Love these simple videos. No exaggeration, nothing flashy. Just plain and simple narrative.
The fact that my two favorite RUclipsrs are best buds just made my day. Thanks guys.
Thomas, I appreciate how you have been explaining about techniques and the reasoning behind why you chose settings and compositions. Earlier in your videos you would just rattle off your settings and give basic tips, but now you explain more about your methods. Your workshops are seeping into your video content. Thanks again, and keep up the good work.
The Lake District and Thomas - that is a colab I love. Loving the autumn theme. Its the golden season. You give me inspiration and motivation.
Well, you’re now one of the greatest landscape storytellers, that is for sure!
Aaaaahh, a little bit of nature and Thomas, just what i needed. I will go back to my Bonsai trees now..
So great seeing you collaborate with Simon! He such a talented photographer and storyteller with his videos.
Thomas Heaton and Simon Baxter - it doesn’t get better than that !!!
Every time I watch one of your videos I feel so motivated and truly inspired to just go out and shoot. You work is absolutely fantastic and incredibly unique.
Trust me. When you said waiting for my guest, I immediately thought "hope it's Simon". Thank you!!!!!
Time and time again, you have inspired me to get out and shoot. There are times when I am in a rut and not feeling motivated or I feel like I am out of ideas, you make these videos and help push me through those days. Thank you so much. I look forward to these videos every week.
Woot! Simon Baxter is a phenomenal landscape photographer. Love his videos. You guys should make a phenomenal team! Your workshop clients are in for a treat!
I spent some time in the Lake District some time ago. Time of my life. Enjoyed getting totally lost in the wilderness. Good times.
I´m so happy everytime you upload new video.
I love the way you are able to work with terrible weather, most definitely an inspiration!
Two of my favorite Landscape photographers in one video. Looking forward to more from you 2.
Glad to hear the digs are going to be ok in Feb. Great video as usual, looking forward to the workshop with you both and spending time in the Lakes.
That is one of your best Videos... I love that landscapes, colours,....... absolutely stunning......
Your are my biggest role model....
Great living example of relationship between nature and human being.
Good stuff there in the coffee shop! It made me hungry! Coffee is a universal cure-all.
Where is Simon's dog? You two are a good combo! Thomas, I love your sweeping landscape and love Simon smaller detailed landscapes, but equally stunning photography!
that trick about zooming in screen while taking pictures is great!!!!
thank you so much , you saved me from lots of bleury pictures Tom
Thomas and Simon together! Yay! Still a month away from "Fall" here in Southern California, but very inspiring nonetheless...
Yes! Simon Baxter and Thomas Heaton on the same video!!
6:01 The image makes me feel lonely. But it's like a beautiful loneliness. I don't know. I am feeling so calm by looking at it, inspired. Thank you Thomas for sharing your work with us.. Always looks absolutely stunning . :)
Not even a mention of Meg. It just does not seem the same with out Meg running around. Great team up.
Really love how you make your videos, calm music in the background and I learn new stuff every video you make.
I know now why you are in a hotel! And reasons can’t be better. Look forward to you and Simons future endevours!
Stormy salute!
Thank you for another beautiful video, when I come back to your videos, in a weird way it grounds me and calms me, to take not just photography slower and with more care but life too
Always pleasure to watch your channel and especially when Simon drops in. Great job, thanks.
I have not even started watching this video but, seeing a notification in youtube and that too from Thomas Heaton.....there is nothing best I can expect for the day.
Yaaayyy its wednesday :)
You seem comfortable these days. More at ease. It's good to see you out. And thanks for that tip about shooting on soft ground.
The tip about zooming in 10x to see the shaking was very helpful, thank you.
Great video Thomas . Nice to see yourself and Simon enjoying the lakes in Autumn
Well done as always, Thomas. I knew it was just a matter of time before a Heaton/Baxter colab would happen. You both have the UK on lockdown! Cheers!
I an very happy this season to see beautiful Autumn. I an waiting your upload. Thank! Thomas... and your friendship.
love Simon's videos (and dog), so happy to see you two together
A workshop with both of you guys is tempting. It sounds like a good time.
The second image was gorgeous (despite the stump).
And what a great tip regarding the camera shake.
Two of my favorite youtubers! Nothing else compares!
I LOVE that tip at 9:04 using LiveView zoomed in to see when things stop shaking!! Thank you for your channel, Thomas!
Excellent . . . . and Simon Baxter too, has Meg got the hump as she had to stay at home :) . . . Nice work, looks like some good `uns to come.
i was hoping it would be Simon, i really enjoy his forest shots and videos. Great that you two got together for a video, keep up the good work
Brilliant video, great to see the Lake District featured again.
