Hi Jake, Great review as always. Between these and the MC Trainer 3, what would you recommend for the typical leg day? So no running, just lunges, split squats, leg presses, romanian deadlifts (not super heavy), some squatting etc. I do have a flatter foot (low arch) and I find shoes with an arch uncomfortable. Thank you
Thanks for this review. I also read/watched your review of the Reebok Nanoflex TR 2.0. How do the Nike Air Zoom TR 1 compare to the Reebok Nanoflex TR 2.0? Which would you say is the most versatile for moderate (some heavy) weightlifting, HIIT, plyometrics and short runs?
is this my best option for athletic based training/agility/speed/plyometrics/power or are there shoes from other brands u think are better suited in that regard? Thanks for the content!
Exactly my thoughts indeed: nice shoe for beginners and overweight people who are back to training after a long break, my case. I've been doing HIIT at a very intense rate before a work accident that forced me to undergo a rotator cuff surgery: no shoulder, no training 😑 Now that I'm back in the "business" I really enjoy those shoes, they're not THAT narrow to me, and my feet are flat and wide (specially with 25 kilos more than a year ago !). I can't fit in the Free Metcons or Nike Volley Ball shoes like the Zoom Hyperspeed for example, thats' why I do HIIT cardio plyo: I'm a 5.3 "tall" libero that needs explosiveness and speed, flexibility more than weightlifting, my go to exercise at warm ups are the burpees, best warm up for VB players IMHO. Like I've already said in your other video about these shoes, yeah I agree that they have to be mixed with other shoes like the Nano X1 to X3 (those were my go to shoes for years) that I'll use again when i'll get stronger with these TR1s, and also the Metcon Turbos that are more "barefoot" kind of, when my joint will get stronger. I've got some old but gold Metcon 7s that I love for weightlifting, really strong and stable heel plate. Rotating sure is the key to keep motivation ;-)

Ay, thanks for that! I rotate based on what I'm feeling and the workout I'm doing. I look at shoes as tools designed to help me accomplish different tasks. Instead of going all in on one style of shoe like a barefoot shoe, for example, I like to vary what I use based on what will help me perform my best. Some workouts I like an elevated heel while others I want more ground feel and a lower stack height. It's personal preference along with what helps me perform my best!

Hi Jake, I bought a couple of shoes to try. These were one of them and I'm still pretty unsure what to buy. I went to the gym when I played American Football but stopped after an injury an decided to focus more on music and university. This year I wanted to start again and look a bit more for my physical and mental health so I got a wellpass from my job and decided to hit the gym again. I don't plan on doing heavy lifting. More lifting with machines and cardio(treadmill, cycling, rowing machine and swimming). I bought a Nike Metcon 9, Nike Air Zoom Tr1 and an Adidas Rapidmove ADV. Hi Jake. Question for you. What shoes would you recommend for me? I play ball hockey. So lots of sprinting, cutting, stoping, starting on concrete. I’m struggling to find a pair that seems to make sense.
Hi, nice video! I am an absolute beginner and would like to run on a treadmill and start strength training. I do have weak knees. Is this shoe recommended? Plus point: it's on sale at my place (€60) For example, is the Nike MC Trainer 2 more suitable? (also around €60) Thanks.
For context, I have some Hokas, for outdoor running; but I don’t really want to bring two shoes to the gym. So this gym pair would be use 60% time for weightlifting and 40% cardio machines.

So I bought a pair of these and the dropset trainer 2's a few months ago and right from the start I loved the dropset trainer's but i didn't care much for the Nikes, they were uncomfortable and i felt for the price I should have gotten something better. Fast forward to now and I really like these Nike's , it took several training sessions to break in but once they did, they became one of my favorite cross training shoes. I wear them on upper body days and for most metcons and wear the dropset's on leg day. I wear a 10.5 in both of these shoes for reference.

I’m characteristically a heel-striker who rolls onto my mid-foot, then springs off of my forefoot with each stride, & so far I’ve found the TriBase Reign 6’s best, due to their relatively more forgiving rounded heel, flexible forefoot, & cushy insole. Still, I’ve found myself wishing for trainers with an even MORE cushioned/responsive heel, that’s also stable & flat enough for moderately weighted power/olympic lifts. Basically, like a TriBase Reign 6 with a bouncier heel for heel-striking. Do you feel like the Nike Air Zoom TR1’s are a good contender? Thank you. 🙏
