Holy Moly! Those vinyl containers are a work of genius AND art. Get them patented and a manufacturer sorted right away guys. Thats your million dollar idea right there! I'm going to try and make some for my boat :-)
We all need a locker of shame. I loved the drone footage. I don't think you told us about the water taste test! Here is a heating idea for when in the cockpit - from my motorcycling days. A 12V heated vest. You would use a 12V socket in the cockpit on a coiled cord so you can move around. Some vests are battery driven, but less effective IMHO. Heating your torso keeps everything warm (when your body senses cold conditions, blood is withdrawn from extremities to your core to protect your vital organs. This is why your feet and hands suffer. Keeping your torso warm keeps blood and warmth in circulation.
I really like the drone shots where the drone is not moving but your ship is! looking forward to more sailing/ship moving videos, even though I also like the DIY fun stuff!
I love this channel. I look forward to it the way I used to look forward to my favorite TV shows. So when I laugh about this, it's with love. The door to the head that contains a bluetooth enabled toilet is secured with masking tape. A boat owner's work is never done.
I've watched a lot of videos of fiberglassing, woodworking and metalworking but I think Ava's vinyl baskets are about the coolest thing I have seen. They sure would have been handy in my RV'ing days.
There is something very funny about having all that incredible high tech gear including walkie talkie headsets but still having to seal the loo door with masking tape!!! :)
So impressed you are pronouncing Chichester correctly!!!!👏👏👏 ( not the chychester way) 😀😀😀 I like you vinyl locker units , possibly sewn in a line at top to strengthen?? Cheers Warren
Two potentially useful mods: 1 a camera in the technical compartment for quick check ups, even a cheaper model would be good. 2 an anti kick switch cover for the water maker switch.
A good spot by the rigger that a pin was missing. Something you both should check before every sail. Certainly go up the mast before any long crossing. Check the anchor is secure.
Good job on the boxes. You two have your hand full with project & the upcoming wedding. But it would be great to hear how you 2 meet. Maybe a few story about for 1st few dates. What caught your interests?
Those vinyl containers are a great idea for my camping kitchen kit. Thanks Eva! My sailing days are over, but thanks to you guys I can get my weekly dose of sailing and spiffy DIY right here in RUclips. Allready looking forward to next Sunday.
I have to agree, I think that I will be make these for my holiday trailer. Being able to see what is in the box and custom fit to boot will be a great addition.
I have one of those filters and they are great for preventing dirt from getting into your tank. A suggestion, don't hold the nozzle above the filter bowl. That causes air bubbles which can't go through the filter mesh slowing down flow considerably. Hold the nozzle below the surface of fuel in the bowl so as not to cause bubbles. The flow will improve a lot. Still not as fast as not using the filter but then you take your chances with how clean the fuel dock tanks are and how often they change their filters. I'm a bit of a fanatic about putting only the cleanest fuel into my tanks.
I just thought of something @ 12:15. I am a drone enthusiast and have been watching countless sailing channels and I would say 100% of the time the drone shots are beauty shots of the boat sailing around someplace with cinematic sweeps and pans. However, I just saw this shot at 12:15 and was like HOLY COW what an amazing use of a drone! Especially coming into a new port and not being entirely sure of the layout (charts and ipads can be a bit tricky). Actual visual reconnaissance is brilliant. Excellent idea Mads & Ava!
Your clear plastic baskets are fantastic. Very useful way to do it…. Hint… we have made clear tool bags similar to these. Velcro or zippers can be easily added and you can use standard webbing on the seams to make them stronger. What’s nice is you can see the tools…
For outside heat electric blankets or heat pads are cheap and awesome. There are electric heaters for motorcyclists and hunters, but both tend to be more expensive. Of course you can always go old school and fill a bottle with hot water and cuddle that under your foulies. Cheers
An easier method to filter the tank would be to install a pumped filter separator and a small charge tank. Fuel goes in that tank, then goes in the filter, from which it gets pumped through the sieve and separator into the main tanks.
If you find the plastic bins edges too 'droopy' with repeated use, you can make a small slit in the rim and insert a length of #12 awg solid copper wire with your choice of jacket colors (red for meats, green for veggies, etc.). It's flexible and can be repeatedly bent into whatever shape you need. The Big Box stores will sell it by the foot... 🤔
That pantry is looking good. Making the shelves into draws will be next. The water maker works great. I have 300L of fresh water tankage which is allot of shore runs with 20L drums, if only there was a fuel maker🏴☠️
Remember to keep all your diesel receipts. (Ideally, get them stamped by the marina too.) Red diesel is still legal in the UK. But it’s banned in the EU, so you’ll need to be able to prove it was legally purchased once you reach Ireland.
Like the vinyl baskets great to be able to see what's in them, I have that non slip matting in the bottom of my lockers to stop stuff shifting side to side as we roll well when were towing the trawl sometimes
Athena is a very good looking boat.. If you are taking suggestions, a nice bright red stripe on her topsides would pretty near break the spiff-o-meter, imho.. you guys look like your having fun, good on you!
Was so GREAT to see more of Ava!!! She's really getting comfortable in her newfound position in front of the camera! I truly enjoyed her DIY on the vinyl "baskets/boxes," what an excellent idea, with exceptional results. I'd have never thought of that one! Videos seem to be getting better each week. I'd like to think that Ava has something to do with that too. :-D Thanks for bringing us along! Oh yeah, you did good too, Mads..... ;-D LOLOLOL
Allways nice when you see a boat with a man on the warps and a woman on the helm. With those radio sets the person on the deck can pass information back to the helm if nervous
As to an outside heater, I'd recommend a battery powered lower back heating pad. They aren't expensive and your lower back is a great place to apply heat since a huge amount of blood flow passes through your kidneys. When you heat the blood in your core the central nervous system responds by sending more blood to your extremities which keeps them warm.
We used to do something similar with those chemical hand warmers and a large scarf when I was a kid. Fold a large scarf long-ways and wrap it around your lower back outside your shirt but under your coat. Tie it off in front and then tuck a couple activated hand warmers into the fold right over your kidneys. Worked GREAT on those long afternoons outdoors, even if your gloves were wet it hardly mattered. You stayed warm for hours.
I think, for the vinyl boxes, I would have sewn the top seam first, then sewn the sides. No, I take that back. I think I would have just gone to the local home store or Ikea and bought the standard cloth ones that fit as closely as possible. Just make sure the fabric is synthetic fiber.
This project is beyond belief. You deserve a medal, a standing ovation, a case of beer for life, and a good psychiatrist to explain how you got through this. And I complain about the work I have to do on my smaller boat? Super Sailor Man!
Lost the motor going into that harbour when the tide was on the way out. It creates a bar as it does. Frantic panic to get the sails back up on a racing boat with no furlers and other yachts motoring from behind….. all hands on deck and look lively!
It’s great that after watching these videos every Sunday evening for years, I think I started with installing the Reflex Stove in Obelix, you are in my back yard in Chichester Harbour. Welcome, both of you. The vinyl storage bags are brilliant. Fantastic idea.
Oh No! Mads is rubbing off on Ava, now there's two who template everything! :-) P.S. Love the Channel and catch all the current editions within a few day but it's taking a bit of time to catch up to "now".
Try the Crown & Anchor, Dell Quay. Walk North from the lock hug the shore for a mile or so. 50°49.151'N • 0°48.911'W ....Ish Been in hospital for 5 weeks, missing sailing. The sight of West Pole really hurt. Spotted your hull berthed in Gosport a couple of months back.
Get a small dehumidifier it will sort any condensation in your sized vessel in 24-48 hours and prevent more from forming if you get one with air conditioning youll kill two birds with one stone.
I so look forward to your episodes... Your both so creative an crafty!!! I loved the clear vinyl boxes... So perfect!! I learn something every week!! Thanks for sharing your lives with us... Fare winds an following sea's guy's ✌🏻💗😊❣️
if you haven’t done this already maybe put something like a strong piece of cardboard or a thin piece of plastic on the bottom of the basket for support
Ava adds a nice balance to the channel. It's DIY fun +.
Tape is OK for a door handle. You know what's even better............A Real Door Handle! I can't wait to see the new doorway.
Ava has the magical pointing finger. Love it.
Ava is killing it
These vinyl containers are a tremendous idea! Well done, spiffiness factor 10 and worth of sail life ingenuity (despite no sanding was involved…)!
Came here to make the same comment, these are a genius solution and look excellent!
Vinyl boxes are AWESOME!
Holy Moly! Those vinyl containers are a work of genius AND art. Get them patented and a manufacturer sorted right away guys. Thats your million dollar idea right there! I'm going to try and make some for my boat :-)
WELL DONE EVA...Fantastic idea!!!!!!!!!!!! plus they turned out GREAT to say the least
The boat is looking great and that vinyl pantry box idea is very nice. Good work!
@ 3:15...it's amazing really, how you guys make all these RUclips videos and speak so clearly without any lips.
Cracking idea for the vinyl 'baskets' to organise your shelves, well thought through and (as important) executed. Well done Eva.

