Taking a colonial heritage drive in Kolkata, India is a journey back in time to the days of British colonial rule. The city, also known as Calcutta, was the capital of British India during the 19th century and many of the buildings and structures from that era still stand today.
As you drive through the city, you will also see other colonial-era buildings such as the St. John's Church, the oldest Anglican church in the city, and the Writer's Building, which was once the seat of the British government in Calcutta.
Next, you will drive through the historic district of North Kolkata, known for its 19th century colonial-era buildings. Here you will see the grand mansions and townhouses that were once the homes of wealthy British merchants and officials. The architecture of these buildings is a blend of Gothic, Renaissance, and Indian styles.
Throughout the drive, your guide will provide insight into the history and significance of each building and structure, making it a truly immersive and educational experience. The colonial heritage drive is an opportunity to discover a side of Kolkata that is not often seen, showcasing the city's rich history and cultural heritage
No city in India can match this grandeur of Kolkata❤.It seems that you are driving in an European city.
European style grand buildings on top and Village mela style road side food stalls occupying the pedestrian path below . Dirty and smelly roads with people bathing and eating and sometime pissing at the same place. Semi naked men pulling load on their back or pushing carts the same way people used to do in 18th century. If that is like Europe then yes ☺☺
Every where is garbage and tarpaulin cover
You have not seen Europe for sure.. But in a true sense Kolkata looks much cleaner than Mumbai and Delhi
Good effort to show the old Kolkata . Thanks . What a sorry state of affairs ! 😢😢 We ruined this once beautiful city and some more simply dont realize that it looks dirty !
