Depending on the speed of the rotation and winds, Tornados can have a high pitched whistle or shrieking sound as they go on their path of destruction. *Freezing cold+ strong wind* Principal: It is nice and warm outside we are having an outdoor recess *Tornado* Principal:We are having an outdoor recess:)
Oml I remember this one time when I was in 4th grade, there was a tornado that touched down somewhere nearby the school. Because the school was small and didn't have a basement, we were all rushed out of the classrooms and into the hallways. The school was so tiny we only had three hallways all of them had windows except for one. Can you imagine over 500 little kids screaming, and crying, crammed into a single hallway. Combined with panicking teachers and tornado sirens going off all around. It was absolute hell lol. We we're stuck in that hallway for nearly 4 hours. Then we learned that the tornado barely touched the ground for a few minutes before dissolving.😒 Tornados during school are fucking terrifying oof.
I remember last year at school about 4 days before my birthday we were issued a tornado watch. At that time I had an extremely big fear of weather. I was allowed to stay in the principals office until my mom could pick me up and stay with me the rest of the day. I remember at 1 point in that office the wind started going crazy and me and some of the middle schoolers went to the window. I even went to the art room to get my mind off of it. But then, after my mom picked me up, she was going to help primary, I heard on the loud speakers they played the NWS announcement for a tornado warning. Little kids started crying as well as me because again, I had a fear of weather. We sheltered for about 20 minutes. That was some of the most terrifying 20 minutes of my life. But now I’ve conquered that fear. We live in the south east of America where probability is low. I realize now that we’re pretty safe. Heck, I wanna see tornados now rather than hide from em
When I was at school, there was a bad storm, and I don't remember well, but the school was evacuated into the hallways and the power was out. I don't know what it is like with 500 students in one hallway for four hours though, all I've experienced is that during that storm, the whole 3rd grade was put into a janitors room instead of the hallways.
Depending on where you live, That’s fucked up by the school. They really should’ve been more prepared for things like that, although they don’t happen often they should still be prepare.
Don't forget about the lightning storms, there was this once when lightning struck right outside my window. It sounded like an explosion. No second in between the lightning and thunder. It was pretty amazing. If you live in Florida lightning storms are pretty satisfying am I right?
@@frizzywithglasses YEET. They literally encourage us to stay inside because there is so much lightning. I remember this one time lightning struck down after a storm and it was in a straight path. From sky to ground and was a lavender color. The sound it made sounded like a bomb went off. Luckily it's super hot now so no rain :) still sweating tho lol
It’s amazing when the lightning is so close; it sizzles. Also when the electricity in the air makes the hair on your arms stand up. I’ve been by some lightning strikes, the tree in my yard has been hit more than once, and the parking lot right outside of my apartment window, but I actually don’t remember the sound. It must have been like how some people don’t hear the crash when they are in a car wreck. It all happens so fast. I just remember the bright flash and actually feeling the bang instead of hearing it.
I'm in Florida too, one almost destroyed where my dad worked when I was seven and he was there.. it ended up picking up a cruise ship and yeeting it somewhere in the bay
I think it's really spooky at 7:14 when the tornado on the left just slides slowly to the right in an almost ghostly fashion and all the cloud close to the ground seems still but is moving with it. It feels unnatural yet appears living. The ominous music you play perfectly fits to it!
This is why I love Tornadoes. They always seem so mystical and I used to want to be a storm hunter! But now I'm too far into writing and art to go back xD
***** I agree! And same here, I wanted to be a storm chaser once, but for that I'd need to move to America to get the best of tornadoes and overcome my phobia for thunder. It's kind of ironic, I'm terrified of storms yet I'm fascinated by tornadoes.
you, sir, are in a class all by yourself when it comes to producing absolute top quality work. in other words, i’m a huge fan. just watched the video where you paired footage of the soon-to-be-ravaged houses n’ trees with slow-mo imaging of the same spots after the twister passed. powerful stuff, expertly presented with the highest quality equipment. can’t ask for better than that!
Watching these videos helps me understand why my earliest memory is of sitting on the front stoop with my daddy, watching a tornado go over the city of Richmond,va. I was, at most, 21/2 years old. They are mesmerizing
You've helped cure my irrational fear of tornados to a healthy fear. I would not be able to handle myself with thunder storms let alone tornado watches
Honestly, tornadoes aren’t an irrational fear. An irrational fear would be like thinking you could get sucked into your shower drain. Tornadoes are real and you have absolutely no control over them. None of us have the power to control them. Man, I’ve been scared of tornadoes since I was little. Now, about to be 18, still am. It’s always been my worst fear, and it sucks because others don’t seem to be as scared as I am. I’m tired of being afraid of them though, it’s annoying.
I find tornadoes fascinating, yet I’ve still had a nightmare that I can remember of one hitting my family’s cabin. I’d love to see a small to midsized one in person someday at a safe distance, in a field in the middle of nowhere, but I’d be just as terrified as anyone else if one was headed straight toward me at my house or family’s cabin. The cabin once got hit by a plough wind multiple times in one year, and the first time it happened, my family and I didn’t know what was going on. We all went to the downstairs bathroom, and I thought there might be a tornado. I cried and prayed for my life in that bathroom for 15 minutes or more until the wind died down. I’ve only ever heard it called a “plough wind”, but I don’t know what the official name for that type of damaging wind is. It whipped up the waves on the lake to a height of maybe a meter, washing board sections and the paddleboat off of the dock. Another hit later that summer during a family reunion. Almost everyone had gone to bed. I somehow slept through that one in the loft.
Thanks for not time-lapsing it. Truly beautiful. I wish RUclips didn't compress the video so much. There' so much gorgeous detail that I'm positive is lost.
Definitely cooler seeing the real-time footage compared to the sped-up stuff. I'm definitely new to the channel, but you've got me hooked, man. Keep chasing amazing storms and keep helping the wildlife you find along the way. You're one of the greats, amigo.
People come in and say "dis dumbass gonna die" and dislike. They fail to realize that not that many chasers actually die from this... at all. All it takes is research, common sense, and planning.
Going back and watching some of these videos nearly a decade later.. Hank you have always been a pro with the highest personal standards. Thank you for sharing your gift with us! Hank: "Generally I would timelapse a video like this to meet the demands of an ever-increasing ADHD society" Me, with ADHD, about to skip ahead a few seconds: Well now I don't want to.
Yecenia Martinez-Ramos, if you live in Florida, you live in one of the most most tornado prone states. We may not get the spectacular wedges, but any tornado is dangerous - and ours tend to be rain wrapped and hard to see.
@@yeceniamartinez-ramos871 sorry, that may have been poorly worded. I meant that Florida is prone to having tornadoes; especially in winter when cold fronts meet the warmer humid air down here.
A note to Pecos Hank: This video is what entirely inspired me to pursue a weather career since I was a first grader. Tornadoes are really cool (as long as they don’t kill people). I also lived in Colorado at the time and there were frequent tornado warnings in the area, only fueling my interest. Thank you man, and I really mean that.
I wasn't laughing, sped up video is like porn and crack all at the same time. Add another A to that diagnosis label for Acquired from videos and movies starting in the 80's. In that future is chaos and mindlessness. We will be product not ourselves. Attention span = lifetime!
This has to be one of the best pictures and video I have ever seen. You, sir, have been lucky to capture those two tornadoes on camera with the background like that.
Ive always been intrested from an early age in tornadoes. Before i could read i had a little hand book about funnel clouds. I used to ask random people if they had been in tornadoes themselves. Its my dream to chase these freaks of nature! 🌀
I too have been interested in Tornadoes and (basically every other type of weather) since I was little. one of the first things I ever said to my Grandma was “Grandma do you like tornadoes”
I really appreciate these real time tornadoes! makes for longer watching fun and it's crazy to see how they haul ass in real time. I know they're fast but I always have a hard time really seeing /how/ fast when the videos are sped up. absolutely love your content and am on a rewatch binge! literally can't get enough

