1:14:44 That girl in the iron lung is the coworker of Helene. Helene said her coworker disappeared. She was put in that machine because she started to question.
I wonder do people in iron lungs become reliant on them or can they be removed because it's not like she was in one beforehand so she technically could just have it removed then again anyone who knows how to remove a iron lung is probably under doctor Randolph's control.
I think what I like the most was that while you have scary horrifying things, there were actually normal or peaceful beings. Like, the nice normal nurse didn't die, become extremely twisted and disgusting or anything. She was just... there, still trying to help the patients, she was just a normal person. It's a nice sense of relief and brings a bit of humanity compared to most games that just sends the player on a super lonely and depressing journey where all the allies dies or are screwed up in some sort of way
Helene wasn't normal tho. She had super speed. Instead of letting pressure from all of the work and her co-worker's misdeeds affect her, she chose to dedicate herself to help others. This turned her into a really fast person but didn't "damage" her like others. I do agree tho, it's nice to see normal people not be used as a kill count in horror game and it's even nicer to have them be nice yo you in return.
After seeing that part, I totally see why you teared up- Although, with what the Ominous Voice said; I'm guessing that's Astrid or what was left of Astrid as a human....
I got slightly traumatized the first time I saw a iron lung I don’t know why they are so unsettling. I feel bad for anybody who had to use one of those
That encounter with the girl in the iron lung(who I'm assuming is Astrid, considering the context) really blows. It felt like a swift strike to the heart, considering how fast most of us probably immediately thought to 'run from this monster'. Honestly, probably the best encounter in the game when it comes to making you feel empathetic towards a character.
Hi, I know this is early reply and this video is long time ago but I'm glad I watched this back on 2022. dang, anyways, I was scared for a moment until it was astrid and I hear her saying "wait.. You're not joseph" then she starts breaking down crying and it breaks my heart 💔.... wish I could help her...
I like that this horror story doesn't paint everyone as absolutely evil, they're humans who've been manipulated (through chemicals or something? the only hint we have as to what is that it's through ventilation shafts) and thus they still act human in a lot of fashions. The shock therapy nurse was kind once, and only uses it to help remove the pain while the one in the sick bay was just tired and pissed and the final nurse (although crushing the protagonist's jaw and teeth) was just doing her test and left us alone as soon as she was done. The chef guy just seems to want his personal space (and I can't imagine what having a soup pot body is like???) and the guy in the showers seems to be fine too. The only truly bad person seems to be Dr. Randolph for even doing whatever it was he did to harm them. Obviously, they still all act very strange and harm the player in various ways even when not killing the player, but they obviously didn't act like this before as the ominous voice informs us (as well as the riddle talking about broken oaths, these people clearly took those oaths with all the good intentions, and it was only the Dr. that led to the downfall of the place)
You seem to miss that puzzle given us by an ominous voiice specifically told us how each staff member except for grbage collector, Astrid and Helene all broke their hipocratic oath. You also don'ty take into account that every bad staff member was described as a bad person by notes, "death" pop-ups and protagonist's commentary. Sick ward nurse, instead of treating her patients, just sedates them and doesn't do any work that she should be doing, one patient literally lays in filth. Shock therapy nurse enjoys seeing her patients suffer, hence the wide green when she electrocutes us. Wolfram straigth up assaults his patients that's why Astrid tells him off at one point.
I'm German and I actually understood some of the distorted things they said, for example the nurse at 17:23 said "Kommen Sie sofort zurück" which means "get back RIGHT NOW" and that sounded so disturbing omg
@@NoOne-fv6yh Oh, Meat Soup _IS_ an actual German meal (and not just German; there's other kinds of Meat Soup around the world, from Chicken Broth Soup, to Beef Stroganoff, and so on). It's just that at Heilwald, the way they procure their ingredients is more suspect. And Chef Sauer (whose name is German for 'Sour,' as in Sauerkraut, 'Sour Cabbage,' and also kind of a German pun since he is both a very sour tempered chef and a cooked German man) puts himself in his work in the most literal minded way possible!
Dr Randolph is the only true villain in this story, he did everything, everybody else had a reason to do something, such as stealing something from them, even the scariest monster is this game is the kindest, giving you your required item simply because you needed it and couldn’t get to it, and when it realised it scared you it cried.

Abandoned hospitals were always creepy to begin with, and a basically dilapidated hospital run by humans turned into monsters (with a few exceptions) definitely cranks up the creepiness by quite a bit.
I'm assuming the "Ominous Voice" was Friedrich Erlenmeyer, who most likely despised Dr. Randolph's practices as much as Nurse Astrid did. The way he speaks so ill of Randolph, the way he claims to be against the Heilwald Klinikum, and also to follow the sort of effect that all of these workers at the Heilwald Klinikum have been mangled and malformed into grotesque and unrecognizable beings far from human (of course, men like Dr. Randolph himself up until the end, the muscled aquatherapist Wolfram and the mild mannered librarian Hauser are exceptions as they are the most normal people in appearance but definitely not in personality, as Wolfram stabs you with a syringe if you dare flee and Hauser will smash you into the Library if you dare steal).

these long videos are super entertaining, just causally watching them while sitting back with some snacks is genuinely a great feeling. Great video 👍
man I feel bad for the iron lung person, she just wants give us the medicine instead we avoid her and she apologized for scaring us even though it wasn't intentional
Thank you for continuing this I thoroughly enjoyed this game and your commentary!
you guys may think that the trashman is living the worse life possible, HES NOT hes just living his best life- since its always raining he doesnt have to smell the other trash around and hes constantly getting showered, this "trash" is actaully fast food because the fast food they dont use they throw away in the garbage, so he be eatin burger king, mcdonalds, wendys and everything good, he also has a bunch of newspapers and mattresses to sleep on so yea
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR PLAYING THIS I LOVED THE GAME SO MUCH!!
Nurse Helene and Mr. Trash Collector and Ms. Iron Lung are my favorite characters yet.
The one in the iron lung is Astrid.

Maybe the "loophole" is that because nobody dies at the clinic, they try and make them grotesque monsters to keep them alive
Despite most of this game being wonderfully surreal, there are no lies detected from 1:03:55 to 1:04:33, and then from 1:05:39 to 1:05:48
That's as real as can be.
This is the most unsettling horror game I've ever seen. And the most interesting as well.
