I am so grateful I grew up in a time when the only way to get wrestling info was from the magazines. Just remembering that feeling of going to the candy store and seeing a new magazine was in stock. It made me so happy. And Bill Apter is a big part of that time. Great interview.
The gold standard in wrestling journalism wow and great shout-out to West Palm Monday nights in the70's because of Jack and Gerry and so many others my childhood was awesome. by far my Favorite of all the episodes I'm biased a little toward the Florida Championship Wrestling cuz WPB is home .....PLEASE HAVE BILL APTER RETURN for more🙏
Best show yet Mr. Brisco and JBL, I could listen to Bill Apter all day. The historical aspect of your business is fascinating. To have a full appreciation for today’s product, you need to know how they got there. I believe the wrestling business is cyclical and will someday return to the “baby face vs heel” style. I hope that when you have a chance to have Mr. Apter on your show again, will ask him if the title change between Sammartino and Rogers was a work or a shoot. Bruno claims that Buddy Rogers did not know what was going to happen, and that Bruno told him “do your best, because I’m gonna do mine”.
Such a great interview. This guy knows everyone and everything. He has great stories. Thank you. Mr Layfield, what was so concerning at 49:45? I suspect a kitty.
Great interview. I was in middle school when I was selected to be a correspondent and call in results to Bill for matches from Tacoma Dome and Seattle Center coliseum. Good times!!
Great interview. Mr. Bill Apter - a true legend and icon of the pro wrestling business! How many of us would go down to our local corner pharmacy and peruse his wrestling magazines back in the day? Here in Philly, PA, my first exposure to territories such as the NWA, World Class, and others were through wrestling magazines before they started to air on TV here!
Bill Apter mags and Wrestling Revue kept me in touch of what was going on in the USA pro wrestling world. Being in Australia we had our own WCW TV show but outside of the Americans we had coming in the only way knowing what was happening in the 60s and 70s was the major magazines The Wrestler Inside Wrestling Wrestling Revue etc.
If Jerry Lawler is 5 ft 11 I'm 6ft 4 and I'm barely 6ft. Lawler is 5ft 8 tops. Couldn't believe how short he was when I wrestled on show with him at Danbury CT Police Athletic League back in 2000
Bil Apter will always be a Legend in Wrestling Journalism

@@jamie.777 I know you mean "obscure" but I got a good laugh of picturing a kid and his mom in a "obscene" book store.

Classic match watch along... Andre vs. Stan Hanson would be awesome

Ringside for hundreds of famous wrestling matches. Best view in the house
I loved those magazines! Every month I'd ride my bike down to the corner store to buy my Apter mag. Amazing stuff.
Bill Apter was the Edwin R. Murrow of wrestling. Gordon Solie was the Cronkite of wrestling. And I am the King of Siam.
Bill Apter is the greatest wrestler of all time!!
this episode has made me a fan of the show, Gerry Brisco is a funny dude and insightful
Love Bill’s book! I’ve read it twice and it was a great read both times. (You guys know he wrote a book right?)😆
Another great episode.🤘
He did? Why didn't he mention it?
@@sarahdunworth9989 They must’ve been too busy talking about Brian Blair’s book.🤷♂️😆
@@markgabrich4788 He has one too? They like to keep secrets. 😆
Bill Apter should have an office job with WWE. What a treasure
I bought many a "Apter Mag" from about 1980 through the early 1990s. Fond memories
Bill will be in the WWE Hall of Fame
Fantastic interview! Great podcast!
I read Bill's book 📖, great read
Great interview, you guys are hilarious
Nice
Mr apter what was your favorite p.w.i magazine story and why
if it wasn't for the fink we may be on tusslefest 36 now ...
Don’t forget Dan Schaket, my spelling close but he was a writer in the magazines but wrote in the favor of the bad guys until his untimely death
Apter's Dusty Rhodes' impression sounds more like Mike Tyson...
Slick Willy ,
