New sub just found your channel even though your vids look like you get it done quick I do appreciate and know all the hours and hard work you do thanks so much love your vids
It’s real: you’re now a patron of Black Beard Projects! Although I am in China, I still hope to see you. Lovely job! Surprised me... l LOVE your all videos.
I've never knew that the stabilizing of wood was a thing. I ended up here from watching your video of you making the vacuum pump from a refrigerator compressor. Its great to see people's ingenuity at work. Keep up the good work!
Awesome video. I learned a lot from this one. Especially the mistakes I would have made with my vacuum pump using solvent-based wood stabilizers. I would never had seen that one coming. Thanks for the tip on using cactus juice. It looks very simple and I noticed you were able to reclaim unused product which is awesome! Keep the videos coming we love them!
If you add a Tee and a valve, you can relieve vacuum on the pump, in case you have to start it, it won't have to start under load. It was hot as hell this summer and the air couldn't keep up. As such, stabilizing wasn't an option using Cactus Juice or the equivalent, because it starts to cure in hot weather. As an experiment, I used specialty hardening oil finishes. Specifically, Daly's Profin and Seafin. My results were great, though not quite the same as you'd get with the juice. Some items doubled in weight and even thin end grain items because usable for things like knife scales. Simply sanding a cured item and buffing it produced results that would pass for a finished item. However, I only did that to see what the end product looked like.
I started watching this earlier. Some great tips towards the end. Also I was surprised that the wenge actually took in more resin. I wouldn’t have thought that would be the case.
Right! I was very surprised too. Maybe beech needed a longer soaking time? I've read some that leave blanks to soak even a full week. I guess it depends on the wood.
You do make some of the most intricate videos i have ever watched. Keep doing you. Love the vids. You inspired me to try a few.... Keep up the good work!
would love to see a overall comparison of vacuum stabilizing soft woods and spalts. maybe set up a janka bench to see if it increases hardness and comparative stability of the woods?
It would be cool to see a video where you compare 2 identical pieces of wood, one stabilized other one just normal. Then strength test them and test in water to see which one is best👍
Wenge is similar to Indian rosewood, in that it is hard as hell, but has open grain, which is why it took on more weight. Theoretically, if this treatment was done on softwood such as pine, it would end up as strong as hardwood(?)
Spectacular!! But the cactus juice is so much expensive... i utilized paraloid on aceton... but with the cactus resin the risultate is incredibile!!!! Good job black!!!!🔥🔥🔥👍👍👍👍👍
Excuse the ignorance, but what is wood stabilization for? What do you do with stabilized wood? I was watching a video of how to make a vacuum pump, and I came here by chance.
Mi complimento con te per la tua iniziativa, molto competente. Dove posso trovare questi prodotti in Italia? Io vivo in Italia e sono un appassionato come te di coltelleria e auto costruzione di manufatti in legno e acciaio... Grazie mille per l'aiuto.
Here's a question if I wanted to dry a large amount of firewood would using either a vacuum or a pressure vessel work for this application. Its more theoretical problem thats now bugging me
Great video..... I saw your video of making the chamber. but now you used the yellow rubber band. What is it? And thanks to put the link in the discription for buying catus juice in europe!!!!!
Great stuff, we recently threw out an old vending machine at work, I managed to salvage one of these compressors and am in the process of building a similar contraption. Thanks for the inspiration. Also are you north or south Italy, I have family in Torino.
Can anyone tell me if the HF vac pump is sufficient and or good for 10 quart pot for stabilizing, I under stand it has a vacuum pull of 22 microns ????
You should look into making a pressure pot, the proper way to stabilize wood is under pressure not vacuum, great vid tho! Doing this way definitely still works, just a little different
So if you will do it with in the factory and build a house out of this wood, there will be no need to look after it as it will not decay or what ever? Right?

Black Beard Projects hey man, why didnt u check the weight AFTER driving out the water?:) should be lighter
it'd be a good double check on that moisture meter too.

Info about vacuum machine like a gold! Watched like episode 2.
Thank you so much for these videos. Especially the tips at the end. You saved us from making those mistakes.
Wood handled with love !
Thanks for this nice short video. This will help me on my first attemp at stabalizing.
Awesome video. I learned a lot from this one.

I'm watching you from Turkey. And I love you
Pas mal la démonstration.. Efficacité.
Amazing video. God bless you and your ovens.
Amazing video and detailed explanation
It's cool to see how other people do this, great video man!

