Hi Jay! To be honest, I haven’t watched a video in a while because Paris isn’t so much a part of my life anymore and I’m not interested in the travel stuff as much, but I definitely watched THIS because I am invested in you as a person and your life story after so many years of watching your videos. I care about you and what happens to you. As I was watching I had a thought about a possible direction, putting some pieces together with writing, creating, sharing. I am wondering if there is a “self help” book that is waiting inside of you. The things you have been working so hard to figure out and grow from might have nuggets of wisdom for others. Anyway, I get stress that gets to the level of coming out in pain and distress and I hope you can continue to manage the stress. Best wishes to you, my friend.

I selfishly want this channel to continue forever. There have been a number of exceedingly lonely times where your videos have provided connection and some mirroring that was sorely needed.
    That said:
The last thing that you should do is continue if it is impacting your health and wellbeing or the success of any of your endeavors.
Paris in my Pocket has been an absolute godsend in my last couple trips to Paris as well.
You’re successful and a bright beacon to others in more ways than you know.
Thank you for being. Keep it up.

Hey Jay. I’ve been watching your videos for many years and for me what keeps me coming back is that 1) I’m curious about people’s lifestyles in other places (menial day to day stuff and projects as well) 2) Paris is a fascinating place, so catching glimpses of it on the go is awesome 3) the chill vibe and music relaxes me, I like watching it during breakfast 4) last but not least, it doesn’t hurt that you’re very charismatic, positive, and interesting guy.
In summary, just catching you doing you in Paris is good enough for me.
Sincerely wish you all the best with your challenges

Jay-Longtime listener and Patreon member. I originally found you because I wanted to move to France and watching your content gave me a way to be in contact with France everyday and the dream life that I wanted. Fast forward a number of years now and I have moved to Paris and while I don’t necessarily need the Paris content I do refer it to others often and when I am visiting the city…I reference it frequently to reacquaint myself. Now, the thing that has really kept me here is the process of watching your personal growth journey and using that as a way of questioning my own. As you have been willing to share your struggles and your growth I have found it to be inspirational and that is the content that keeps me showing up. Your journey is inspirational and you don’t have to do anything to make that so, just keep being you and allowing us to see the real you. I recently celebrated your French citizenship and was inspired to know that one day that is also now possible for me! Bon journée Jay!

Your past does not define who you are now, embrace it and stay well! ❤

I just wrote a whole thank you speech, but I decided to break it down to: I came for the Paris content and stayed for your personality.
I'm pretty sure that's what your community is here for. You can't really go wrong.
The "20 in 20" series, being guided through the Louvre or ranking croissants were so fun and helpful, because I like being prepared.
And I still love the Paris content, but it's because of the way you present it.
I would really enjoy getting to know more of you (only as far as want to share of course), like the phantasy writer side or daily life in Paris.
I wish you all the energy, luck, success, inner calm and love that you need and deserve.
    Cheering for you from Cologne.

We first found you from a 20 in 20 video. We were planning our honeymoon trip to France in 2023. We were looking at hotels in Paris and wanted to check out where they were. We loved the video so we used your others to plan where we wanted to go as we only had three days in Paris.
We carried on watching you because we liked watching and buying into your journey.
Moving on you were one of the reasons we moved towards discussing relocating to France. Combined with our experiences of the country and watching you and a couple of others, especially Les frenchies we were helped in coming to the decision to start the process. We are now in the middle of purchasing our forever home in the Charente, after successfully receiving our visas.
We continue to watch, partially to catch views of scenery that remind us of our wonderful trip, but also catch up with your story.

Seriously though, I hope you feel better soon. Rest up and get yourself centered. We’ll all still be here when you return. For me, I came originally for travel information, but I stayed because I wanted to follow your daily life. So, as long as you’re willing to share what you’re up to, I’m happy to keep watching and supporting you! Cheers!

I stayed because I like YOU. Your thoughts resonate with me. Your personality grounds, comforts, and uplifts me. I never end one of your videos feeling worse. Rather, always better. I hope you’re able to continue both channels but not at the expense of your mental or physical health. Sending you hugs and Cooper some ear scratches. Thanks for bringing joy to my days.

