Chorus : "Even facing with Bad End, we hold each other's hands, no matter how many times." it sounds like some kinds of Re:Zero situation, which they are all dead and have to retry.
MAN!!! DID SHIT GET REAL!!!!??? The finale of the 2nd season had me hooked so hard that waiting from week to week was damn near torture.....but so cathartic once it revealed itself. This show is my fuckin jam!! Even if i could care less about Moe shows
The waifus in this show are great, but of course the best are Hungry Hungry Pecorine and Karyl the Tsundere Cat. And of course, Karyl's face in episode 3 immediately after Pecorine force feeds her the (no spoilers) is the greatest expression in anime. 9:24
I came away from this show unconvinced it couldn’t be improved by replacing the male protagonist with an indestructible golden retriever (“Our Hero From Another World Is A Dog” is totally a light novel title that needs to exist). I confess, I watched four episodes of this show before putting it down. Not that thought it was bad, just that it wasn’t for me.
I think that's literally the point of the MC though, is to be a complete genre aware counter-trope. MC in traditional RPGs are the "useless early on, never speak, Neutral-Good aligned, and often attempt several things that the rest of the inhabitants think is bat-shit crazy, dumb, reckless, or totally they are oblivious to danger." When you look at it from that angle, he's a perfectly designed character for his role. He supports his OP ladies, and *they* are the actual main characters, while he slowly develops into a good side character. Also, he is precious and must be protec.
Princess Connect caught me off guard with how much I've been enjoying it. It's so fun and relaxed most of the time, but then the brief blips of ACTION are really good. Like... all of the episode one or two back was way better than I'd expect. Also, basically all the waifu's are top-tier designs, even the freakin' Llama Girl is somehow amazing. XD
Not only the game is great but also the anime adds more to the lore especially Pecorine's backstory. This was one of the smartest ways to adapt a mobile game with huge amount of contents I've seen in a long time. See you in season 2 where they might eventually start adapting the actual main plot...or not.
I feel like Priconne is an improved version of Konosuba. Which is at least as much fun, with better animation, more subtle jokes, more chill and better writing. Season 2 started great, can't wait to see how it will evolve.
I'd love to see you talk about Symphogear, since it's finished up it's 5 season run. You know those badass moments where the action is going, and the theme song is playing in the background? *That's the entire show*
I've always enjoyed your analysis in both its writing and presentation, but I will admit I haven't watched your videos in a while. I think it's funnily appropriate to come back to your work with a video on this anime in particular, and I am reminded by how much I enjoy what you do and how you do it. Thank you for everything that you do and I look forward to catching up on your videos that have been piling up for me.
You're speaking out of my soul dude. Great great video!! I thought I was the only one enjoying it smh... I think the show is super hilarious, chill with an AMAZING sound design and visuals. The tip of the iceberg for me is Kazumas voice actor. A Legend. My fav girls: Karyl - she underlines the contrast of reality and the kinda non rational guild - Catgirl - Tsun tsun - she's ADORABLE Crazy Horny Op Demon girl - all of her description above - she's hot of course - her visuals are the best
Man,your timing for these videos is crazy! I just found this series today on crunchy roll and thought it looked cool so I was about to start the first episode when I got the notice for this video! LOL.
I didn't give this show a chance at first. It wasn't until your first video about it I decided to give it a try. I normally try an anime I see one of your videos about. Not all have been hits to me, but most are. And i am now caught up with all 8 episodes of this, and haven't regretted a single second of it yet.
I have to say, one of the things I really find valuable about your videos is how you don't just talk about what you like, but back it up with real objectivity to explain your tastes and give tangible reasons why others who may not share your exact tastes would still be well served by looking into something they might otherwise have skipped.
Another great recommendation from Geoff. A surprisingly good story coupled with humor that had me laughing so hard it hurt make me want a second season.
I definitely feel like I'm growing a bit by how I've evolved from just liking action scenes to really enjoying character growth and dynamics. Also Señor Thew, have you ever considered doing a sort of "glossary of terms" video? A lot of them I can pick up through context but there are some where I'm not sure if I have it right like 'Sakuga'. (I know I can just look them up but I also like your humor and even your voice for some odd reason)
I love everything about this show. It really does feel like Konosuba but does enough different to be it's own show. I love the designs of all the characters and will pause whenever a new character is introduced to study their design. I love the slightly a-symmetrical designs!!!! Hatsune may be my best girl outside the main cast!
It's kinda expected since cygames picture, the studio working on this anime said that they had already been working on the production of this anime during the game 1st anniversary stream which is last year.
@@nightshrine4257 I think the movie was honestly pretty "bad" relatively. *SPOILERS BELOW* Hina is far too objectively nice and really has no reason to be so. It didn't delve very deep into the back story of Hodaka, so I couldn't view him as anything other than a winey teenager. Also, there would have been multiple groups, targeting Hina, the Sunshine girl, in the world that they existed in for her powers. Story as a whole was honestly a complete mess. Overall, I think it's pretty overhyped, but that's just an opinion.
I’m glad this show is getting the attention here it deserves. I watched it and felt as happy as I did when watching Konosuba, and seeing this video talk about that and the show’s overall strengths makes me quite happy.
I gave Infinite Dendogram a shot after your video on fake videogames and I have been enjoying it so far. Relaxed anime are really good for your soul sometimes and some of them, like Yuru Camp and Fox Tales have become some of my favorite period.
Dafuk is the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon background music doing here? I was just like "wait a moment, something here sounds familiar". And then I listened closer and it was the goddamn Pokemon music. Nice touch, I have to say! Really fits that escapist fantasy (as Pokemon Mystery Dungeon sometimes can be).
I don't usually watch moe stuff, but had to check this out during your seasonal picks video, so thanks (I still like Konosuba better though). It's always refreshing to see when the production staff really is having fun creating a show. It makes everyone watching it feel about 30% better. Not sure about everyone else, but my favorite "snack" is definitely Kokoro. The face she makes whenever Yuuki is being kidnapped, eaten, etc. is golden & gets me laughing every time.
#1 Pecorine is always so positive, she is like the sun, and if you get too close to her, you will reject her because of your dark nature. #2 Karyl is the most human of all three, she cares for you, but she is tsundere, so even if you like her, there will always be unnecessary drama and fighting between you and her. #3 Kokoro is the calm and loyal and gentle character, and she looks the cutest of all, ... but you will go to jail. Choose wiseley😂😅
I've seen up through the mushroom episode and if I wasn't out of my mind over Villainess I'd say this is probably the best thing this season has going right now. Except for the drug trip that is Olympia Kyklos, which deserves it's own video tbh.
To me, the most important detail you brought up was the sense of how the good times will come to an end. Or more specifically, how that... "darkness" being present and real improves the show. Kakushigoto has been doing the same sort of thing, and when I think about it, between Madoka, Made in Abyss, and The Promised Neverland, we've been seeing that mixture of Moe and darkness do really well at building tension, while GLT was, until now, the only show that really utilized this sort of thing to help release tension. With Gakkou Gurashi doing some strange balancing act between the two. I feel like Erased, Sora No Woto, and Humanity has Declined dabble in that medium as well. There's something really inviting and effective about the mixture.
Hmm. I'm really intrigued by this show. I agree that the best parts of Knosuba are those ED's, and Princess Connect Re:Dive sounds like it has a good bit of what I enjoyed about Ascendance of a Bookworm. And I'm intrigued by it despite that Konosuba really didn't work for me. I never connected with the characters, finding them frustrating more than anything. There wasn't enough plot, not even character-driven, that kept me wanted to watch after the first season. But I think what really turned me off, more than anything, was how very mean-spirited the comedy was. While I really like good satire, I've had enough mean-spirited attacks on the things I like to last a lifetime. All that really, really turned me off from Konosuba.
And that is a good synopsis of why most people adore the show, it takes the tropes we've come to expect and flips the script. Konosuba's three female leads were very specifically designed to be absolutely unlovable, irredeemably horrible human beings that could equal Kazuma in their depravity, just with different flavors of what they are depraved about. They are wonderfully petty and play off each other very well, but then you do have the sweet moments that add that little bit of sugar on top of what would otherwise be rotten horseshit like Big Bang Theory. In some ways, that makes them feel a bit more "realistic" in their interactions, in that despite being very horrible to each other in various ways, they find a way to still get along, persevere, and they manage to continuously achieve the pinnacle of a binding friendship: accruing massive shared debt!
@@pathwaystoadventure I mean, I get that Konosuba did all of that intentionally. I've never meant to suggest that they didn't succeed at what they set out to do. Or that the show isn't well-made... though sometimes I have trouble judging the objective quality of a comedy, and Konosuba is one of them. I was speaking of the reasons why it fails for me on a personal, subjective level. Like, if I want to see horrible people be assholes to each other, that's what real life is for. Disappointment like that is the forte of real people, not what I want to spend my precious free time doing. Those "moments of sweetness," as you put them, only serve to highlight how bitter the rest of it is for me. Also, fine, I get that you're one of those people that don't like The Big Bang Theory; that's perfectly fine. But why call it horseshit? I really don't like Konosuba, but I don't call it denigrate it, either. I mean, I'd rather watch Big Bang, since even though its just about character archetypes satirizing the way people view each other, at least it doesn't come across as mean-spirited as Konosuba. At least, as I see it. I just don't want to watch something that either explicitly or implicitly wants to constantly remind me that people are shit, nothing is going to go well, and what I like is stupid... all with a coat of fantasy paint and jokes that mostly don't land for me (humor is subjective).
I'd say the perfect way to describe it in few words is, K-on-suba. It's seriously K-On! and Konosuba slammed together in just the right amounts of each.

