- Scleroderma (also known as systemic sclerosis) literally means “hard skin”. The disorder is characterised by abnormalities of the blood vessels, connective tissue and the immune system. It can affect the skin, digestive system, heart, lungs, muscles and joints.
What happens in Scleroderma?
In scleroderma, the body’s faulty immune system stimulates the fibroblast cells to produce excess collagen. How the body manages and ‘stores’ the excess collagen gives rise to the two major classifications of scleroderma: Limited Scleroderma and Diffuse Scleroderma with different patterns of involvement and symptoms.

im 39 y.o male ... i notice my abnormal autoimmune triggered instant and suddenly around 5 years ago, since then im hospitalized once every 2 month with various symptoms from Raynaud's syndrom, GERD, stomach ulcer, hypertension, heart arythmia, pancreatitis, kidney cyst, and lungs parenchymal band, pain on joints ... 3 years ago is first time im diagnosed with scleroderma after my ANA profile test turns positive for scleroderma, and last year i took the test again with same positive result, also biopsy results is confirmed scleroderma and vasculitis ... im changing my lifestyle and do everything i could to slow the progression of this disease, now im on oxygen support 6-8 hour per day, i can still drive short distance, limited walk and swim excercise ...

@@pamsincererereaction i have some tips for you ... i can recover quite a lot, no more oxygen support, all of those thick skin regain elasticity ... i can work again now ... here's what i can share :
1. check vitamin D level, i use suplement and sunbath daily
2. fix leaky gut by taking bone broth daily
3. maintain healthy and diverse microbiome with probiotic, i use kimchi and yoghurt daily
4. avoid inflamation as much as possible, eat healthy diet
5. regular daily light excercise (30 min walking) if possible
6. stay vigilant with oxygen level, kidney function, blood tension, blood sugar, do regular checkup (every 3-6 month to keep in track)
7. avoid stress, keep on praying, God bless you ...

Have you check your vitamin D level ? ... Fix leaky gut with bone broth (slow cooked for 20-24 hour) ... Eat diverse probiotic (now im using kefir and kimchi) ... For anti inflamation im using turmeric powder, moringa powder, curcumin powder (Half spoon each) ... Do some yoga/stretching everyday ...

There is NO known cure at this time. Many parts of her body can be affected. Get her to a Rheumatologist, or a Scleroderma Specialty clinic.

I've given all the pieces of the scleroderma puzzle to my primary doctor except the lose of my fingerprints!!
She still hasn't gotten it yet. Wants to treat each individual symptom one at a time instead of prescribing an autoimmune doctor. I must lubricate my skin daily or it will dry up completely. Skin over my face is stretched tightly as if a mask. No wrinkles for my age.
All organs involved: heart, kidneys, veins, intestinal, etc. Life is a nightmare at this point!
I flood my body with nutrients and feel a tiny bit better.

I am in the same position. Whilst I can’t right now afford to seek TCM treatment which normally is my go too.. I have found my UK GP’s not much help interms if they only address one symptom of this autoimmune condition. This week I had a breakthrough when I insisted on being referred to a multidisciplinary Rheumatology department at UCLH where autoimmune conditions are widely researched by the extensive team of consultants.
In the two years I have waited to be heard, I have been focusing on Vagus Nerve stimulation which has really helped me calm my system down, promotes rest and digest.
Keep strong 💪🏽 and keep calm on this journey as stress can exasperate symptoms.

Not in the UK, we have many medications like chemotherapy which I have weekly for life, it reduces the symptoms but cannot stop it or reverse it. Stem cell transplantation is in its infancy here but I am hoping one day it will be available to me and other suffers.