Baldry's Cafe round the corner of the Grand Hotel is a must in Grasmere brilliant food fuel for pre/post hike.
Tom,
I'm a real fan of the subdued palette imparted by the overcast. The colors evident are deliciously saturated. Believe I'da lost the stump in post, but that's the creator's prerogative.
Good to see prolific posts, and I'm happy to have the mystery for the previous post's hotel location "revealed."
Thank-You,
Mike
Well two of my most favourite Vloggers Simon Baxter and Thomas Heaton a Double - Delight and doing a workshop in February oh to be on that one. As always regardless of weather you always manage to get something. Looks like you are both in good company in a lovely hotel. Gotta' be Good ! ( See you in Belfast this Saturday Thomas )
Toms tips !! New feature ! Loved the ten times zoom on live view ! Simple but never occurred to me ! Cheers Tom !
Thanks for the tip on lodging in the area. Looks beautiful.
Great to see you and Simon together again, but without his cohort (Meg), something's just missing. Thomas, could you race around jump like Meg?!!!
I was waiting for a Thomas and Simon video, I love both your works. Would love to see more of you both.
Thomas, great job on the images. I really enjoyed the first, I like the 4x5 crop on that image especially well. Nice to see your collaboration with Simon Baxter, he is a fine photographer and RUclipsr! Outstanding as always my friend. Take care. John.
LOOOVe Grasmere. Stayed just around the corner from the Grand at the Daffodil hotel for our Honeymoon back in March! Shame the weather was pants but so glad we got to do at least Helm Cragg before the weather really did take a turn for the worse!
I wish you would have included some of Simon’s photos. I love both of you! You two are my favorite RUclipsrs. Always great job
The taking the shot while zoomed in is a great trick! I do that to check focus but never thought of using it to check for camera shake... good work as always and thanks!
Thomas and Simon in one video, awesome!
Really love your videos, the pace is awesome, music is amazing. And the whole trip is soul smoothing, I felt like I was there too, plz keep up the good work! Can't wait to see more!
Haha awesome I absolutely love Simons work and videos! I didn't expect this colab either!
Autumn is my favourite season x
Hope you made it through the storm fine. Good to see places are getting some nice colors for the fall.
Great job with the video and images, Tom. I really enjoyed that first morning - the colour was fantastic and well worth the soggy feet. I'm so glad you didn't include my slightly sensual facial expressions while eating the rocky road ;-)
Simon Baxter you mean we missed out on a face plant!!! Damn!!!😂
Awh. No Meg :-(
Great collaboration Simon :)
iLightBox Photography - I know, I really missed her :(
Paul G Johnson - Thanks but it wasn't really a true collaboration, to be honest. We were there for other reasons but maybe we'll do a proper collab in the future.
This is a cracking video! You and Simon! Plus, really enjoyed 'learning' how you evaluate compositions. Lovely images, too. Cheers
Fab vlog Tom & great to see special guest Simon :) You shot some lovely images in some challenging conditions!
Wet, mist & a soggy ground but all forgiven because it's atmospheric autumn! Fab :)
Wow two of my most favourite landscape photographers collaborate! What I wouldn't give to be on that workshop. Pity about the weather, pack a parka next shoot!
Lovely photos Tom.
Great video. I love the lakes and SHOULD get there more often , especially now it's autumn. Take care bud.
Thank for your job.well done as always,Thomas.
Now all we need is a little Tucker and the A-team will be assembled!
Those pastries at the coffee shop made me hungry!
Hey Thomas. I'm James from Clinton Ok small town in western Ok. You inspire me. just been watching some veidos on photography. Several years ago I was deeply into this, and here we are in 2019. I finally caught a digital 35m Nikon model 5100kit that came with an 18-55. Keep making those veidos to inspire us....
"who have continued to support my channel - I don't know why ..." :D
I have a feeling that you are showing us more of the landscape, that you are photographing at a given moment, again in recent videos. I like your face but it's good seeing what you're actually referring to verbally at the moment of (pre-)photographing! ;) Very picturesque first image indeed by the way.
Great video. Always amazes me how you get such great shots from situations that most of us would give up on or simply not see a composition. I'm off to stay in some woodland lodges next week so hoping for great colours and misty mornings!
Lovely as usual Tom ..... Great tip on using the live view to check movement. I always carry some large bin bags in with my rain cover to use in wet weather, either as a poncho for me or to put my camera in etc.
Brilliant tip on how to avoid shakiness/motion blur caused by the ground
Great colours/atmosphere. Was in Rosthwaite last week but couldn't get to Castle Crag because the roads were impassable after over 8 inches of rainfall.