Carl Wheezer: *I.AM.SPEED.*
This is the anime everyone needs for the pandemic. It's just so relaxing.
Again laughing in game story...
but the lyrics OP seems hinting something unsettling ...
Kokkoro : "The unexpected reunion connected all the loosen line."
Pecorine : "Every time being revived, I looking for the same gentleness."
Chorus : "Even facing with Bad End, we hold each other's hands, no matter how many times."
it sounds like some kinds of Re:Zero situation, which they are all dead and have to retry.
Well you are almost correct there but we'll probably see either his past or the queen explaining what happened at the end of this series
Until the story get serious like in the game
Don't think I didn't notice the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon music in the background you slick bastard.
Now you have me wanting to replay the games.
When Geoff cued the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon theme in the background of the video I straight-up squealed.
That series needs more attention, man.
MAN!!! DID SHIT GET REAL!!!!??? The finale of the 2nd season had me hooked so hard that waiting from week to week was damn near torture.....but so cathartic once it revealed itself. This show is my fuckin jam!! Even if i could care less about Moe shows
Personally, I believe the MC talks way too much
He says like 3 words an episode. Like wtf, I am here for the stupid waifus, not him, smh my head
I forgot why hes even there
died in fantasy world and revived to another fantasy world with amnesia??? IDK
Hey he is a great and nice guy and friend

