  • Join me as I have look back at the last six LPs that have graced my turntable. I'll spend a couple of moments on each one giving my unrehearsed instant thoughts and feelings. May contain swearing.

I have a very love/hate relationship with BB. Great songwriter in the past but he's gone way left field politics wise for me. Tank Park Salute still kills me. Played it the day my dad died.

Cope's next album, Jehovakill, definitely needs to be heard. Surprised you gave Liverpool 2 points, it's dire. Absolutely correct about the tubes first four albums. Nina Hagen does an amazing version of white punks. great vid me ode.

@neilbower9052 thank you mate. Much appreciated. Yes the Frankie album is chronic but I had to give it something. Being that 5 is average I think a score of 2 is fair enough. Cheers.

Don't know where your belief that Julian Cope was a 'massive Heroin addict' has come from? Are you confusing him with someone else?
Admittedly, he's ingested enough psychedelics to incapacitate a small nation, particularly during his Teardop Explodes years (read his autobiography about that time, if you haven't already). But he certainly wasn't doing Heroin in that period, or at the time of Peggy Suicide.
He's also been married to the same woman for decades and raised 2 kids with her. Which isn't very typical for someone who struggled with a major opiate dependence.Nor is his extensive travels and research/books/TV show about ancient archaeological sites in the UK and Europe.
Been a fan for many years, this is the first time I've heard him described like that. Thought you may know something I don't, but can't find any references to his supposed addiction to that stuff anywhere online.

He also says that Peggy Suicide is his third solo album. You could argue that it was his 7th if you include Skellington and Droolian. But certainly not his third.

@grizcuz it's been years since I read his books and all I can really remember about them was the endless drugging and lots of "trying to score".
If I've got that wrong then I apologise. What I say in these videos comes straight of the top of my head and is in no way a fact checked document of reality, more a tongue in cheek emotion lead stream of consciousness for entertainment purposes. I think I rated him very highly in the video if memory serves. Check the other 20 odd videos in the series, Im confident they will also be full of half truths and ill remembered drivel thst just comes out of my gob without a filter.
Don't take it too seriously. It's only a bit of fun.

@@OldJockRadio I'm not taking it particularly seriously and everyone makes mistakes or gets someone confused with someone else, including me. But I'm sure nobody wants to be thought of as a Heroin addict when they never have been, regardless of who it is. I doubt that Cope is litigious, but there's plenty of examples of people being sued for something they've said about someone on social media these days. I just think you need to be a bit more circumspect if you're going to accuse someone of something like that.

@grizcuz if I worried about that too much I'd be in jail. Just been trying to find my copy of "Head On" but I tbink I may have given it to a charity shop. I'm pretty sure he recounts a few "gotta score" stories in there but hey, i could be wrong. I even said Frankie Goes To Hollywood were great in one video. 🙃

I just read 'Head On' for the first time a couple of days ago. The amount of acid he describes himself and the band mates consuming made me feel quite ill. It was more a case that people were throwing the stuff at him than going out to score (which I don't think he mentions once). One example... Crazy girl gifts him a bag of 1000 doses(!) crystal lsd, which he and Gary Dwyer immediatly start dipping their fingers into endlessly touring across America until the whole band and entourage have to ditch all their drugs before crossing border into Canada. Haven't read the second memoir 'Repossessed' yet, so maybe that describes a less well-connected drug habit...?
Great to hear you mention Rezillos album. It's fantastic. And The Damned!. Black Album and Strawberries are two my faves of theirs.
      Cheers!
