Olympus already solved my problem , thank God it was under warranty. What happens is that was changing the lens and not turned off the camera. Whenever you change the lens should turn off the camera and thus avoid contacts believe damage
I get absolutely no comment from Olympus on this problem. It's the poorest customer service I have ever witnessed. I will return to Cannon products immediately.
This is common problem...easily solved.First leave the lens on..and press and release the lens release button on the camera whilst the camera is switched ON. If the problem still remains switch the camera OFF...release the lens...press the body contact springs in with a clean index finger...especially the last two on the same side as the lens release button.(don't ask!)...reconnect the lens ...switch. The camera contacts are notorious for making intermittent connections....but usually respond to some of the above.I have also had luck taking the lens on and off whilst the camera is switched on....but only as a last resort as I have a suspicion it is possible to blow the main smd fuse on the mainboard doing this due to power surges.
Try resetting the camera back to the default settings. Do this with the Reset/Myset function located in Menu 1. See pages 79 and 146 in the version 2 manual or 77 and 142 in the older manual.
Why the hell do you change the lens without turning the camera off? You are looking for problems! 15 years ago I've learned that... And the cameras back then didn't have 1/10 of the electronics complexity they have now.
Just happen to me..... the shutter (and view finder) works WITHOUT the lens but nothing with the lens. I tried everything listed here and nothing. Bummed! I call them Monday. Is their any other workout/fix?
I have several Olympus cameras including (2) M1's and I have never seen this problem until yesterday. It progressed. First, by restarting the camera, it would work for a couple of shots. Now, even if I shoot without the lens as you showed, it doesn't work when returning the lens. Did you have to send to Olympus? How much did it cost? Any way to fix myself? thanks David
I have the same exact problem since October. Sent twice to Olympus for repair. Asked them to watch your video. They insist nothing is wrong with the camera. It seems to happen at lower temperatures. They 'clean & restore to factory settings' and return. Still has the problem. Have you found a solution?
Dean Kolts - they should have done this first time! It’s a known problem, someone at Olympus has messed-up, and this IS losing them professional customers!!!
I have the same problem. I bought the camera in January, used it a few times. Now it seems to jam every time and I can't use it. Did you ever get a solution?
This is horrible! I was thinking of getting this camera since it would be likely more cheaper now but it seems to have a lot of problems. Shutter shakes around safe shutter speeds and now this one as well.

Easy to solve this problem
All cameras in this digital age have problems sometimes...Did you turn it off for a while???...
I solved my problem, was that when changing the lens with the camera turned on there was a short circuit in the camera
Did you have to send to Olympus? How much did it cost? Any way to fix myself?
thanks

+Dean Kolts Olympus has now agreed to replace the camera for me.
+Dean Kolts Dean, after replacing are you still having the same problem?
