Some nice goals sure, but you can't say the 1993 Canadiens roster was good. In might actually be the worst hockey team to ever win a Stanley cup. There's only one reason they won that year and that reason is Patrick Roy. He did ALL the work.
@@acharat6 You must be drunk. There's multiple hall of famers, Muller and Carboneau were cup winners on Dallas together and Carboneau won another in NJ. They had excellent defense too. Keane would also win a cup with Dallas
Watching old videos of hockey just show how much players have improved : the speed and shots are on a totally different level, it's just ridiculous. And what about the techniques of goalkeepers, wow.
I was 18 when this happened. Still the most exciting run I have ever seen. '86 was awesome, but '93 was something special. Do I ever miss the Montreal Forum. The Forum was one of the most storied buildings in all of sports......and now it is a shopping mall. :(
i was 7 and I remember all the people in my small rural community driving up and down the only road for our town honking and hollaring waving montreal canadian flags, what a time!
I've been going back to these highlights for 29 years. They broke ground for the Molson Centre 13 days later ... and it was down hill fast. Hard to believe Patrick was gone just over 2 years later.
What did Carbonneau say at 5:56??? McSorley what? What is really hilarious about that situation was that Roy did NOT want to come out at that time, I think there was 1:45 remaining. And yet when Roy became a coach he was the one who introduced the practice of pulling the goalie with 2 or more minutes to go in a game! Now it happens all the time so it's funny to think about the fact that on that occasion he didn't want to be taken off! And Bob Cole....wow was he ever fantastic. He made these games so much more enjoyable and memorable. I used to walk around as a kid repeating "Great save by Roy!!!" just trying to say it like him.
Jacques Demers and Guy Carbonneau were speaking in Québécois french. Demers asks Carbonneau :" McSorley pis qui, t'as dit, l'autre?" (McSorley and who else , you said?) , Carbonneau answers "McSorley pis euh...Robitaille" (McSorley and uh.. Robitaille) Those were the 2 Kings players that Carbonneau had identified playing with an illegal stick. Demers needed the right names to call a stick measurement ! The rest is history ;-)
When you have a Wall of Goalie in Roy and the team is a team it just cannot be beaten. How much longer before we have another, another contending team such as that of '93 or never again? Only God know!
If only we had the dominik Hasek we would develop in 1995 1996 I truly believe that was the Buffalo Sabres best chance to win a Stanley Cup was this 1993 Buffalo team all we were missing was an elite dominik Hasek
Hard to take baseball seriously, the games are way too boring and they still dont have a salary cap. Not sure if they're stilling injecting their assholes with steroids anymore or not but all kinds of tainted records in that sport. I'd rather watch a depressing hockey game than any baseball game.
ChrisB10 fuhr and Hextall were past thier primes . ROY on the other hand ! One of the best money goalies - ever . When he winked at Sundstrum . I knew the cup was ours !
Hrudy was really bad. The Kings offense is what got them to to the Stanley Cup. On both of LeClair's OT winners, Hrudy was not even in the play to try to make a save. Especially the one in Game 4.
It's great to see Montreal playing at a high level again
exactly
Now there going back to the finals again
back in the finals baby
Well game three is tonight can’t wait till they get swept
@@leaffan7479 you must cant wait till the leafs get passed the first round
tears in my eyes
Their playoff run could be summed up in one word.....Overtime
Two words........Overtime wins.
I'd say one word . Lucky !
Renergi Actually the one word is...Roy
Roy
No that playoff can only be summed up in two words: Patrick Roy.
What a team. Alot of these goals are beauties.

I love these old highlights, although it should have been the Leafs instead of the Kings lol. A Leafs Habs cup final would have been awesome
Chad B
Last cup before moon landing...
Chad B You know Mtl woulda won right ?
Would have been a classic. Waiting for the Habs to get back.
I would enjoy that because then leaf fans WOULD STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT IT
@@daveyboy_ Yeah, Montreal would have won. But it still would have been awesome to see them both in the cup final.
Love my Canadiens time for another cup.
sorry, but as long as Patrick Roy is alive, Montreal will not win the cup.

28 years, roughly 10300 days later, guess who's back?
28 yrs later The Montreal Canadiens are back in the Stanley Cup finals. Congratulations Montreal!!! Hopefully history will repeat itself.
Watching old videos of hockey just show how much players have improved : the speed and shots are on a totally different level, it's just ridiculous. And what about the techniques of goalkeepers, wow.
They have Patrick Roy to thank for their technique 😉

94 was great also... But I am biased as I grew up living in Vancouver and my dad was a Canadiens lifer
let’s bring it home this year
86 and 93 belonged to the Habs this coming from a leafs fan.
Beautiful times.
My favorite single-season of all-time

One of the most exciting playoffs and finals ever. Said a Habs fan. Me. John Leclair hacks and scores then again the next night. Loved that team.
Does this years run so far remind you of this or is that just me. Let’s go Habs.
