Sinister does not have an "illogical" ending. It is shown very clearly in the movie that the demon films the children attacking their family, and those who view the film activate the curse. The demon then haunts the family and takes control of a child, and makes them believe that if they move out everything will be over, while in fact that's exactly what it wants: the family to move out and spread the curse. He always waits until the family has moved out before killing them so that the new house hosts the cursed tapes. The big twist of the movie was that the father realized that he doomed his family by moving out. What was so good about sinister is that it's not a single house that is haunted, but multiple houses getting cursed the more the victims try to run away.
Yeah, I thought that was pretty obvious, too. It’s a logical ending but they almost ruined the movie by showing Bagul at the end because he looked like what he was-some dude wearing a costume. I love the movie, but I always stop it before that part lol.
Yeah, the fact he was drinking the spiked drink just as he got the call from the police officer was SOOOO freaking good! You get the "Oh shit!" moment the exact same time as the main character as he realise he has doomed his family, and the police officer was just moments too late to give him the necessary information he needed to connect the remaining puzzle pieces. The fact he did what any sane person would do, and actually try to run away from the obviously dangerous being, only for it to turn out to be the plan all along is honestly so cool! I remember thinking "Why doesn't the ghoul just kill them right now?!" a few times in the movie, but it is explained by the ending.
I think the "illogical" part is that a 7 year old girl could tie up and murder an entire family with an axe, unless the curse also gives her superhuman strength.
@@mxp720 Right lol?? I still like the movie but I pretty much stop at the tainted coffee part. I think it’s a good movie, but if they had stuck the landing, it could’ve been great.

Just about to reply the same thing! I went in expecting not to care about Dr. Sleep, and it was way better then expected. Actually I thought it had pretty good reviews if not a great box office.
Personally, I think it ruined the idea of mystery. You get to see the monsters, and the ending is changed. It also outright tells you where the monsters came from. Not saying it's a bad movie by any means, I would say it's pretty good, I just think the book was better.
The Skeleton Key was a good movie! I don't think it got the marketing it deserved, and didn't connect with critics, but that's not because it's bad. I thought the acting was good, there was a whole southern Gothic vibe going on, the story was compelling, and I truly didn't see the twist coming. It's not life-changing, but it's a solid spooky watch.

Doctor Sleep was an awesome film in my opinion. The director had a near impossible task to try and stay loyal to fans of the motion picture while also keeping the author happy. The fact that he successfully walked that tightrope is astonishing.

THE SKELETON KEY was a kick ass movie. Most people did not see that twist coming at the end. It's one of the better horror movies filmed in my state in the last 20 years ( the other being THE MIST, which I've said a million times was filmed in my hometown and I got to be in,blah blah, etc. ). And the atmosphere of THE SKELETON KEY and Gena Rowlands performance was excellent. She pulled off a great southerner, for someone from NY.

Funny Games actually reminds me of the recent murders by Kusai Al-Jundi and Mohamed El-Aboud, where Kusai brutally killed an elderly woman then posted cringey TikTok videos of him giggling and dancing in her house saying it was his now. I am actually surprised we have not gotten a cringe TikTok murder thriller.

According to Romero, there was no intended race commentary in original Night of the LD. This gentleman was the best actor who auditioned. The ensuing social commentary was coincidental. Great movie, and easy to read this into it, tho.
Describing Ari Asters ‘There’s something about the Johnson’s’ as darkly comic, was a strange comment, she’s clearly not viewed it, I certainly never found the comedy element in dad rape
I'm surprised Cabin In The Woods didn't make the list. I definitely wasn't expecting that ending, and to say it disturbed me is doing an injustice to the word "disturbed."
Flanagan did not "turned his attention" to the mirror. He made into a film one of his earlier shorts, also called oculus and portraying that same mirror.
Why do they wedge Hereditary into EVERY list? I feel like the writers of these lists need to broaden their viewing selection. The original Black Christmas had an absolutely chilling ending. There are many other films that would fit better on this list than half the ones that were chosen.
I don’t remember Ethan Hawkes character in Sinister being an alcoholic tho. The ending of Insidious was pretty great, too bad it was left off the list. Poor Elise…I would also add the ending of Brightburn to this list.
He wasn't an alcoholic, the snuffs were taking a massive toll on him. The increasing alcoholic consumption was a plot device to show that. I'd put down good money that she's never seen most of these flicks.
8:31 "It's no coincidence" It actually was a coincidence. He was casted purely for his talent, regardless of his appearance. The extra meaning was a complete accident.
Can we just STOP talking about “The Mist”. It’s included in sooo many lists and there’s never any new information presented. It is a good movie, but it’s way too over discussed and at this point adding it to a list is a waste of time.

