Go Hannah - such a treat watching her get comfortable and the entire crew to come together. One Life kicking butt on another amazing sail. Kudos to both Brooke and Gary for owning this crossing AND turning Hannah into a sailor!
"Dolphins and land, ho!" I remember your frustrations in Mexico. One Life has taken you through to New Zealand, good girl. Gary, I don't think I've ever seen a quarantine flag raised with such exuberance. Congratulations to the three of you on this last leg. Great job, Hannah. I hope the weather didn't sour you on sailing. I'll see you next week. Take care.
Hey Lee! Thank you! One Life has certainly taken us farther than we ever imagined. She's our salty girl. The weather has a certain way of kicking your butt and then giving you beautiful much needed conditions. See you next week!
Oh my goodness, I am not going to lie, I was a little nervous because I hadn't seen a new video in a while. So happy all is good. Love you all and enjoy watching your journey! You made it!!! Nice work crew!
I am so thrilled for the three of you.Congratulations on your safe arrival to New Zealand. It was thrilling to see the dolphins welcoming you. OMGosh It's such a joy and privilege to experience this epic journey with you!!
Good morning guys congratulations on your mammoth effort getting to NZ we use to in whangarei between 1982/85 dad was a crane operator building the Marsden point oil refiner prior to that 1981/82 we lived in a caravan at the waipu Cove motor camp which was right on the beach I was 12 at that time wow that brought back memories hearing whangarei once again congrats 👏 I was crying right along with you brooke ❤
Oh wow! So cool! We didn't go into Whangarei but know it's a popular spot for sailors to stop. Sounds like quite the childhood living in the caravan! We have some caravanning in NZ coming your way! Also, we really appreciate the kudos! Thank you!
Was nice to see you all get a day or two to finally relax together on deck, Lord knows you all deserved it, what a passage! From reading through just a few comments, it looks like it's probably unanimus, we'd all love to see Hannah return to One Life someday. Looking forward to seeing what's happening in New Zealand!
Hey Bruce! Hannah has been such a great crew member! We wish she could stay but maybe we can talk her into joining us onboard for a few weeks somewhere else! Lots of good videos coming on our time in New Zealand!
Even though we've never met in person, it's impossible to follow you guys and not feel an overwhelming sense of pride (and relief) at watching you continually achieve your lofty goals! You're all so awesome! Hannah - it would be great to see you on One Life again sometime soon!! So sad to see you leaving!! But as always, for all 3 of you...keep going!!!!
Thank you, Michael! We really appreciate you coming along with us and cheering for us out here! Hannah leaving was a bummer but we hope we can talk her into joining us one day again!
Super congratulations to 'One Life'! What a wonderful journey you guys are having. So glad I get to come along and enjoy your adventure. Thanks so much! I have sailed in the Bay of Islands via a sailboat that I chartered. Yep, I cheated and flew to New Zealand from USA.

I knew you were getting close, NZ water has a definite sea state and colour!! Welcomed by Dolphins, amazing!! What a passage that was!! What an asset Hannah was for you guys through that period of sailing, shes a trooper!!
So good to see you all arrive safe & sound. Welcome to NZ. I hope you have a great time here. Oh & well done Hannah, your a champ 🏆👏 SV Kiwi Lady Opua Bay of islands New Zealand 👍🏿
Hello, Ok you're finished that big sailing trip. A really enjoyable video. Can't wait for your next one which will see Hannah leaving the boat. Myself never having been on a sail boat, I think she did a great job as a first time sailor. I bet you will miss her after having been together for so long. Wow you two have come a long way since you got that boat. I just finished watching ep 1 2 & 3 about your boat searching and then leaving home on it. What an adventure! ok, ciao. geo Oh I want to say hello and goodbye to Hannah also - Hannah you were wonderful on that boat ride. Best wishes to you, geo
Thanks so much, Geo! We really appreciate your support and thoughtful comments. Hannah did an amazing job as a first-time sailor, and it was bittersweet to say goodbye after such a fantastic journey together. It’s been incredible to share our adventure from the boat search to now, and we’re glad you’re along for the ride!
Well done on the great achievement arrival to the Land of the Long White Cloud..!!! I think it is so funny that Hannah has now got an American accent..!! Ha ha ha Much love to you all.
Loved the "home" stretch at the end! Land Ho AND Dolphins!? Doesn't get much sweeter... well, until it does and Hannah doesn't need no gloves! You guys rock \m/
A truly exhilarating ending to a beautiful passage ! Hannah was great ! Dolphins are really special for me. I had even read Dolphin Diaries by Denise Herzig (hopefully spelled correctly) , she studies them for a bout 30 years, and wrote a book. Amazingly, she calls the Dolphins showing up at the Bow the Bow Ride, and says, for them , its like you having your first meal in a restaurant in New Zealand , its like having a pie with that meal ! Its their ultimate life experience and they cherish it.
Thank you! Dolphins are truly magical creatures, and it’s amazing to hear how they cherish their experiences, just like we do! Your reference to Dolphin Diaries is great; it’s always fascinating to learn more about their behavior and experiences. We appreciate you sharing that perspective! We always say when we have dolphins doing the 'bow ride' that during that moment - everything is right in the world!
Congratulations on a successful voyage. I could see between the facial expressions that this was a particularly tough one. Sailing videos never explain just how difficult a sailing life is. It takes you away from family and friends and disconnects you from your closest relationships. You never feel like you belong anywhere while living on a sailboat. It is always moving so one can never get a proper rest of mind and body. It is a constant test of physical and mental endurance. The toll it takes on the relationship you have with your husband/wife is immense, and some never recover from that. Living aboard full time is a life that is not for everyone. I just wish that you tube sailors would disclose these little secrets.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. It’s so true that sailing life can be incredibly challenging, and it often doesn't get the attention it deserves in videos. The emotional and mental toll can be significant, and it’s definitely a lifestyle that requires resilience and adaptability. We strive to be honest about our experiences, both the highs and the lows. It’s important for viewers to understand that while there are beautiful moments, there are also struggles that come with the lifestyle. Especially when it comes to family and relationships.
My German shepherd kept my deck clean of flying fish, and she had the shiniest coat of all boat dogs in the marina.....I miss you Razzy...may you forever find your favorite passage snack...
We are all going to miss you, Hannah. I feel like I'm saying goodbye to a very good friend. May you find your way full of blessings. Thank you for the pleasure of getting to know you.

Yes, we do too! It can be a bit of a juggling act finding the perfect balance of sailing, filming, editing, exploring and boat work! Hang with us, we have lots of more adventures coming soon.
You should secure the lowest tack position on the headsail so the point where the bolt rope enters the foil does NOT become the load point. That could tear off the entire bolt rope. Put the foot load to the tack.
I assume you're looking at the sail around the 17:52 mark. Sounds like you are suggesting the sail should be lower, but it would rub/chafe over the bow rail and lifelines if it were. This is how that sail was designed and fabricated to be positioned, and we have no reason to doubt that Precision Sails reinforced it appropriately to handle the loads in the tack area.
@@SailingOneLife you don't need too change the height of the tack. Just secure the actual tack around the headstay to take the load off the bolt rope where it enters the groove. At the very least keep a good eye on that point and if you see wear that makes you nervous, then secure the very tack. A simple soft shackle will do the trick.
Why did you do the trip so early? I have done that trip many times and usually the weather is much better around now. This may give you a problem again next year when you might have to leave early for the islands and visas are running out.