Looking great guys
Your video format is very easy (entertaining) to watch!
So good to see you both out and sailing !
Totally spiffy idea on the pantry "boxes"!
Woodwork! Woodwork! Woodwork!
"Breaker, breaker, 10-4." 😂🙌
Oh, yeah, love the drone shots! 😀
Just awsome! Great vinyl bags!
So impressed you are pronouncing Chichester correctly!!!!👏👏👏 ( not the chychester way) 😀😀😀
I like you vinyl locker units , possibly sewn in a line at top to strengthen??
Cheers Warren
great update guys. cheers from PEI Canada
Super cool with the drone shots at the arrival! 😎
Great idea with the baskets 😁. Great content as always!
You are very resourceful. Job well done.
Two potentially useful mods:
1 a camera in the technical compartment for quick check ups, even a cheaper model would be good.
2 an anti kick switch cover for the water maker switch.
Love the vinyl boxes. I’ll make some for IZZI.
A good spot by the rigger that a pin was missing. Something you both should check before every sail. Certainly go up the mast before any long crossing. Check the anchor is secure.
You guys are great.
@04:45 I think you mean "Split Pin" - the Cotter Pin is what you are placing it in!
Good idea for the baskets, cheers
Great show.
Really enjoying the content Ava adds to the channel. It was great before, now its twice as good! :)
Her contribution is impressive, certainly.

