He's the most "musical" player out there among the top guys right now, IMO. What he does is very difficult and technically sound of course, but maybe not to the level of the new age shred virtuoso types. But his playing IS tastier to my ears than theirs and far more "Musical" and emotional.

Martin Miller and Chris Buck...two of the most amazing guitarists in 2022.
The solos these guys do are some of the best things to happen to me in along time. I've been playing in bands for pay for 50 years. I have heard some of the most historic guitar solos that will ever be played but I have to say the emotion and spirit that I felt when I heard this was one of the best things I have ever experienced.

I envy the audience that was able to see this amazing demonstration of vocal and instrumental skill live. Ben Jud's smooth baritone voice, the melodic flourishes of Chris Buck's guitar playing, and Martin Miller's soulful improvisation on the strings was such an outstanding combination as to be tantamount to a musical religious experience. Thank you for sharing this performance with those of us who could not be there in person.

At times, Chis Buck's phrasing kinda reminds me of Derek Trucks even though there is obviously no slide involved. Sounds like singing with his guitar - it's so good.
I get the feeling that he has studied Derek Trucks at length and incorporated a lot of his "vibe" into his repertoire.

Martin is an amazing guitar player with an amazing technique, but here was the different to me that I got a goose flash at Chris solo. I love his kind of playing !!!!

These guys with $15k vintage fenders and amps and Chris could plug that $350 Korean Yamaha into a fisher price stereo and make anyone sweat.

@@PeterOevergaard1 Chris's gold top revstar is a custom shop, yes, but he usually (like in this video) plays a standard off-the-shelf revstar 502 or 502t. They can be found used for under $400 all day. I got mine for $350 and it's one of the best playing guitars I own.
@@BigSh00tsie its a rs502t, and that model cost new 7-800$, so its not a "350$ guitar" even tho you can get one used for that 😊

I came to a point in which I can play guitar decently. Give or take, all guitar players sound the same to me. But Chris Buck has that feeling, that expression and unique phrasing that makes everything he plays sound magical. Fantastic. By the way, Ben Jud's vocals are great!

I don't know if that is really the case, but it seems to me that the way Chris improvises is really similar to what a saxophonist would do, so that's why his solos have some really nice and touching melodies. Every time I listen to him, I have the impression that a saxophone would sound like that if plugged into a guitar amp. What an incredible player!
He uses a few 4 note sax licks.
Does anyone have a rough idea, what goes into Chris' sound? It's somehow open and tight at the same time... Would appreciate an idea how to get in that direction. Thank you!
