Dragon Age: Inquisition SOLO Dragon (Vinsomer) with Rogue - Nightmare

- Soloing Vinsomer off the Storm Coast on nightmare difficulty with a dual dagger / subterfuge / tempest rogue (level 21).
This isn't hard at all with the properly crafted gear (in the case of this dragon, +health, +melee defense, +lightning resistance) and daggers enchanted with superb dragon runes. I have a lot of armor pen, too.
Attack the front legs to avoid tail swipe and breath attacks. The frontal swipe / stomp does almost no damage (but stuns), even on nightmare. Keep under the dragon; close the gap if it pushes you away and stealth when necessary.
Use a superb life heal amulet in case you screw up and stand in the lightning like I did. I gathered 3 full bars of focus before the fight. Using thousand cuts will chop off a good 30% health of most dragons, cutting the time to defeat them significantly.
FYI - GEAR that I used. Masterwork procs for daggers and armor with best possible (that I know of) mats for each stat.

Prowler Gloves - +electrical resist, +dex
Prowler Greaves - +electrical resist, +bleed on hit
Helmet: Helm of the Drasca
Necklace:
Superb lifeward amulet (though I didn't need it - if you aren't at risk of dying, the better alternative is a dex or cunning amulet)
Belt: Superb belt of melee defense
Rings:
Enhanced spinning blades ring
Enhanced thousand cuts ring

That 1000 cuts special is WICKED. I had Sera do it and I was like "wow! I'm gonna build a rogue!" LOL But, they die fast too.

man, cool fight, could you tell me how you went stealth in 2:50? Because i have no idea how is this possible? Some kind of stealth chance in equipment?

are you using normal attacks at all? why does it look so cool? your character is swinging alternating arms then the other direction and then spinning...as oppose to the normal attacks i am use to seeing in other videos where it's just stab stab double stab?
do different daggers have different attack animations?

It's actually mechanically easier to solo these thunder dragons because you don't have to deal with the anti grouping debuffs. Does take quite a while tho, especially with rogues who don't have anti armor shit.
Was easy with my Knight Enchanter but then again that class is completely broken so no surprise. Kinda funny that they never managed to balance the melee mage since it was also the most broken class in DAO.
Were did you find schematics to craft those daggers?
Honestly I can't remember :/ I can't find it on Google, either. I only know they are the Masterwork Dual Curved Blades.
You can get them by finding the schematics as a random loot drop or using an inquisitor perk to get the Masterwork Rouge Schematics from the "Power" section at the war table.
I think they are given when you unlock more schematics with inquisition perks in the war table. I think it was on power
Finish the tombs in the hidden waste. You'll get the schematic at the end.

I did him nightmare as a rift mage solo.
And i had found crappy fade touched items too (no +guard gear).
Used the death ward staff.
Thousand Cuts not consuming Focus during Flask of Fire has been confirmed as a bug by Bioware so it will be patched out. Build can still work with Spinning Blades instead. It'll still be strong, but it won't be anywhere near as OP as this.
I didn't use the thousand cuts bug in this fight, so it's definitely still OP without it. Still inferior to KE, since this is one of the easier dragons to solo as melee.
Ok this is awesome, I would love to see your whole build, specifically the passives.
In double daggers, I took all the abilities on the left path and their improvements, plus twin fangs / ripping fangs.
Parry can be useful but for this dragon, since the melee damage it does as long as you stay under its front feet is very minimal, it's not necessary, so I didn't take it.
Then I have everything in subterfuge except the right 3 talents (easy to miss, knockout powder, mercy killing), and everything in the tempest tree except bitter chill.
I'm trying it out on some harder dragons (Emprise du Lion) and it's still doable but more difficult to conserve health potions because they take longer to kill and their damage is harder to avoid than some of the lower/mid level dragons.
okamiyazaki yeah I would like to see build and gear at the begining of the fight. maybe you could do it for stronger dragons.

I'm a sword and shield user and I manage to make 48k blow on the dragon. It was crazy and odd critical strike.

