  • Hey there! In this video, I am going to share with you what I did to pass NCLEX on the first try. I took the NCLEX 12 years ago but my tips are practical and can be used by anyone preparing to take NCLEX.

I've been watching you for a few months now and I normally don't comment on people's videos. However, I just wanted to say that I love your humor and your attitude!! I love how you keep it real! I'm a male nurse that just graduated and passed my Nclex 3 weeks ago and your inspiring! Keep them coming!

For me, I graduated in December 2010, took Kaplan course at school a couple weeks later, studied sample questions online and via nclex prep books like crazy, and took the nclex in January 2011. The computer cutoff at 75. I either did really good or bad…. When I went home, I could not re-register so that meant I passed! Nursing school is probably the hardest endeavor in my life!

@@KendraRN After five years of doing bedside med surg/tele with oftentimes no break, no bathroom, no lunch, and crying due stress levels, I went to work for a certain state bordering the Pacific Ocean as a correctional nurse! Good pay, excellent benefits, pension, plenty of available time off (unlike hospitals that only give you a ‘couple days’ off relative peaking), and best of all: SO MUCH LESS STRESS OVERALL!!!!!!!!! As long the guys behave themselves, not much to do if you work in the emergency clinic. There are nursing positions seeing guys with chronic issues, vaccines, doing annual TB and BP checks for high blood pressure guys, etc…. No bed pans, foleys, hanging TPN and blood; if it’s too bad for us to handle, automatic send out to the local hospital…. Love it! Haven’t done much patient care for the past three years as I became a supervisor in 2019; more money but now it involves babysitting some nurses that do their best not to work because they know they can’t be fired like nurses can in the private sector…. Have NOOOO plans on ever going back to bedside if I can help it at all.

Great video Kendra! I second the read the rationales tip. That's how I passed the first time... along with practicing questions, questions, questions! Also, I spoke passing the test the first time into existence. There was no thoughts of doubt allowed.

You’re such an encouragement! I just got my “quick results” and it said I failed 😞 although nothing has been updated on the Board website. I’ve heard it was quite accurate. I think I focused so much on content rather than doing the 2000 questions. I probably did about 600-700 questions within a 3-4 week period on Uworld. Along with other random exams I did through Kaplan. My school paid for the Kaplan resource but I didn’t utilize all of it. I am now reaching back out to the instructor who taught our class to see if I can attend another class.
& yes the screen of the NCLEX resembles the Kaplan exams.
Thank you so much for sharing ❣️

I also meant to say, I thought I was truly putting in the work but as soon as the exam opened I feel like my mind went blank. The exam wasn’t that hard - I had poor judgement 😔 with this being said, I don’t feel like I can’t be a good nurse because it’s for sure within me. I am much better hands on and learning through experiences.

Take it ASAP rely on your knowledge and the critical thinking skills that you have been learning throughout your education. Just remember which answer is the most right for the best clinical outcome for your patient in question. Best tip trust yourself don't second guess.

Just want to say it is very comforting listening to you. I am Canadian and most instructors are white women. Yes they know their stuff but they will never be able to address the institutional racism that you have in other videos. If it is of any value to you, I urge you to open a school or institution of some sort to mentor young black nurses. You have a good character that needs to be passed on. Thanks sister

Have you been struggling with NCLEX be it LPN or RN, have you taken the exam for more than once? Are you taking it for the first time? Do you have a too busy schedule to study? Get to Dr Needham for your NCLEX assistance. I’m so happy I finally passed my exams thanks to him. He’s got a magical qbank which will help you become a RN

I'm getting ready to take NCLEX I agree with you I took my NCLEX PN ASAP after graduating in 2014... Tried to do that this time too but this novel disease called covid was around this time and made me postpone lol I'll be taking it soon just disappointed and have to get motivated to study again bc I just know I would have passed it already lol... I'm going to relisten to Mark Klimek lectures and do my Uworld questions... Btw I did Kaplan for PN too and passed the first time I do like their material !!

IMO school was enough NCLEX prep. Literally thousands of questions IN ADDITION to unit tests. I didn't study a lick for the NCLEX. Plus I didn't feel like I could adequately prepare for a test that I have no idea what's gonna be on it