Do NOT refer to Doctor Sleep as flop. That movie will be appreciated by future generations of cinema aficionados. Doctor Sleep as a film is a masterpiece.
Bens death in night of the living dead was nothing to do with race it was the case that neither side did anything to alert the other and the posses mentality of shoot first ask questions later that caused bens death
4:30 "darkly comic" tf? did you even watch it?? No, no, no, there is no comedy there, don't make people think that. Skip it. Also, praising Sinister 2 and dissing Skeleton Key. Seriously, have the writers even bothered to watch the movies??
your lists about the ending of "the mist" always neglect the extra gut punch of the military arriving and the camera focusing on the woman in the back of the truck with her 2 kids - the same woman who left the store early in the movie, against the advice of everyone else including the protagonist, because she was determined to try and rescue her kids. the whole story is basically about courage in the face of the unknown, and how if he had shown the same courage she did to actually try and survive instead of giving up, his son would still be alive.
Martyrs 2008 is the scariest movie ever with the most disturbing ending of any movie. Try to watch it if you can(it is in Frech but there are English dubs)
Do you even horror? Some of these takes are ludicrous and I'm only 2 movies in! if this is your own script, re-evaluate your ability to, y'know, watch movies. If it's someone else's, pass it along and refuse to read their work. Where's tilly? Edit: I'm sorry, did you just say "Better than the original; Sinister 2"? Imma a head out
There is absolutely no similarity between anything in Skeleton Key, much less the ending twist, and I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream. Literally nothing in common. Not even close. It's clear that whoever wrote this list only knows Harlan Ellison's work in name and has never read it. Furthermore, you have to be a complete chucklehead to even hint at Sinister 2 being better than the first. The sequel was absolute trash and that is a very commonly held opinion. I'm guessing the presenter doesn't know any better, because anyone with sense would throw this script back and say "Fix this because there is no way I'm putting out a video of me reading this shite".
House in the woods, Anything for Jack, Rosemary's baby, the decent..more i think of it almost 80% horror movie ending are what u would consider disturbing