If you go to the forces section on inquisition perks there are upgrades so you can get more focus
I did something on the war table and I was able to create the daggers... My daggers are 501 dps you could probably get little better I'm not sure

If you don't already know, it's going to be the rogue with the tempest specialization.

If you use your Flask of Fire then you can do 2x Thousand cut, fucking OP.
I've heard they're planning on patching this because it's unintentional. Even without it, Tempest is still one of the best specializations in the game (didn't use 2x thousand cuts in this fight, just 1). All of the flasks are pretty OP and can be rotated to enhanced their power. Stealth makes it too easy to escape from big attacks.
Well if you don't use that, KE would be better, my KE soloed the same dragon at lv 16 and did it slightly faster, yes in NM too.
HyperOpticalSaint Yea I think KE is the best class spec for soloing. I was also at level 21 in this, making it a bit easier. I don't think I could have succeeded at 16 without the gear that I had.

Ahh, this is the lv 19 dragon, then I was 18 then, I remember soloed him at 1 lv below.
okamiyazaki So,between KE and Tempest, which is more *fun*? I get that KE, based off all available info, dominates whatever you throw at it, but I'm looking for some fun gameplay as well, and I like the idea of a mage/rogue hybrid (I get that a Tempest isn't technically a mage, but the flask abilities look pretty magic-y).
is this game just super easy or is he overleveled/overgeared? because you shouldnt be able to tank hits like that on hardest difficulty playing a rogue....
He is powerfull uf you use The correct abilitys and equipment (leyendary ones) you are very strong
+Valfalos Red templar assassins are more dangerous than dragons. They can do 1800 damage per series of attacks. Dangerous to solo characters.
Dragon fights are about attrition.

This was a beautiful dragon but unfortunately she made the mistake of shoving her ass in my face when she was fighting that giant i vowed revenge and lets just say i have a nice new floor covering

I mean.. solo.. no damage or risk at all if pulled to the dragon with the electric stuff on you. with a party it gets kind of harder lol

No , there are 10 different ones to fight each harder and higher level but they don't respwan
Somewhere down the line they decided to stop making Dragon Age a strategic role playing game and turned it into a grind/gear game. Stupid mmo's had to ruin all the good RPG in the world.
The game is perfect, its the people that choose to play it like fucking retards.
Because this particular player has exceptional gear that helped him defeat an extremely hard enemy, this game is no longer a strategic RPG, but instead is a grind/gear game? If you really abuse crafting so much... why not Guard on hit? Or Life on Hit? You won't even need potions...
guard on hit is useless if you are not a tank. (Nightmare) Full guard is 25% of your hp above. And you need 40-100 *depend on material) hits without getting hit to build that. And lose more than a half with 1 hit,

If you take fade shield doing anything with a KE automatically forfeits you from the special list.

My god that looks...dreadfully dull. Why would the Dragon not simply take to the air and either land on and smash the character or better still, swoop down, lift them up and chew them to pieces?
I can't believe a modern RPG would release with what is essentially a decade old, MMO combat system. This is...terrible.

There are some dragons in the game that will take most of its combat to the air several times but once their life is depleted to 30% and less, they will be too injured to fly so they will stumble.
Think instead about whether dragons are suitable enemies in games. Think before you write stuff.

Karl Tanner to be honest in dragons dogma if you make the right build dragons can die within seconds if you use the assassin vocation so there not that challenging or fun

He doesn't do it in this video, but a upgraded fire potion (bugged) applies to the thousand cuts ability, so you can use your focus skill multiple times, and since with those daggers he has the ability does 85k damage on a single target, yeah its op.
Tempest are not op untill you use Flask of fire bug.

Yes, it's nightmare. The amount of damage you do and take is dependent on your gear. If I had tried this before crafting gear specifically made for killing this dragon, it would have taken me 25 minutes to kill it. Also, this is one of the easiest dragons that never does much damage, except for the lightning attacks, which can be avoided. Try it with a rogue - you will see how little damage it does from its melee swipes. Also, don't forget I'm level 21.
what craft item was it so you can heal yourself as you attack?