Spiffy sewing project ! Can’t wait to see the new trim and woodwork…until then, Sea Yoo !!

Cleverly done with those vinyl baskets. They turned out amazing.
You make a fantastic team :) I love to see you make this journey :)

Very nice marinas way nicer then any I have seen here in the states.
Yea I was just thinking tupperware style boxes but that really worked what you did there.
An easier method to filter the tank would be to install a pumped filter separator and a small charge tank. Fuel goes in that tank, then goes in the filter, from which it gets pumped through the sieve and separator into the main tanks.

Heavy gauge weed cutter plastic cable would also work.
Great video, thanks

Your channel has evolved so well. The boat has come along way, obviously, but so has the videography. And Ava has melded into the channel seamlessly.
Remember to keep all your diesel receipts. (Ideally, get them stamped by the marina too.) Red diesel is still legal in the UK. But it’s banned in the EU, so you’ll need to be able to prove it was legally purchased once you reach Ireland.
Been away for about 6 months. Wow great job!
What a charming couple.
Like the vinyl baskets great to be able to see what's in them, I have that non slip matting in the bottom of my lockers to stop stuff shifting side to side as we roll well when were towing the trawl sometimes
It was nice to see Eva tackle her own project, and what a clever solution. Well done!
Awesome👍👍👍🙂
Love the idea and design of the container made from transparent vinyl!
Athena is a very good looking boat.. If you are taking suggestions, a nice bright red stripe on her topsides would pretty near break the spiff-o-meter, imho.. you guys look like your having fun, good on you!
What a nice surprise to wake up to (6am Eastern Time US).....a new Sail Life video posted earlier than normal!!!
Was so GREAT to see more of Ava!!! She's really getting comfortable in her newfound position in front of the camera! You might want to put a thin plywood board on the bottom of your vinyl bags so they don't flop around when you pull the bag off the shelf.
Great suggestion.
"Now get to work!" LOL
Great drone video while underway. This should be nearly as much fun for your viewers as well!
The drone footage is improving greatly.
Good video.
Allways nice when you see a boat with a man on the warps and a woman on the helm. With those radio sets the person on the deck can pass information back to the helm if nervous
Love the drone footage.
Happy New Year, off to a great start.
Nice job on the storage containers!👍
As to an outside heater, I'd recommend a battery powered lower back heating pad. When you heat the blood in your core the central nervous system responds by sending more blood to your extremities which keeps them warm.
I prefer the sun myself to be honest 😁
I like the ororo heating jackets. They are around $150 as a system which is kind of pricey but it works great

The quality of work on Athena is continuing with Eva's contribution - well done guys yet another "Like"

Looooove that Ava is getting her own DIY profile in the videos. You guys rock
Sure is nice to see Ava’s contribution. What a treat! Thanks for the video and good vibes.
I LOVED this one! Thanks. So much for the sewing lesson Eva
Love the vinyl baskets!!
Fantastic video once again !!! Vinyl containers are a great solution ! Another tip in the tips book
Nice work on the baskets Ava. Love the 'marriage savers.' Take care and be safe.
Great drone footage of harbour entrance, Itchenor. Did they know you on arrival at Chichester Marina? Nice boat yard next door at Birdham Marina.
This project is beyond belief. You deserve a medal, a standing ovation, a case of beer for life, and a good psychiatrist to explain how you got through this. And I complain about the work I have to do on my smaller boat? Super Sailor Man!
Clear containers a nice opportunity for Ava to start a side business
The highlight of my Sunday Evening. How spiffy!
BTW love how the wife to be is getting good at ordering him around.
Great job Ava! I will copy your idea.