Cactus juice sounds surprisingly delicious
Thank you for your video. Your job is awesome.
This video is exactly what I just needed, thank you so much. Cheers man.
i have watche the full video, very cool
Great lesson those are the kind of tiny errors we make no better way to learn and never for get . Happy Trails
Awesome, thanks for sharing.
Great tips, awsome video! Thank you, came in handy as for the plastic cracking upon the vacuum process.
Thanks for sharing info on solvent based stabilizers! Good to know. Excellent video as always!
Great video. I thought this would happen. I mentioned this in your last video. Again good video
That was really cool!
You do make some of the most intricate videos i have ever watched. Keep doing you. Love the vids. You inspired me to try a few.... Keep up the good work!

Thank you 👍👍👍👍
Never heard of wenge wood it’s beautiful
Beautiful...
Great work thanks for sharing
Those are going to be beautiful knife scales.

cool man ;) but i think you should do some solid restoration.
Как всегда класс!!! SUPER!!!

Enjoyed and thumbs up as well
Te recomiendo hacer vacío primero y después incorporar el estabilizador manteniendo el vacío, se incorpora más cantidad. Saludos
Amazing
BRAVO ! interessante come tuo solito
Spectacular!! But the cactus juice is so much expensive... i utilized paraloid on aceton... but with the cactus resin the risultate is incredibile!!!! Good job black!!!!🔥🔥🔥👍👍👍👍👍
You can stabilize antique gun stocks using this method.
Nice!!
What is the name of the gasket material used to make your seal? Great video!
I find this process to be quite similar to resin-infusing composite panels and carbon fiber. Wood really is the original composite material.
um salve do Brasil + like. quantos processos pra ter madeira de qualidade. vídeo de qualidade. parabéns.

0:58 Oven drying is not necessary since the long time vacuum will extract all moisture.
Intresting work, can you tell which material you used to cover the pan and its thickness ?
When you close inlet valve do you turn off pump?
This is great! Any idea how far the resin penetrated into the wood?
to bad you didn't marinate a ribeye this way...
How long from 0 to -1.0 bar?
Thanks
Here's a question if I wanted to dry a large amount of firewood would using either a vacuum or a pressure vessel work for this application. Its more theoretical problem thats now bugging me
THANKS
Does it fit with normal epoxy
Great video..... I saw your video of making the chamber. but now you used the yellow rubber band. What is it? And thanks to put the link in the discription for buying catus juice in europe!!!!!
Thanks! The yellow rubber is a silicon tubing I found on amazon.
Cumstain wood is the best wood.
Excellent work!!!!!! Did you make the vacum Pump?
I'm from Athens Greece.
My name is Panos
Nice
hi, can you remember where you got the new seal from? thanks.... subbed
Cactus juice is two part resin. Do you mix it?
Just wondering, does the Owl have a name?
Is this same as vacuum oven and how much $$ to build one?
what is the difference between cactus juice and ordinary resin ,, I am interested and want to learn about stabwood
I feel like you could tackle any subject
good! what kind of resin is that ? is it really made from cactus? isnt it solvent based ?
I doubt is made from cactus. But yes, not solvent based! Link in description
Ma non converrebbe sostituire il plexiglass con del vetro?
Good
nice
Can I Ask : What did the new plexi lid cost you ?
Beech isn't floating?
Obejrzałem do końca, ale pojęcia nie mam po co to wszystko? Po co konserwowac 4 kawalki drewna?
Sdds de quando fazia facas
👍👍👍👍👍
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
& here I am now. Watching exactly what I typed in the last video.
👏👏👏👏
Was this a 'test run' or do you have plans for the wood you stabilised?
I'll see if I can use some of that wood as knife scales. Started with something common expecting some failure.
Great video, can you please post a link for 100term stabilizer, could not find it by searching for it on the net... appreciate your help
Wich brand was the moisture controller?
Just a cheap one found on amazon.
I thought that scale at the beginning was a Motorola Razr and got excited.
Great :D
Pome un corazón ❤ me gustan tus videos
Is this home P/T?

This is the type of vacuum to clean your phone
Perché non provi a mettere il legno nella vernice per il legno e vedere quanto penetra dentro
You are cooking wood briskets.
I know this would help warping, but you should try a strength test with longer pieces! :D
You should edit music under these videos.
Btw i like them
Will this pump make my wood bigger? It looks like it might fit
a tampa tem erro não pode ser de 10 mm e sim de 20 mm
You should look into making a pressure pot, the proper way to stabilize wood is under pressure not vacuum, great vid tho! Doing this way definitely still works, just a little different
soo, you dried 4 pieces of wood at 105 degrees celcius for a day , im surprised they resisted this
So if you will do it with in the factory and build a house out of this wood, there will be no need to look after it as it will not decay or what ever? Right?
hello very good video big like bye tcharly dessine see you later
Whats happening in the vacuum chamber? Why is the wood leaving bubbles? Or maybe is the cactus juice boiling due to low pressure?
Air coming out of the wood - leaving space for the resin to replace it.
Thank you very much for the clarification
