Great Setup!! I have a Generlink arriving this week! I would only caution to take out the generator when given the chance! Typically they may require a small amount of install (Like adding wheels) and most generators will require a break in period of 1-5 hrs, which is pretty much just not running at full load and changing the oil. This will also give you time to check the system and generator and make sure that it works. Just best to check now to make changes/exchange anything now before a storm is 2 days out! But looks good and looks like y'all have a great setup!
Thanks for sharing this. I'm wondering why everyone doesn't use this method rather than running a line into the main electric panel? I don't seen anything discussing this.
That generator will not run your ac, but it'll handle a decent amount. I saw on a video a unit you can put on your AC unit, i think its called a soft start that may give you the ability to run it on the generator. The original surge on AC is what causes you not to be able to use the smaller (less than 10-12k) generators to power it. Good video!
If the AC unit has an inverter in it, the power will ramp up gradually at startup, and won't require a soft start. Not all AC outdoor condenser units have an inverter built into it, so it's important to know what your unit has before you buy your generator. My 5 Ton AC inverter draws 1-2 amps at start up, 9 amps at normal operation, and 22 amps at max. This information came directly from the mouth of Bosch technical support representative, and was not field verified. The less expensive single phase / single stage outdoor AC condenser units require max power at start up and run at maximum all the time whereas an inverter unit fluctuates like a sine curve based on need and isn't forced to run full bore all the time.

Thanks for the advice/tips & thanks for watching!
Looking into a Generlink. Thank you for the info. God bless you all. You have a beautiful homestead and did an amazing job with it.
Welcome to Foster Family Fun! Thank you. 😊
Predator Generator has a reputation of being reliable- it's great that you have a inverter to transfer to automatically
We will have a backup if we need it. Thanks for watching!
@@FosterFamilyFun that's good, i don't have to worry about you all down there! LOL
Great information!!!
😘

It would be awesome if they would incorporate some sort of trigger that would shut down your generator once it detected line power.

Look into an AC soft starter. You can run a home AC on a portable generator that has a soft starter installed.
What was the cost of the generlink
Did you buy the Generlink? Or did the utility guy bring it out?
The utility guy brought it to us.
Foster family Fun so living in Florida your utility power provider is it FPL or not?
No that’s not the provider in our area.
Fpl do not allow the genelink on their meters...but I have one installed now for over 4 years now and I did the install myself
