I got lucky just a few weeks ago and got one for $55 on eBay. It's disappointing that they didn't have the 2012 mixes on CD but I this was before the age of super deluxes. It would be awesome if they can release it as a replica - hopefully in an affordable, widely-available edition - with CD 1 containing the 2012 mixes and CD 2 containing the original mono mixes. (For a second I _wondered_ where I've seen the "What's in the box" guy before...he played a photographer in _That Thing You Do_)
You got a great price on that! It’s a nice box. Hope someday they’ll do a super deluxe remix of the album. As for the What’s in the Box scene. That is from UHF the Weird Al movie. Hilarious movie. Gedde Watanabe played that photographer also in That Thing You Do. He was also in Sixteen Candles.

I imagine they will eventually release the entire core catalog in remixed form, but they seem to be following the UK albums so Capitol MMT probably won't be part of the schedule. If I was in charge, I'd retire Past Masters and come up with a new 3-CD/8-LP compilation. I have a playlist on my iTunes with the following sequence: CD 1 - Love Me Do (single) to Paperback Writer/Rain (same sequence as Past Masters 1) CD 2 - Penny Lane/Strawberry Fields, AYNIL/Rich Man, Hello Goodbye, MMT (EP sequence), Lady Madonna/Inner Light, Hey Jude/Revolution CD 3 - The 4 songs from Yellow Submarine, Get Back/DLMD, Ballad/Old Brown Shoe, Across the Universe (WWF), Let It be/YKMN, Free as a Bird/Real Love/Xmas time
@@tapsilogic that is an amazing sounding replacement for Past Masters! Would be really cool in a super deluxe set with a nice book and a couple of bonus discs with sessions and outtakes and such of those songs.
@@BeatleDustino that sequence in an official compilation would fix the jarring jump from Rain to Lady Madonna in PM2. I saved a playlist on my iTunes that's basically all the official Beatles releases in chronological order. Playing through Paperback Writer/Rain and Revolver then Penny Lane/Strawberry Fields->Sgt Pepper->other era singles->MMT EP made a lot more sense sonically than the said jump in PM2.
@@tapsilogic it is a smart idea to hear it in that correct order. It would not be as jarring. I wish my iTunes would work for me well enough to do that.

did you notice an improved image quality on the Blu-ray in relation to the DVD of this release ?
Yes. The Blu-ray looks fantastic! This is such a fun box.
