    Lisa, I admire the way you are true to yourself. On the one hand, "It doesn't matter if it's not, you know, completely accurate". On the other... I counted 6 passes with the scraper.
    Also, the soap is adorable!

      Thanks Denise, I know I do struggle with the 'well it doesn't matter if it's not perfect' I'm not saying my things are perfect but I always remember something that was taught to us when we were children by our Mum, she had a saying that she used often 'If a jobs worth doing, it's worth doing well'

    Thank you for continuing to educate and inspire. It was simple but it eluded me. I often infuse my olive oil with natural elements but made way too much work for myself by not simply withholding the olive oil from the batch and adding it to complete proportion when needed. I also need to remember to add the plain oo to any uncolored segments. Thank you for sharing your process

    Love the soap, and that brilliant orange color! I've always wanted to try a folded lemon as well, but just couldn't see paying the astonishing price. I've seen it at Wholesale Supplies Plus (Crafter's Choice), New Directions Aromatics, and Bulk Apothecary, but I'm sure there are other sources. Of those three, New Directions is the best price, but that doesn't exactly mean affordable (for me, anyway). Maybe Santa will bring some one day... 🎅 🍋 🤣

    So, all this talk of cocoa got me fancying a hot chocolate. I resisted until you started mixing the cocoa powder and talked of clumping problems. Yup, I identified. You made me think about how I use a little tia maria with cocoa powder and one of those tiny milk frothers to blend the cocoa perfectly. (you're welcome... The technique and tip are both worth their weight when making drinks... Not soap.) Well, I had to stop the video for a few minutes... I found I needed to get a mug of cocoa sorted. Well, it's cold, it's the run-up to Christmas, and... Well... Other things!
    I return to the video, and watch keenly, trying to remember I must go back to watch about folded oils... And then you go and do it. Graphics of talking gingerbread. I've wiped down my iPad screen, but I'm not changing the bed throw at silly o'clock... I'm just going to not sleep on the wet patch.
    Thank you for that raucous laugh you gave me. I think the oils had better wait until morning now 😂

    • @IDreamInSoap
      @IDreamInSoap  Год назад +2

      Thanks so much Marielle. There is no paprika smell at all in the soap, which is common for most plant infusions, the scent doesn't survive the saponification, only the great colour.

    hello ma'am i am one of your subscriber no. 1 fan ☺️ can I ask a question? I live in the Philippines, there is a lot of Coconut oil, and Palm oil is relatively cheap.. compared to olive oil, castor oil and others, it is very expensive to buy online. Coconut oil 60% and palm oil 40% or vice versa.. Ma'am how many super fat %? I will use this.. I know you are busy, but please wait for your reply. thank you very much Stay Safe God bless 😘🥰

    • @IDreamInSoap
      @IDreamInSoap  Год назад +1

      I've never just used those two together, but there's no reason not to. You will get a nice hard bar of soap. Coconut oil can be quite drying on your skin, but people do make 100% coconut oil soaps and say they are wonderful, but they tend to use a very high superfat (10-20%) I would probably do 60% palm and 40% coconut as a 1st attempt (make a small batch) with a superfat of about 10%

    Is false traced caused by the olive oil? I make tallow soap and just made a lavender essential oil soap that did a false trace (before adding the essential oil). Several times. I soap pretty hot, 120-130F because I use almost all hard oils and beeswax, so it definitely wasn’t too cold! I was thinking it might have been the alkanet root infused olive oil?

    • @IDreamInSoap
      @IDreamInSoap  Год назад

      It wouldn't specifically be the olive oil and in fact the olive oil is quite unlikely to actually have a false trace as it's a liquid oil, but if the olive oil (or the lye solution) is cold when it's added to the other oils, those solid oils will get cold and start to solidify, which give the thicker batter that looks like trace but it's not - I hope that makes sense

      If you find cocoa powder irritating, I wouldn't use it in your soap, use something like a mica (if you don't mind using them) this is OK, unless you are using this recipe as one of your assessments in the UK (I don't know if you're UK based)