I’m traveling to Paris in a few months and went down the planning rabbit hole this evening, which led to a Reddit thread that recommended your videos. I started by watching the videos most relevant to my trip (about practicalities and the area we’ll be staying in) but then I found this one after quickly becoming enamored with you and wanting to learn more. You obviously have a gift for connecting with viewers and your vulnerability here just amplifies that in a really beautiful way. I’ll be purchasing your guide and look forward to keeping up with your content in whatever form (and on whatever timeline) you ultimately choose. Cheers from someone really new to the party but no less happy to be here. ❤

Hi Jay, I first stumbled upon your daily vlogs at the start of the pandemic, and it was purely by chance. What really drew me in was how you shared the journey of navigating Paris as a traveler-the beautiful experiences, your growing circle of friends, and the excursions beyond the city. But if I'm being honest, what kept me coming back was the genuine hope I had that you'd find your happy place. There's something in all of us that wants to root for the "underdog," and I found myself wanting to stay connected to see you hit your end-of-year "champagne bottle" goals, and more recently, reach your dream of French citizenship. Life has a way of getting busy, but I always find myself circling back to your videos. It's been wonderful to see the progress you've made, and the inner growth you're experiencing. While I’m not typically a dog person, I have to admit, I’ve grown quite fond of Cooper, and I still get a lot of joy from your daily Paris adventures. Please take care of yourself-whether the challenges you're facing are rooted in somatic anxiety or something more physiological. The world is definitely better with a Jay Swanson in it!! Wishing you a happy holiday season and an awesome 2025!
    Take care!

I went through a tough 5 years with my family which took a toll on me physically and mentally, and I realized that without my health, I have nothing. Focus on your health, reducing what is causing stress, and find peace. As far as this channel goes, I need nothing from it … just keep be being yourself and find a rhythm that works for you. Why am I here? Well, 23 years ago I went to Europe for a month in-between my college semesters. I visited Rennes, Paris and London. A bunch a years ago I got an inheritance and wanted to return to Paris. This time with my children who are 8 and 11. In my year of planning, I watched almost all or your travel videos and based our day-to-day travel plans around the insight I got from your "Paris in my Pocket" travel videos. I also started watching your regular content because it gave me an insight into who you are, what your tastes/perspectives are and just enjoy the journey that you are on especially watching you engage with the Paris Olympics. I did my second trip to Paris with my kids from Christmas Day to New Years Eve. We got an AIRBNB, traveled the metro like a pro, didn't get pick pocketed and saw all of the sights we wanted to see and then some. We even took in the Parcs des Buttes-Chaumont which is a place you recommended a while back. (We happened to be in the neighborhood getting French language Pokemon cards for my son, as well as pastries and cheeses from local shops in the area). I can't wait to see what you put together next and would love to see you doing "walking tour" style videos where you visit certain parts of Paris in a day revolving around a theme like Earnest Hemingway, Jazz or Amelie. Tell me if its worth it to visit Amelie's restaurant (I've been told it isn't) or whether you feel inspired visiting the parks that Hemingway frequented (I'm told he was so destitute he strangled pigeons so that he could have food for dinner) or what I could expect out of the music scene. Or visit other places. I would like to see the world and it does help when you see if for me first! Take care and great videos.

Love the glasses. I’ve been watching for at least 6 years, as I started when I lived in Rennes and I moved to the SW of France in February 2020. I like listening to your voice. I like seeing Cooper. I like seeing you with friends, traveling and being in Paris.
As a school nurse in the states, I tracked kiddos with head and tummy pain, to see what class they were in or if they would come to the clinic on a Friday afternoon. Stress and pain are not a comfortable combo. I agree with a self help book as I feel you have lots of words of wisdom.
Sending healing support from Gensac and again, let me know if you need a nurse on call. ❤

Watching this I realise I’ve been watching since 2017 after a trip to Paris and wanting more. So initially I was here for Paris content but along the way have gotten to know and care for you ( as much as one can as strangers via RUclips 😀) so I’m here for all of it! I think the fact I’ve seen growth in you has kept me coming back. The filming and editing side has always been top notch. ❤

Your tips about the IDF card made life much easier. We did other stuff too but your top tips made everything go smoothly. Thank you so much. I hope everything works out, I’m sure it will!