For sure, that's a huge gut punch. moreso than Occulus
Yeah, that one stuck with me. Should replace Hereditary on....every list, actually.
I loved lending Kill List out to people and not telling them a damn thing about it going in. Me: "what did you think of the ending?" Them: "what the FUCK, man!"
I’m obsessed with Kill List, but the first time I watched it, I absolutely hated it…because of the ending. Not sure I can think of a horror movie that gutted me as much as Kill List…Oculus pissed me off at first, too lol
Was scrolling so long for this comment. Would’ve been #1 for me without a doubt.
If you do a sequel video, might I suggest Martyrs (2008) that ending is truly horrifying.
According to WotCulcha, there are only 50 horror movies & 6 of them are Hereditree.
And they keep flip-flopping their opinions.
@@megatronjenkins2473 Scream is their favourite no doubt, even a clip of it is here, when no Scream movie is present. There are so many amazing horror movies they never include here.
@@megatronjenkins2473well yeah...dozens of people work there & a half dozen write these...there's bound to be differing opinions.
Holy crap I love this comment.
5 of them are The Mist, and 7 of them are Midsommar
Love Occulus, that ending never ceases to chill one's blood.
Every time I watch it I remember how much I love it, and the ending is so depressing.
Fallen is one of my favorite movies of all time, wholly underrated, love the inclusion.
Watched it again recently & it still holds up well for being 25 years old
Great list, all fantastic films - looks much like my "rainy weekend" watch list!
This being a horror movie channel I'm surprised by the disrespect for Doctor Sleep. It's a very solid film and easily a formidable sequel to one of the best horror films of all time.
I absolutely love Sinister, but thought Sinister 2 was borderline unwatchable. Risk you take having child actors carry most of the film and having them be incredibly annoying/not seasoned enough on screen.
The only watchable parts were the snuff films. Everything else was awful
Yeah, I don't know what's more daft...saying that the ending of the first was 'nonsensical and silly' or saying that 2 was 'better than the original' or even good.
@@KaminoNekoEllie’s terrible. She started out so great but recently all her reviews have been intentionally bad to induce angry comments (of which I’m clearly guilty this video).
I couldn’t even finish it.
Most indeedy !
So I mean the director said Ben just happened to be Black in NotLD. It wasn't a social commentary, good lord.
So much THIS!
Whoa whoa whoa...There will be no bad mouthing Dr Sleep while I'm around. That's a great movie!
Pretty sure there was a scene early in Fallen where a cat on the street rubbed against one of the people Azazel possessed, plus the blink & miss it first cabin scene where the same cat from the end darts underneath into the basement.
Yep. That scene is absolutely there. The cat thing did not come from nowhere. They really should fact check before they shit on something
I am missing the most disturbed horror ending of any horror movie out there: Dead Silence. Great film, very disturbing plot twist at the end of the movie that gives you chills all over😬
That one scared the bejesus out of me when I was younger, I definitely agree with you. Haven't watched it since then, but maybe I should with new eyes.
@@k9qtea It is the only movie so far I also have trouble with re-watching😅
@DJWezzyK apparently there's an alternate ending that people like more than the theatrical one.
@@k9qtea Which ending did you get?-spoiler- I got the ending that the guy became the doll and his new stepmother was the ventrilliquist? If I spell that word right.
This is my guilty love film 😅 I love that movie creepy, simple, easy watch, effective. I usually hate movies like Dead Silence and lump them in with generic Blumhouse horror but I've rewatched it about 7 times and it's a fun, creepy ass horror movie. And yes the ending is kick ass. And that corpse puppet reveal... EW 😂
A Serbian Film? It does not get any worse than that
That isnt horror. That film is straight fucked and Im pretty sure it got banned in most countries so that cant ever be shown on youtube
Oh look The Mist and Funny Games are on a What Culture list yet again .I'm surprised The Decent isn't on here as well.
Don't forget Scream too.
I LOVE WHATCULTURE SOOOOO MUCH! And I don’t feel worthy of correcting you guys but I’m sorry but I have to. And the 11:00 mark she said that we are never told the demon can possess the body of an animal. That’s incorrect. I’m 46 and have seen this movie a lot and recently showed my girlfriend who is 27 and had never even heard of the film. And I noticed (for the first time) that in the middle of the film there is a scene where the demon is watching Denzel from a window sill via what, you ask… yep… a cat. ❤️ Whatculture I’m not British but this is my wheelhouse! You should hire me 😂😉 keep up the amazing work though!!!!
I'd say the ending of "Insidious" was pretty damn disturbing (or at least it is for the first few viewings.) Also, S7VEN and Fallen are AWESOME. I loved the ending of both, just... Soul shattering goodness ❤
Dr sleep was a BOMBASS MOVIE!!! And Skeleton Key SCARED THE CRAP OUTTA ME!
It terrified me as well
Funny Games actually reminds me of the recent murders by Kusai Al-Jundi and Mohamed El-Aboud, where Kusai brutally killed an elderly woman then posted cringey TikTok videos of him giggling and dancing in her house saying it was his now. I am actually surprised we have not gotten a cringe TikTok murder thriller.
I think there is at least one that exists..I think. Maybe not TT specific, but Spree (2020) is pretty close in my opinion.
That being said, I feel like we're getting eerily close to Funny Games being the meta with "prank" for clout channels gettting more rampant.
Fallen is such a great movie. The fact that Azazel says “remember I said this was about the time I almost died”. Such a good line.
Wow, you crack hard on these movies, all of which I love. Ellie, wtf horror movies do you actually like?
According to Romero, there was no intended race commentary in original Night of the LD. This gentleman was the best actor who auditioned. The ensuing social commentary was coincidental. Great movie, and easy to read this into it, tho.
This channels host have tested positive for severe white guilt. It's quite disgusting.
In Hereditary, Paimon already entered Peter after he got up from falling through the window.
honestly surprised that "Eden Lake" wasn't included here....
Nah, Eden Lake has been on a hundred list's before.