Congrats on 1Mil subscribers. Thanks for the wonderful content over the years.
The first KonoSuba ED is the most heard song in my Itunes library. I am serious. I heard that thing like 700 times
MC in traditional RPGs are the "useless early on, never speak, Neutral-Good aligned, and often attempt several things that the rest of the inhabitants think is bat-shit crazy, dumb, reckless, or totally they are oblivious to danger."
When you look at it from that angle, he's a perfectly designed character for his role. He supports his OP ladies, and *they* are the actual main characters, while he slowly develops into a good side character. Also, he is precious and must be protec.
Honestly I don't blame the MC, I would probably be a fish out of water to, if I was suddenly Isekai'd.
I love the fact you used the mystery dungeon theme tune, keep up the good work. 👍
this is perfect. i just finished watching the latest episode of princess connect re: dive XD
Me too.
I appreciate the PMD music in the background.
I feel like Priconne is an improved version of Konosuba. Which is at least as much fun, with better animation, more subtle jokes, more chill and better writing. Season 2 started great, can't wait to see how it will evolve.
Wow, i started watching princess connect after seeing this video and i instantly fell in love with it! thanks for recommending this amazing anime!
I'd love to see you talk about Symphogear, since it's finished up it's 5 season run. You know those badass moments where the action is going, and the theme song is playing in the background? *That's the entire show*
Alright, Symphogear fan.
Thanks Geoff! You did incredibly well to show how great this show is! I really appreciate this!
The MC is an RPG character in an anime
I've always enjoyed your analysis in both its writing and presentation, but I will admit I haven't watched your videos in a while. I think it's funnily appropriate to come back to your work with a video on this anime in particular, and I am reminded by how much I enjoy what you do and how you do it. Thank you for everything that you do and I look forward to catching up on your videos that have been piling up for me.
7:16 So basically, yuki in princess connect is the direct opposite of kasuma from konosuba
You're speaking out of my soul dude. Great great video!!
I thought I was the only one enjoying it smh...
I think the show is super hilarious, chill with an AMAZING sound design and visuals. The tip of the iceberg for me is Kazumas voice actor. A Legend.