First of all, my wish is for you to be well. Nothing is more important than your health. I found your videos a few years ago and look forward to each one. To answer your question, I keep coming back for a couple reasons: Paris is one of my favorite places and your content allows me to re-live what I love best about the city. Your videos are truthful - not everything is great and you tell us that - and I especially like how you find out-of-the-way spots to share.
Second, I come back because you're real without being maudlin. It's too easy for people to think content creators have it made and live this fantasy life. You're honest with us, which makes you relatable. Take care.

Been following you since 2018 - what have I gotten from you? What do I want to see more of? Well my visits to Paris were forever changed, as a Boca Raton babe I’d never take a subway. Your tips and tricks for getting around on the metro turned Paris into my own Disney and the monorail 😂 Great spots to grab a rose on the seine, take photos, how to order simple water, uncovering Arr. and what they offer. You are the Rick Steves of a new generation! Not to mention great videography and music, I’ve copied your style for my own clips for our family, which will be timelessly cool. As a person we love your realness your flaws and constant introspection. Don’t stop ❤❤❤ 🎉!

I started watching you in 2017 for my first trip to Paris and have enjoyed your videos. I pass them along to friends who want to visit Paris and they have appreciated them as well. Everything you said in this video really resonated with me. I appreciate your candor and vulnerability. As for future videos, I like when you visit surrounding areas of Paris. Also, a now vs then look at a few of your older videos might be interesting i.e. how things may have changed or what you would have done differently. At any rate, I am wishing that this coming year brings you and Cooper better health overall. 🫶🏼

I found you for the Paris content and 2 years later I'm here for the inner work that you're doing. I live in a rural area in the US and emotional intelligence/maturity just isn't valued or encouraged. Familial obligations and conditional relationships are the status quo. I really value that you're willing to share your journey because I struggle with many of the same themes. So you're helping at least one person feel a little less alone ❤.

I think the glasses are good. And estranged family issues are so hard. My spouse came from abuse in his home, so I'm an outsider in some ways to the situation but also a witness to how all of those family dynamics play out as adults and it's very hard at times. Wishing you good luck getting the health answers you need.
I started out watching because of tourism info 5 years ago, but now I'm just kind of interested/invested in how you are doing and how your life is going.

Interestingly, you said it in your closing: I watch because I enjoy having Paris brought to me. I was finally able to visit a couple of years ago, and enjoyed it immensely--largely, I believe, because your information gave me reasonable expectations as well as great travel advice. But now that I'm back home and not likely to return to Paris soon, I very much enjoy the glimpses I get from you for occasional virtual visits--and not the touristy stuff that so many other sites do, but Paris as a living, breathing, modern city--warts and all. So thank you!

I was introduced to you via a Nathaniel Drew video a few years back and while I definitely love the Paris content and your refreshingly unique filming style, I think the reason I stick around the most is the personal struggles you share and the high level of self-reflection that you engage in to work through them. I think part of your magic is that you demonstrate/elucidate to/for others how to actually start working through mental blocks (or the struggles of balance in daily life), whatever they may be, in a really practical and productive way for themselves. It's inspiring. I mean, we can read all the self-help books we want, but sometimes we just need to see/hear what those techniques actually look like in the real world to want to engage in them ourselves, so thank you for being that teacher/mirror. Related note: Sorry you're going through another period of struggle/stress. Hopefully you find your way through it with relative ease.