This is the first place I’ve ever heard sinister 2 being referred to as “better than the original”
Describing Ari Asters ‘There’s something about the Johnson’s’ as darkly comic, was a strange comment, she’s clearly not viewed it, I certainly never found the comedy element in dad rape
Thank you. What’s darkly COMIC in “The Strange About The Johnsons”(2011)? 😬
“Not a lot to recommend about the Skeleton Key” - it’s a great film
I'm surprised Cabin In The Woods didn't make the list. I definitely wasn't expecting that ending, and to say it disturbed me is doing an injustice to the word "disturbed."
The Beyond where they all get sucked into hell through the painting and everyone is damned for eternity
Yes the end of the movie Life was quite disturbing as well as the end of the Cloverfield Paradox.
Whenever the inevitable "10 more" list is done, add "Speak No Evil".
Also: Martyrs
Inside
The Ring
Buried
The Babadook
Ms. 45
Return of the Living Dead
I seriously thought you would at least give Goodnight Mommy (2014) an honorable mention.
I would love a sequel for The Skeleton Key.
Oh shit. An ongoing series of movies with new actors rotating
A continuing story of the souls, not the faces
@@PapaBPoppin Yes.
Get Out was the sequel to it
@@jackchop1576 HAHAHA!!!
I actually prefer when a horror movie has a “bad” ending rather than a happy ending, it seems more realistic Yknow?
Finally!!! A list they managed to squeeze _Hereditary_ onto!
Eden Lake had a very nasty ending as well.
How is Fallen’s ending unpredictable? The scene where the demon hops from person to person on the sidewalk started with a cat!
Fallen was surprisingly good. I remember catching it on a saturday afternoon as a kid by accident. Was pretty gripping the whole way thru!
Flanagan did not "turned his attention" to the mirror. He made into a film one of his earlier shorts, also called oculus and portraying that same mirror.
I watched Eli thinking it was the book of Eli, my friend was very confused when I was telling her about it.
from around the same time as night of the living dead - i always thought rosemary's baby had a very disturbing ending
The final line in this video -- the line about A Serbian Film -- was genius. Nice going.
This a fantastic list great job as always 👏
Alien : Covenant is another crazy ending. It deserves mention
Dr. Sleep is far from "so so", it's a great flick!
"I told you this was the story about how I ALMOST died." Loved Fallen!
11:56 I didn't mind the winking. I didn't mind the fourth wall breaks. But when they pulled out that fucking remote, I lost ALL respect for Funny Games. I didn't have much to begin with, but a cheat that massive put it beneath my contempt.
I won't allow doctor sleep slander
You hit the topic on the head right from the beginning. Sticking the landing for horror IS tough.
Dr Sleep was woefully unappreciated. Shame on you for perpetuating it’s dismissal.
I loved Skeleton Key. I went in completely blind and was utterly mind fvcked ❤
I loved Dr Sleep. It was very true to the novel.
Would You Rather should have gotten an honorary mention. The ending was very depressing.
who ever wrote this knows very little about horror there was never a poltical message in Night of the Living dead and Ben was white in the scrip that whole race thing was added by the fans and not something George ever intended to be in the film
My all-time favorite horror movie
So glad to see and hear multiple fellow fans of the film that haven't been brainwashed by this racial ridiculousness.
White guilt is a helluva drug.
Do NOT refer to Doctor Sleep as flop. That movie will be appreciated by future generations of cinema aficionados. Doctor Sleep as a film is a masterpiece.
Sinister 2 sucks and doesn’t come close to Sinister in story atmosphere or it’s ending.
Bens death in night of the living dead was nothing to do with race it was the case that neither side did anything to alert the other and the posses mentality of shoot first ask questions later that caused bens death
Thank you! Glad I'm not the only one tired of this ridiculous theory.
@@istillfunction8691 im fed up hearing about racism was the reason ben was treated the way he was at the end
I was not anticipating "quick trip out of the window" 😂
You lost me the second you said that Sinister 2 was better than the original. The sequel doesn't exist in my mind, the original was excellent.
4:30 "darkly comic" tf? did you even watch it?? No, no, no, there is no comedy there, don't make people think that. Skip it.
Also, praising Sinister 2 and dissing Skeleton Key. Seriously, have the writers even bothered to watch the movies??
Great list
your lists about the ending of "the mist" always neglect the extra gut punch of the military arriving and the camera focusing on the woman in the back of the truck with her 2 kids - the same woman who left the store early in the movie, against the advice of everyone else including the protagonist, because she was determined to try and rescue her kids. the whole story is basically about courage in the face of the unknown, and how if he had shown the same courage she did to actually try and survive instead of giving up, his son would still be alive.
Martyrs 2008 is the scariest movie ever with the most disturbing ending of any movie. Try to watch it if you can(it is in Frech but there are English dubs)
Sinister 2 doesn't even compete with part 1, what are on about Ellie?😂
Do you even horror? Some of these takes are ludicrous and I'm only 2 movies in! if this is your own script, re-evaluate your ability to, y'know, watch movies. If it's someone else's, pass it along and refuse to read their work. Where's tilly?
Edit: I'm sorry, did you just say "Better than the original; Sinister 2"? Imma a head out
What drugs are you taking to claim that Sinister 2 was better than the original? It is just bearly watchable where as the first is outstanding.
Such a casual retelling/summary of the endings of Sinister and The Mist... 😭😭
I thought they just said the nightmare sequence in Skeleton Key was reminiscent of I have no mouth, not the ending or plot...
House in the woods, Anything for Jack, Rosemary's baby, the decent..more i think of it almost 80% horror movie ending are what u would consider disturbing
I watched Funny Games with the wife. Not a good ‘date night’ movie.
The instant they said “Praise the sequel’s ending” when talking about Sinister, I knew this wouldn’t work, the sequel is so garbage
Why are we saying sinister 2 was better than the original? Sinister 2 was a paint by numbers movie and so underwhelming but she brings it up twice as better than the original. I can’t get on that train.
Denzel said he felt it was too demonic.