What a "stunning" place looks great!
Workshop sold out already -not surprised the Grands a very nice hotel with friendly staff. Great location for woods, mountains and lakes.
Great tip about to zoom in and wait for the camerashake to stop. Havent thought about that before. Thanks!
i'm so jealous, you can do things i can only wish for here in Cracow City. It's a pleasure to watch your full time job is a great pleasure.
Simon rocks ! The both of you are my favorite landscape photographers ! Love to see another video with you both . Minus the rain
So cool to see you and Simon teaming up! Loved the video and images.
Super vlog and images Tom brightened up a Wednesday night after seeing the new Blade Runner movie
I was looking forward to some conversations between Thomas and Simon! :D Next time maybe. Different perspectives and inputs!
Lovely images Thomas, as ever I like the way you talk us through your thinking. Having my two favourite vloggers together - superb, hope to see more collaboration in the future! With the dogs though!
Another great video Thomas and loved that tip about using live view to check for shake
Great Video as per usual, Thanks for the tips...especially the 10x zoom
Great video Thomas. I don't think everyone realises how much trouble and effort you put into pulling these vlogs together. This one was particularly good. Besides the technical proficiency required, the secret ingredient is of course your authenticity. Maybe one day you can demonstrate how you make your vlogs as they are a work of art in themselves.
A great video and a wonderful location Thomas. Now, I’ve never known Simon be so quiet, lol
Hi from Australia, new subscriber and love the channel. Already learned a lot, look forward to sitting down for hours and watching your other videos.
Great shots. Love the intimate landscapes.
Thanks for the zoom in and watch it stop shaking tip.. didnt even Know I could do that on my 750D :D
Hey Tom! I love your channel and watch constantly.
I was super happy when you finally got an L-bracket, since it makes life so much easier and more stable. There are 2 other things that I notice which could also help with stability and also with protecting your DSLR lens mount.
A tripod mount ring/lens collar for your 70-200 is the first. It will balance your setup on the tripod and reduce movement. And it will also reduce the stress on the mount to the camera.
Second is the tripod itself and it has to do with the extendable center column. I used one like that for a long time and always always always felt that it had movement in it. But also that it raised my center of gravity even higher than it needed to be. Both those reduce stability. So have you thought about getting a tripod with a flat top platform where the ballhead mounts directly to it? It eliminates all the plastic between your legs and ballhead and also eliminates the center column which would move in the wind and reduce stability overall.
As an example, I use an Induro GIT404XL and love it. It is a bit heavy and is a bit overkill regarding its size, but they make smaller versions. It’s greatly improved the stability of my setup and I love it. I’ve been thinking of getting a lighter version that will help when I’m on longer hikes or going on long walks through a city.
Sorry for the super long response. I hope to hear back! Keep doing what you’re doing!
Really happy to see a collaboration with Simon. He does great content and has a really similar dog I wonder Why you have not brought them!
So cool seeing Simon, I subscibe to his channel too. Learning a lot from both of you. Hope you guys made it through the storm.
Im just gutted I didn’t bump into you both as I was within a mile away on the same day. Glorious conditions before the warm strong winds set in n vlogging became too difficult. Beautiful images Tom
That place was amazing...very nice video...loved it...really...
What a collaboration! Now all you need is Paul G Johnson and it will be 👌!
I bet you couldn’t believe you were walloped by Ophelia could you, I saw pictures on the news and it looked bloody grim.🙁
You managed two beautiful images despite the weather, well done. Thanks for the tip about motion blur too.👍
You should have taken both of your loopy dogs for some great B roll!😀
I hope you and your kit dried out, take care.🍀👌
Wow my two favourite landscapers in one Vlog, What a delight. Cant wait for the next one. Maybe a little more interaction between you both?
Awesome video, love the images, the Photoshop content aware fill filter is an amazing tool😉 😉 , and of course you are with the king of woodland photography
I find your work and videos, which are also a great deal of work, inspiring. I finally go a half decent digital camera after decades of film shooting and next month I am going on my first entirely photography trip. It will be autumn colors in Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Thank you for the help getting me off my ass. BTW, this year's calendar is awesome.
I'm confused! How did you get the leaves on that tree to be sharp with 5s exposure? It was blowing a hoolie up there by the looks of it!
Was just about to ask the same question - unless it was a composite?
Awesome Thomas I love your videos but I'm tortured for your penchant for rain! I have a new idea for your next video. Rain photography techniques. Should be a slam dunk! Keep up the awesome videos.
Inspirational. I just want to leave work and go take pictures.