First, for me, you resonate as an “Everyman”. You come across as honest and real. I started watching you during Covid, initially drawn by my interest in France, and then I was hooked by your personal sincerity, and your drive to “find” a high path to self realization. I love the travel aspect of Paris in my Pocket, and hope to see it grow; but my interest in, my feeling of respect for, and my sense of loyalty to your Jay Swanson channel is what keeps me rooting for your happiness and your success. Your content speaks to my own inner being, my own questions, and my own desire for self actualization. I will be interested in, and looking forward to just about anything that you feel called to share.
My sincerest good wishes for happiness and success in your romantic relationships, friendships, business projects, creative endeavors, and family dynamics; and especially for your good health…and for Cooper’s!
Anyone would be fortunate to have you as a friend, a confidante, or a partner.
I like to believe that while it is important to find joy in our lives; that also, it is the difficult times that end up giving us the most satisfaction when we look back and see the benefit we have received through facing them, and working through them. I feel certain that you will find the strength and good fortune to get through this next phase of your life, triumphantly, with dignity, and wisdom.
Thank you for sharing your journey, and being a beacon of light and hope for those of us who follow you. 🌞✨🌻

Hi Jay. From someone who's been following a long time I see you and Paris as inextricably linked - it's a winning formula, but that can feel constraining and I think you feel that sometimes. But I would embrace it - Astaire and Rogers were great on their own, but their double act was so much more than the sum of the parts and it's kinda the same with you and Paris - like it or not, you're great together :) I really love your content when it allows me to have my finger on the pulse of the city (where to go, what's happening, meeting interesting people), even when I'm away. Your audience is maturing and will become more discerning - try leading them into more of the things people inevitably appreciate more as they move into their 30s and 40s - art, history, culture, dining, etc and if that seems daunting then a few interesting Parisian guests on your channels could help broaden the Jay+Paris universe. Get this right and you'll have a sustainable business model for years... just my 2 bits.

My feedback on why I watch this channel: 1) It is interesting seeing how you live in Paris and how different it is than living in the States. 2) Like many I started watching because I was going to visit Paris for the 1st time and wanted advice on the Metro, what to see etc. So I got some information and I visited. 3) What has kept me watching is, and this will sound weird is, I like you and your thoughts. You are likable and it feels as though you are a friend or someone if I knew in my life, I would want to hang out with you. So I watch to see what is going on in your life. I like the way your mind works and want to hear what is going on with you.
There has not been one video that is boring or mundane. So whatever you want to put out I will watch. Hope this helps. Good luck on your financial struggles and with dealing with pain. I wish I could help.

I like watching the vlogs about the ordinary lives of people in France. Maybe you can do some travelling to French villages and hidden spots (that's cheap to travel), which might be good for your mental health too. A vlog about hospitals and healthcare in paris for locals and expats, the differences, the good, the bad and the ugly (based on your recent experience ) might be a good idea.

Hey Jay, I’ve been watching your videos for a few years now, at first because I have a big fascination with Paris. You seemed interesting and entertaining, and I wanted to follow along to see where you would go in your life. I felt like you were someone that I could relate to, someone I would want to be friends with in real life. I have to say the last couple of years I began to question whether watching your videos was worth my time. It seemed like you had reached a plateau or something. Like something was holding you back. BUT, after watching today’s video, I’m so glad that I didn’t unsubscribe. Somehow, you explained things about your life that I always wondered about. I feel like you were your authentic self today, or at least as much as you’re able to at this time. I just wanted to let you know that I believe in you and I believe you are on the right track as far as your video content. I’m rooting for you to find what you want in life. Please continue with what you’re doing. You are a kind, good-hearted person. I can tell that you really care about people. Please take care of yourself. There are some of us out here who benefit from hearing what you have to say. Blessings to you, Cooper, and your family.

I relate to your experience as an immigrant, and I admire how you approach life and share your story with us. I find it inspirational. First I love you in glasses. It's a very cool look. I follow a handful of influencers who have had to change their content, especially women who concentrated on fashion and all things girly. But times are changing, and a few have dropped out completely from YT. The surviving ones are now sharing their thoughts on their place in a changing worldwide culture. Some are sharing more of their art in videography, arts and crafts and just small day to day moments that are like little jewels. I find it more interesting then just the former superficial content. So go ahead and share everything, your thoughts on what's going on in Paris and France, your travels, your walks through Paris doing just ordinary day to day things, your art and coffee chats and enjoying French food, books and if you are comfortable with it, how you handle your family dynamics. I think their are an awful lot of people who can relate. Don't be stoic - take care of yourself.