That was so good. I love that you don't have to turn down the volume because the chasers are always screaming. He is attractive, chill, and it is a joy to watch his feed.

So glad I can watch these online instead of in person!

I've seen one in person to me it looked like it was a EF 3 but it was later confirmed as a EF1 the huge funnel cloud was 12 blocks away from me AND IT LOOKED HUGE everyone even an EF1 can be big and steal the lives of children and parents it really depends on the storm..the forces of nature...and the atmosphere of when I saw it: April,17,16 Omaha Nebraska. Somewhere near dodge the tornado hit Blair and blondo when I saw it I was somewhere near dodge
I love how you distinguished between the aficionados and the ADHD, and then at the end, anybody who watched the whole thing to the end was awarded with you calling them aficionados. But I'm sitting here, with ADHD and still watched to the end because I am so interested in tornados. I BEAT THE SYSTEM

*Freezing cold+ strong wind*
Principal: It is nice and warm outside we are having an outdoor recess
*Tornado*
Principal:We are having an outdoor recess:)
The second after summer ends my school is like INDOOR RECESS even tho it’s a billion degrees outside
your principal's an asshole then he doesn't give a shit for the school he just there for the money
They really are. My school isn’t as small but we are usually separated into hallways and we have to crouch on the floor near the walls. It’s scary
Luckily tornadoes are even less common in the northeastern U.S.
That’s scary as hell, saying that from Florida where we get our fair share of extreme weather. *COUGH COUGH* IRMAAA. P.s 4:02 is a hellish sight
@@ashh__ I have seen some crazy lightening in Florida lol Im in Tennessee so we have our fair share of tornadoes..I have been in 2 myself
That music is so eerie, like the tornados themselves are swirling up a dark and foreboding melody as they dance around each other
I'm not sure which clip you're talking about, but if you're referencing when he's recording the two together.... That IS the tornadoes.
@@teenat7044 No shit sherlock
@@annacookiesdaycores4468 You can't say that when the OP and 4 others didn't seem to know that lol

I think it's really spooky at 7:14 when the tornado on the left just slides slowly to the right in an almost ghostly fashion and all the cloud close to the ground seems still but is moving with it. It feels unnatural yet appears living. The ominous music you play perfectly fits to it!
+PlazmaReaper Wow! Yeah! That is pretty eerie!
@111112105298219395756 Plus with the dim lighting, I think it's just creepy perfection.

You've helped cure my irrational fear of tornados to a healthy fear. I would not be able to handle myself with thunder storms let alone tornado watches
these videos really helped me with my fear too, i used to get jumpy even when it rained, i’m a lot better now thanks to these videos!! :D
World's Okay-est Person jeez same. I started watching him like, 2/3 years ago.
I have an irrational fear of tornados and an even more irrational fear of waterspouts, those things are creepy as hell for no reason

Thanks for not time-lapsing it. Truly beautiful.
I wish RUclips didn't compress the video so much. There' so much gorgeous detail that I'm positive is lost.

I don't understand why people dislike videos? I mean some videos deserve dislikes. but why this one. it's like their trying to ruin their days
if they like it, they like it. if they don't like it, they dislike it. it's how it should be. how anyone could dislike tornadoes is beyond me.
i dunno i just find the voice awkward
People come in and say "dis dumbass gonna die" and dislike. They fail to realize that not that many chasers actually die from this... at all. All it takes is research, common sense, and planning.
yup agree. I mean people put their lives at risk to do this! they deserve some respect.