Karyl
- she underlines the contrast of reality and the kinda non rational guild
- Catgirl
- Tsun tsun
- she's ADORABLE

- she's hot of course
- her visuals are the best
I'm so happy this is getting a season 2

Man,your timing for these videos is crazy! I just found this series today on crunchy roll and thought it looked cool so I was about to start the first episode when I got the notice for this video! LOL.

Thanks for getting me into this show. I LOVE it. Season 2 needs to be a thing.
We’re getting a season 2.
one of the best feels I get when playing DnD is the downtime bonding and chilling between PCs, and this reminds me of that greatly
I never thought i need an insulin for smiling from wholesomeness until now In the first couple of episode.
This anime is just

I didn't give this show a chance at first. It wasn't until your first video about it I decided to give it a try. I normally try an anime I see one of your videos about. Not all have been hits to me, but most are. And i am now caught up with all 8 episodes of this, and haven't regretted a single second of it yet.
A slice of life in a magical world
This was recommended to me again on the game getting Crunchyrolled 😢 feels hard.
Glad to see this is back, this video is what pointed me to the anime!
I love everything about this show. It really does feel like Konosuba but does enough different to be it's own show. I love the designs of all the characters and will pause whenever a new character is introduced to study their design. I love the slightly a-symmetrical designs!!!! Hatsune may be my best girl outside the main cast!
Intro of Second coming of Princess Connect Re:Dive looks like it was done by Disney on MDM and Exstasy.
You know your anime is successful when it only has 2 seasons and is nearly considered a genre
Give it another and it will
this anime more likely promoting the game. lol. but the game isnt released in global. XD
Congrats on 1M subs jeff
Geoff: The food is drawn and animated so well, that you can practically taste it, just by looking at it.

Hey Mother's Basement, when are you going to review "Weathering with You?"
And bunny girl senpai movie??
Or jojo?
It couldn’t be on cinemas in Latinoamérica because corona so we couldn’t see it legally yet
Personally I think the movie was wayyy too long for its plot.
@@nightshrine4257 I think the movie was honestly pretty "bad" relatively.
*SPOILERS BELOW*
Hina is far too objectively nice and really has no reason to be so.
"Cute girls doing various cute things."

Need a video for season 2 also.. Pure epic perfection
for real season 2 was too good
I’m glad this show is getting the attention here it deserves. I watched it and felt as happy as I did when watching Konosuba, and seeing this video talk about that and the show’s overall strengths makes me quite happy.
We as mortal men can only strive to one day gain the title of “Goddamn Tiddy Genius.”
I gave Infinite Dendogram a shot after your video on fake videogames and I have been enjoying it so far.
Relaxed anime are really good for your soul sometimes and some of them, like Yuru Camp and Fox Tales have become some of my favorite period.
Did I Just Hear a Mystery Dungeon Track Drop?
Dafuk is the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon background music doing here? I was just like "wait a moment, something here sounds familiar". And then I listened closer and it was the goddamn Pokemon music. Nice touch, I have to say! Really fits that escapist fantasy (as Pokemon Mystery Dungeon sometimes can be).
Honestly when I was watching this show it had me cooking new recipes every night lol
I've seen that white haired elf around, uh, *certain websites* recently.

The subtle serene melody of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon in the background made this video all the more enjoyable
I love the way Geoff writes. He writes a script like we're having a conversation.
I've seen up through the mushroom episode and if I wasn't out of my mind over Villainess I'd say this is probably the best thing this season has going right now.
Except for the drug trip that is Olympia Kyklos, which deserves it's own video tbh.
Season 2 was announced yesterday!!
Sadly no.
Ngl this looked like just another anime in the back that I will never watch. Until now.
Those EDs from konosuba are quite a welcomed whiplash of tone going from silly meanspirited lapstick to hearthwarming feels.
Me seeing another princess cutie show: ehhh, I'll skip this one.
Video: if you like food porn this is for you.
Me: I've got time.

"along with all of konosuba, including the movie"

This shows art style and story is like a nice soft warm memory
0x0 = Kokoro
I'd say the perfect way to describe it in few words is, K-on-suba.
It's seriously K-On! and Konosuba slammed together in just the right amounts of each.
