@@Steve_be just by the way, I've got 2 interesting cases in PS5s ;). Both react normally and end up with a white light and have some signs of the picture. Both have on the HDMI port 5V and when you connect HDMI 3.3V plus over 2V on the datalines. So, all looks normal. But, both have no picture after replacing an HDMI port. One when you pull the cord from the mains will show up the picture in the first stage of repairing the storage, but 2nd only pop the picture for a split of the second several times per minute. My oscilloscope is slow, only up to 500kHz, but, I was thinking if I should see a disturbed signal on datalines in any form. As it's a Ghz, I don't know if I'll see anything. Don't know how oscilloscope will present too quick signal if at all. I mean to do this test tomorrow.
Thanks. Good to see a flow of the UART process. I'm looking into getting into this, mainly anticipating such techniques being used on the PS5. Awesome stuff is that UART method, yes some faults won't be explanatory via UART or detectable but definitely for it to point out a bank of ram is a great tool to use. Glad you got this back up and running Steve, great video buddy and fantastic that you were able to compile a video from what you'd captured keep them coming 😉. For those wondering the cheaper programmer Steve mentioned is the CH341A Pro, while this device can be easily used we did find out the software available when purchasing the programmer doesn't always read the bios properly and misses a whole load of info. If you get multiple dangers on the validation process it's likely not read the chip correctly.
@iFix Consoles.. did you do the 3.3V mod on the CH341a? I had issues in getting dumps to match then i read about a design flaw (ch341a data lines are 5v by default). Once the hardware mod was done, i didnt encounter any issue.

Hi, friend. I have a big problem with this ps4 fat sac001. It is flashing blue light, it does not show anything through the uart port, I have changed the south bridge and it remains the same, I have also changed the RT5069A start regulator because I am missing 3.3V in the capacitor that I sent in the photo. Status showing dct -0 and dct-1 so it means 2 ram of upper side and 2 ram of below side ...means total 4 ram ..my question how do you know which ram needs reball?
Good question i use heat camera to see if i can see a cold chip if not i first try reflowing each chip if that dont help i replace one chip ar a time, i keep a set of reballed ddr mem for this reason Sorry for the late reply
I have a ps4 slim which is missing the hard drive. I tried new hdd and an ssd as well and full recovery pup file. Everything goes well but when it is time for restart during the update, the white light blink once and then stays solid white and ps4 shuts off abruptly. It does the same thing when i press power button for 1 second in safe mode also. In short the shutdown sequence freezes i guess. Have you encountered this issue?
@@Steve_be after multiple tries and restarts i was finally able to complete the update somehow. It was on 7.50. And then i played some old games on it works just fine the disc drive and everything. Wifi i didnt connect to the network but it works as i am able to view the network and 100% strength. Like for 2 days i tested. But then i go ahead and try to install 9.00, its the same thing. The problem is only during system update it seems. After copying the file, the system is supposed to restart thats when it turns off. Really weird. I will try again and again to complete the update if no go then will go with the UART. Its a sub 9.00 system these things are to come by.
what software did you use to read the uart, i have just managed to read the chip and patch it but havent got to the stage of connecting any wires to the board yet
@@Steve_be i have a FT232RL and CH341A because thats what was shown on repair wiki for ps4 uart then downloaded the software package from there that has nor validator, neo programmer for writing the patch to the bios and it has putty which i guess is for uart log but your uart log looks easier to read
@@Steve_be This is why I prefer leaded over lead free solder. I think the leaded is probably more forgiving between heating up and cooling down cycles. But I don't do re-balls, so. But considering the number of ram chips that they use in these consoles, I wouldn't be surprised if this issue shows up much more over time.

Thanks, the ps5 as not got a working UART yet, but its being looked at. Ps4 range all good just patch the NOR the. You can use a UART to read booi log

You may find you need a hdd connected , run the latest Bwe ps4 validator 2.2.2 and see if that gives you thebanswer

Have you tried using a UART to look at the boot sequence , also check you have supply to the disc renesas

Nice fix, I wonder what caused it.
The solder balls under the ram can crack over time as they had in this case, i did end up reballing the 2 samsung DDR chips with leaded paste
