    This could have gone from already good to perfection if they didn't cheap out on the Minifigures and the prints. Where is Robin? Where is the Joker? And last of all where are the prints for this display sets. If their competitors can do it, they can too. Give us premium quality if you charge premium prices, Lego.

    I was so excited when I saw this was coming. Even the price seemed reasonable for the size.
    Then I saw a lot of early access reviews of it, and the build experience for it looks like it could be a very boring set to build.
    Does it look good? Yes
    Does it look exactly accurate? No, but it's a close facsimile.
    I think the lack of 'features' makes this a set that I'll wait for instead of rushing to get, because it just seems like they phoned it in this time.
    Love the fair review though. Thank You

    I don't think they needed to include figures with this set or the other big Batmobiles but they've set the standard of including figures with these Batmobiles so it's understandable that people are expecting them. I already have a 60s Batman and Robin from the Batcave but it did feel like an odd thing to leave out Robin in this set and the most recent minifigure scale one. It feels a bit deliberate given how little we've seen Robin in sets recently and the fact that this Batmobile is the one with only one figure when really this is the one that should've had 2 to go with it and the other 3 Batvehicles could've skipped the extra figures. Those movies mainly feature Batman riding in those vehicles on his own while this one almost always had 2 of them in the Batmobile.
    I agree with Jang about the lack of features but I'm also not too fussed because I'm one of those people that buys a set, builds it and puts it on a shelf for years. Features would've been nice but if it saves money, then I'm okay with them leaving then out

    Fair review, as usual. I don't care about the missing Robin minifig, would have been totally okay if the Batman fig hadn't been there either. Even then at €150 it would still have felt like decent value, at least compared to other sets. As for the lack of functions, I'm a bit on two minds here. Looking back at the Ecto-1, indeed, I don't think I used them for like two years or so. But still, that amazing built experience just wouldn't have been the same. I don't quite expect that same experience here, it seems all about about the result. But then again, had they gone all out with functions, this would have been well over €200 probably. The lack of steering though....I don't really care about an actual steering mechanism, but it just looks cool with the wheels at an angle. And while I understand why it can't all be stickers (this is just Lego after all, not a premium brand like Cobi..), I think at least those bats on the side should have been prints.
    Still, mostly a great looking set, and considering I have already seen it with a nice discount, it won't take long before I'll buy it.

  • @lordly123

    This set looks amazing. I can only hope that they make a Batmobile in this scale based off of The Batman to round off their series of iconic live-action Batmobiles in large scale.
    However, and I don’t often care about minifig *selection* in non-minifig scale sets (detail/accuracy is *always* important to me), this needs Robin, as the car very explicitly is intended to hold two people at once and often does in the show. I also would like steering, not to play with, but because I think those large cars look better on display with angled wheels. Not a deal breaker though.

  • @brianstraight9308
    @brianstraight9308 2 месяца назад +2

    I agree with you on this set. It's not a... " fun" or interesting build. I don't think I "enjoyed" it until the 7th or 8th bag when its started feeling and looking more like the Batmobile and some more interesting building.
    No steering, no gimmicks, no Robin... A cheaper price. (Would you have thought a '66 Batmobile in this scale would cost $150?)
    So.. I dunno. It looks cool and I like it.

  • @DavidDarnes
    @DavidDarnes 2 месяца назад +2

    This set almost has the opposite problem other sets suffer from. As Jang has said before they make these sets to a price, which normally ends up with Lego trying to make the set worth the money by adding features in. In this case it's almost like they removed features, or figures, to fit the price. Overall though it seems more value for money than a lot of other sets of the same kind.

  • @riddleiddle

    I'm sure the sticker sheet was quite big with this set, and that probably helped keep the costs down too. Honestly find it a great value for the size of vehicle this is, and the fact that it [needlessly] comes with a minifig. The large Ghostbuster's Echo 1 car - I don't think that came with any minifigs, right? Weird they decided to put the Adam West one in this, plus a build that doesn't seem appropriate for his version of Batman [I watched the series long ago, but I don't remember him ever up on a building posing over a gargoyle].
    I absolutely love the source material and this does a good job of capturing it, though I am bugged by the not-round fenders. I do look forward to building it [it just arrived yesterday after using your affiliate link a few days after it came out and was backordered]. Also like that TLG may be finally listening to us fans about not having odd colors showing.
    Thanks for the great review as always!

