World Weather: Brazil Flooding

Rio Grande do Sul, including Porto Alegre, the area that's been especially hit hard by extreme flooding this past week, is expecting a second round of heavy rainfall over the next 72 hours, through May 13th. Several rounds of heavy rain and storms over the next few days will dump an additional 100-200mm (4-8in) of rainfall over the exact same area that's dealing with catastrophic flooding.
Plume of moisture being pulled from the Amazon will cause high rainfall rates in the thunderstorms over Rio Grande do Sul.
With very little time for flood waters to recede, this new round of rain will cause rapid river rises once again. Unfortunately, only little time for recovery efforts. Very concerning forecast for the Porto Alegre region.
A cold front on Tuesday, May 14th will finally push dry air into the region.
