    Thanks for this video. I recently volunteered to create a new web site for our local Prostate Cancer Support Group. My previous web experience was writing HTML about 30 years ago. I knew I was going to use WordPress. After watching some videos I started out with the twenty twenty theme. I was confused regarding the theme and how to configure it. As I watched this video on the new twenty twenty-two theme and editor it suddenly made a lot more sense. Your video was very informative and interesting.

    Learned more from this vid than from 3 previous vids I watched. Great stuff! Agree with @Bill Rees below - will have to watch it several times over for it all to sink in! Thank you.

      Awesome! This is the first of three on the full-site editor... so you may wanna bookmark the newer ones (recently released, check out my other videos) using the Twenty Twenty-Three theme!

      Awesome! FYI, this is the oldest of a few FSE tutorials. Check out my other newer ones... the editor looks different after a few recent updates (which you may have noticed).

    Great stuff Ray. I'll probably have to watch it about 5 times for it all to sink in! But really, really, clear and useful. Thanks.

      Bill - Awesome to hear. That's the only way to learn.
      Before recording, I build the site 2-3X to iron out kinks before recording. Not to mention heavy editing to cut out my rambling or if I forget something and have to look it up, ha.
      I'm almost done a new tutorial (this time with Divi + business template)... stay tuned for that one! Should be ready in 1-2 weeks.

    All I can say is WOW! As a rookie to WP 2022, this PROVES to me that itZ possible. Now all I have to do is slow play-back to one-tenth, hide my pineapple-vodka-slushy, and I'll be good to go. Thanks for this comprehensive peek into the possibilities! 😊👍

      Terry, nice to hear! I'm working on another full site editor tutorial since WP release a new theme (Twenty Twenty-Three). Sometimes a drink takes the edge off just enough to power through a project... just keep in reasonable so you remember what you learned, haha!

      I'm working on my site as I write this. Pausing your steps helped immensely and I'm getting the hang of this thing. Safety tip; drinking and playing with wp2022 ain't a smart idea. Lol 😂 😮 👍

    Hi Ray - many thanks for the heads up - but what about coming up with a vid that covers all the exciting new things that come with WordPress version 6.0. The world wide WP-Community is waiting for this video!

    Thank you so much! You mention using CSS: I can see how to add css classes to a block, under “advanced”. But where should we write the css code itself, i.e. the code for the class? (in a way that it won’t get overwritten by updates)?

    • @RayDelVecchio
      @RayDelVecchio  2 года назад

      There are a few ways to do it, but the easiest is go to Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS section (though that menu option is removed from FSE themes). Also check out my video on how to create a custom plugin with CSS. You can leave everything blank besides the CSS... ruclips.net/video/RzKOsPGi1Pk/видео.html

      @@RayDelVecchio Sorry I meant in the new FSE editor yes, the "old way" I did know of. Thank you very much for that link, it's fascinating!

    • @RayDelVecchio
      @RayDelVecchio  2 года назад

      @@sybdeclark8055 FYI, the customize area does still work with FSE. You just need to directly access it from the URL. I think it's /wp-admin/customize.php - I still think they should have it easily accessible since their builder is somewhat basic.

    Hello dear Ray - Brilliant introduction - thanks. your videos are a great resource: You provide an in-depth and crystal clear walkthrough of very important topics. Would you do some vids about the new Version 6.1 That would be awesome!

      Glad it was helpful, and appreciate the kind words. I'll look into the new version features. I usually don't pay much attention to the minor updates until something directly affects one of my sites! Is there anything specific you're looking forward to in 6.1?

    how about custom fonts? how can I use them? I tried using custom fonts from by Brainstorm Force, but didnt work... using the theme twenty twenty-two

    • @RayDelVecchio
      @RayDelVecchio  2 года назад

      I don't know if it's integrated but I always used Google Fonts and embedded them within the CSS code. It's a little advanced but not too difficult.

      Good question - I added my fonts into the theme via theme.json and that works to an extent. I can select my fonts in the editor but the other font attributes like thickness or italicized don't work. Leave it to WordPress to neglect even the most obvious and simple features. I suggest switching to Statamic if you can. Every problem you ever had with WordPress will disappear like magic.

    Hello. I've been following along and really appreciate this guide. Just what I had been looking for. I've been working on a site, was able to build pages and create a navigation menu with drop-downs and I believe I saved it in the templates. But I want to remove a redundant drop-down link and can't find the template. I've looked at each header template and template parts. Is there a way to identify which header template is being used for all of the pages? Same thing for the footer. The site looks proper, but when I look at all of the footer templates, I don't see the one that I had modified... unless I did it in another part of WP? Thanks.

    • @Guitar4C
      @Guitar4C 2 года назад

      I decided to just edit the page (again). Changed the header; changed the footer and they took for all of the pages. But I cannot find where it is being saved so that I can make additional changes. If I just choose to edit the page, the nav menu flattens out, and most of the content of the footer disappears. I'm not getting it. If I look at all of the headers and footer in template parts... no help there. Looks like it came out of the box with site title and pages spelled out horizontally.

      Well I decided to reset WP getting rid of the pages and modifications and run through this video step-by-step. Hopefully I'll have a better understanding of the overall process.