    I was really excited when I saw this being announced. Now seeing the actual size of it sitting on your desk I´m even more overwhelmed. So what keeps me from getting it for myself? I can accept the stearing issue, I do agree it is a display model, but man, the stickers. I´m not a 100% sticker hater, but I´d call myself a print lover when it comes to display things for adults. No problem having stickers on playsets. But having many older used bought Ninjago Sets, I doubt the quality of the common lego stickers. They simply start to get off and lose adhesion after like 7-10 years. And for a collector this is bitter. Impossible to make them stick again, impossible to get them off completely without paint marks and glue remains on the bricks. Cleaning them is a pain in the ...well, you know. If this had mainly prints for like 50 bucks more, I would get it and I guess many other folks my age (boomer) would do so as well. At least in Europe. Oh well, but that´s life. One cannot tell a large market leading company how to run their business. (And I am the last person who wants to do so). Thank you for showing it anyhow. Greetings from Germany!

    I always got suspicious of this set's price even when it was officially announced, because it's so odd that in 2024, a licensed set that's this big (around half a metre long) with this many parts and detailing could cost the same as the much smaller Icons Corvette. It's also larger and cheaper than all the other current Icons/Creator Expert cars.
    But of course the penny drops in discovering the lack of features and the build which looks comparatively straightforward. It's probably why it's so well priced; then again, you wonder how often you'll play around with those features, so if cutting some out can get us reasonably priced sets like this, I don't mind.

    Not able to open the doors is kind of meh.. but unable to steer is just very lazy and cheap. For a display piece it should be able to put the wheels at an angle. As a modelcar collector in the past, I did put the wheels on each of them on a specific angle to have it display as I wanted it. But then again.. this is lego so it should be a easy fix.

    It's a nice set and the car looks good. But they should have either included Robin, or no minifigs at all.
    And what's up with the gargoyle? Brooding on top of one is not Adam West Batman's thing.

    The absence of action features seems like a big miss, especially considering previous sets like the Bond Aston Martin, which was LOADED.

    I remember your review of the DB5 saying to sacrifice the gadgets for a better looking car to sit on the shelf. I get it, but I don’t entirely agree. However, Lego took your advice and made a simple Batmobile that looks very good and nothing else.
    The only feature I’m missing here is opening doors. This is a BIG miss

    Respectfully, Jang, I have to disagree with your opinion on the minifigure. Personally, I think it's fine to include it in the set, and I don't believe it affects the set's value much-especially since the price is already set before the design process begins. I also think it's better for those who don’t want the figure to have an extra one, rather than for those who bought an expensive set to have to buy another just to get it. For me, the issue arises when the figure is made exclusive for the set.

    Potentially very unpopular opinion lol, but I think it would have been cool if they included a Batman and Robin in the same style as the recent Wednesday Addams' they released recently, the ~5 inch tall one. It would have been perfectly to scale, right?

    Great lego model, price seems about right. As for minifigs and large car models, it’s been kind of weird for a while. Ecto 1 and Bond Aston Martin got no figs, the DeLorean, Tumbler and 89 Batmobile did. 🤷‍♂️ This kind of set is all about the model, anyway.
    Not a set I’m going to get as this Batmobile doesn’t really mean anything to me. Still looks very nice.

    I’m not a sticker hater, but Lego making the distinction between printed/sticker plaques for some themes but not others is strange. Like… it’s the same mould as the Star Wars ones, right? Why not print all of them, aside from production costs?

    Meh. Fenders aren’t round, no engine, trunk doesn’t open. It will take a ton of work to make it what it should be. Minifigs are the least of my concern.

    With all the stickers lego has been releasing lately, I think it's safe to say, 2025 is shaping up to be the year of the sticker... That's a shame really.

    For such a big company with decades and decades of experience and having a big worldwide community/fanbase they can consult, I just don't understand how Lego can go for the worst solution. It's either no minifigs (which is ok in this case as it's indeed a build set rather than a playset) or give both Batman and Robin. I mean it's not rocket science.

    It's a package of weird compromises to me. Either include Robin, or include no minifigures at all. And either go for very high detail, or go for action features. This does neither. Luckily I am not a Batman fan, otherwise i'd be disappointet. Nice Review by the way.

    My biggest problem is the scale. Why include the minifig if it isn’t to scale?

    • @worldsheaviestjamband93
      @worldsheaviestjamband93 2 месяца назад

      They had a minifig scale version already. I would agree they didn’t need to include the minifig, but you can certainly make it displayable with a plate next to the info plate.

      @@wdsbhb Because It's been done many times the last more than ten years? The 2014 Batmobile Tumbler included figures that didn't scale with the massive model and no one made a fuss about that. Same for the 89 Batmobile from 2019, the list goes on. My problem is this massive obsession with scale to figures the last year that people have been getting uptight on. It's a nice bonus to have them, so we may as well take what we get before it gets taken away in future sets.
