've seen so far. Laying down the truth, fantastic.

Quarky_ ignorance is no defense as they say.if they hadn't of done, what they weren't supposed to be doing, then they'd still be alive.
Quarky_ If you think drug smugglers aren't aware of the drug trafficking laws in Indonesia, that is pure ignorance.
Alf Stewart I understand that Indonesia has strict drug trafficking laws but execution is just such a fucked law. If you lock a drug trafficker up for 30 years then I highly doubt that he'll be smuggling drugs after those 30 years.
Wow, extremely well said.
ShooterWilliamson, you get so much of my respect for this mate
Agree with everything you said there. Sometimes its so hard to explain to my friends/family why they didn't deserve to be shot.

They knew the conciseness... It was their stupidity that got them there.
Eric De If stupidity leads to the death sentence, you may want to check up on your spelling mate.
Eric De Not quite the right word, consequences would be more appropriate.
KVPD You also don't get sentenced to death in civilised society for breaking the law, brother. I love your work, don't go changing :)
It's a culture that doesn't really comprehend compassion for those that have undergone personal restoration. Such a pity.
I'm just fucked over with this...R.I.P Andrew and Mauran
Well said. Well said
It's like a serious version of Russell Brand's youtube channel.
Muffin Time And makes sense, Russell Brand's a fucking idiot, he should go back to making movies
Spoken like a true Aussie. Your a dead set legend
Bogans are pretty logical people they are just munted most of the time
Well said I'm glad you were serous about this subject
A serious video, I'm surprised and impressed
So much respect, you said it perfectly
Shoots serious? Fuck yes. Very well spoken.
Honestly, despite you not always being serious, in this video i have to say i completely agree with you
Keep it up man I like hearing your views on things
superb work, just superb

Enjoying these new more serious vids. Definately think a combination funny and serious videos would improve the channel
Fucking good on ya mate! It's important to get the word out about injustices and your opinion on this makes people like you even more!
Australia FP, should have never tipped off (IN which is against the Law) Indonesian police, at least we learnt about the true nature of scumbag Indonesian politics early, so we need not make this mistake again.
Probably the most vile thing about this was the fact that they were shot, honestly, for them to be executed by firing squad is absolutely barbaric, let alone be executed at all
So bloody true. What a waste. Poor guys rip
Well done mate, you are still the loosest aussie bloke ever 👍
Great video mate, I always find myself agreeing with your more serious videos
There is no overstating how iniquitous this crime was.

How did you not get that? Do you know what irony is?
Well said mate, well bloody said. 👏🏼
Too true. Couldn't have said it better myself
I want to put president widodo in the pillory for 72 hours unsupervised in a public area.
Agreed, if there wasn't such a demand for drugs by people who have the CHOICE to buy it, then maybe there wouldn't be drug smugglers in the first place.
Its called justice, justice is humane.
If you say they knew the consequences therefore deserve it. Then would it be fair to say that all those who shoot heroin "deserve" to die of an overdose?
They too know the potential consequences
Yeah they do know the consequences but they still chose to do it and they deal with the consequences
Good on ya Alex I whole heartedly agree
Heroine kill LESS then firing squads
Life in prison is learning from your mistakes, being shot! How can you learn from that once your dead
The moral of the story is - dont mess with drugs cause somewhere along the line you will get fucked up ! Have balls to do the right thing - not to take stupid risks.
I have to write about Indonesia for geography I'm thinking of saying “hard drugs" and then walking out of the room
Bro, they did it like twice before. If they weren't caught they'd still be doing it.
The law and punishment in Indonesia does not stop international drug trade, but what's the point? That it does does not stop crime altogether, does not mean, we should stop punishing crime.
More of this please
Well fucking said!
well said, totally agree.

Funny and smart. I like you Alex.

I agree 100% but does no-one REALLY finding it ironic that this is coming from a guy who's channel name is ShooterWilliamson? :p
He needs to see this send it too him
Perfectly said
Very well said, couldn't agree more
ur a good guy mate.
If you don't like the consequences of a rule, don't go fucking breaking em.
Sometimes people are stupid and make bad choices. They really shouldn't get shot for it. But saying "drug users will find a way" doesn't excuse their negative behaviour. Giving people recreational drugs is a type of murder. You are destroying them (and their families).

Capital punishment should be reserved only for pedophiles, rapist, murders and lads.
Bottom line is: If there's demand there will *always* be supply. No exceptions.
Excecuting some low-ranking drug smugglers ain't gonna change shit.
But then there's the thing of that if they didn't get caught they would still be doing it to this day
Agreed. Wish I could see you on the first, oh man, im sorry. Was going to but.
Spot on Alex.
And remember, that a large percentage of the Bali bombers who committed mass murder, are now walking free.
Might be the case if it were yesterday? All life has the potential to grow.
john smith On top of that, the fact they paint or their actions have nothing to do with it. It's human life
So many people are saying that we should think of the poor parents who have to bury them now, which I can understand because it must be horrible. You trying to take Russell brands trophy or something? Good commentary. Keep up the good fight.
Fuck I love you Alex you said all the things I have said for the past 10 hours 👍
What happened to his other video about the executions?
Well said shooter!
On the ball Alex Williamson these men have been innocent for years now and they can't have been executed for something that happened 10 years ago
thank you so much
Widodo said they couldn't keep them anymore was costing too much money well hopefully stops other drug dealers making the same massive mistake
what happens when you get blazed shit gets serious
They gambled with their lives and lost. No refunds.
I don't think that the death penalty is right. But they new the consequences. And in every airport it says that the death penalty is the law.
Obviously I don't agree with them being executed but the fact that all people seem to care about is that they're Australian as if that makes them special or different from the countless Indonesians dying everyday for the same crime.
