You keep taking us to so many beautiful places, it’s wonderful. I didn’t know about the mermaid fun fact, we saw her twin when we were in Copenhagen, she sends her best. Stay safe, miss you both, love you.xx mum 🧜♀️
So lovely place, Poland was a battlefield during the 2nd World War. Germany attacked Poland on 1 September 1939 and Russia also invaded on 17 September in the same year. Germany and Russia divided Poland into two parts.
There are 2 legends concerning the mermaid. There's the one you told where king Kazimierz found a hut when he was hunting inside of which a woman recently gave a birth to twins . As the woman hosted him generously he also gave her gold to build a house for her and twins. She accepted , but only if he names her twins. So he gave them Wars - for boy , and Sawa - for a girl. Soon people started to migrate to the region of the hut and created settlement named after the twins. According to the second legend Wars was a great fisherman that fell in love with the mermaid Sawa , and after a year of gaining up the courage to speak to her and not make her afraid of his presence he confessed. After the found out their feelings are mutual they kissed , and Sawa turned from being mermaid to human. Legend says they had 6 children which started building a community that later would be called the capital of Poland -Warszawa
We agree! They are much better but they are also more expensive in most cases! We always go with whatever is the cheapest! Ever dollar we save means more time travelling! 😊
Poland suffered a lot through the 20th century. Nazis invaded and killed millions of Poles, the Soviets killed 22k Polish officers in Katyn, and the Ukrainians killed hundreds of thousands of Polish women and children in just a single day.
@@JordanandEmily It's also crazy how Polish people sympathizes with the Ukronazis despite them massacring hundreds of thousands of Polish people in Western Ukraine.
This is what Warsaw looked like right after WW2 - Poland did not receive any war reparations or compensation for the lives of the killed Poles (city like a Phoenix rebuilt from te scratch by Poles): ruclips.net/video/zr5uGi7mil4/видео.html Over 200 thousands of Polish civilians mostly were murdered during the Uprising. BTW Warsaw Uprising (1944) was huge uprising of Polish civilians mostly - they had enough of cruel occupation and it is sometimes confused with very little Ghetto Uprising (1943).
may or may not still have a bruise on my foot from the wishing bell 😅 that's gotta be good luck....right?!
Beautiful city Warsaw. ..

It's absolutely crazy how much history is through Poland. Every single city has its own history and story.
You mean the Soviet Union? Russia didn't exist at the time, only people with pure ignorance like you call the USSR "Russia"

It's insane how much Poland has gone through over the years 😔

Przepraszam nie Naziści tylko Niemcy, Naziści to członkowie partii NSDAP w Niemczech w latach 1933-1945
