ive done 3 marathons and this is one of the best thing ive done on my 24 years of life. i will NEVER stop running till my legs breaks or my knee tears appart run to the hills!
What an inspiring film. I watch the trailer before every run. RIP Leah. Didn't know you passed away. Even though I never knew you, it broke my heart. Did a 10 km run in memory of you.
I first saw this movie with a bunch of other runners at a runner's expo before a marathon. I loved it then and I love it now, after watching it about 10 times on DVD.
In 2008 my coach told me and my peers to go watch this film. It was the final psychological push that helped me run and finish the marathon. I was 12 .
My 1st marathon was supposed to be the only one, I ran it to celebrate my reborn, the love of my family and friends, but like the friends I've been gifted to share the roads, hills and mountains in their sweet company, I've paved my life to a new wonderful way of living.
Why don't they make such movies now a days. Are there any that I am unaware of. Please suggest! I watched 2nd part of this movie. It is not as appealing as this one. I watch this trailer everyday when I exercise.
Will go down in history as one of the great documentaries ever made..few flaws but definitely gr8 ! The pacing is superb, especially the awesome lines from the pros at the beginning..
hwyfan honestly I am not sure the exact details. I am a FB friend with her, and on Feb 3rd several posts from her friends were made reporting her passing. It's really sad. She was a very kind individual.
Kyle P it is unfortunate. She did seem like a nice person and sincere in her commitment to helping others. I'm just surprised not to see any mention of it in the obituary/death notices in the major Chicago papers.
hwyfan I'm not sure how it is with Chicago newspapers, but obituaries have become a bigger revenue source for many newspapers acrossed the country as newspaper sales have dropped. The obituary prices have become more expensive as a result. It wouldn't surprise me if her family decided to not pay for an obituary. Besides with social media like Facebook and other sights almost makes obituaries obsolete.
Long time ago on RUclips there was the same trailer but with different music, am I not mistaken? I much preferred the old one - can it be seen anywhere?
Pensamento do Clésio Corredor
I love running. I really like this trailer, and the movie was great. One of my favorite parts, is when Lori says " O my gosh, I am going to be running for 4 + hours, what was I thinking...THAT'S IN SANE" LOL
As a first step in a series of marathon documentaries the "Spirit of the marathon", should be focusing on the original marathon course: The Athens Classic Marathon...
0:55 i was there that day (1982 athens) greatest memory ever watching this great human being from switzerland finish the marathon. Her mind conquered the depleted body.
+Thanos Syro It was actually at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles where Gabrielle Andersen Scheiss (SWI) had the dramatic finishing lap and stagger.

How did she pass?
@@roxybent I don't know.
The music building up to the horn at 4:15 brings me such nostalgia from when I ran the first marathon in 2015.
I first saw this movie with a bunch of other runners at a runner's expo before a marathon. I loved it then and I love it now, after watching it about 10 times on DVD.
...still thrilling me: again and again and again and... Thumbs up, runners!

This is Gabriela Anderson Schiess at the end of the 1984 Women's Olympic Marathon in Los Angeles.

This is the best film I've ever seen. Cant wait to see it one more time
I remember watching this before my first in Chicago, and hearing the music is bitter sweet, since first is best, at least for many.
I want to see this. My hubby and I are signed up for a half. We want to do a few of those before we do the full!
did you do the full by now?
@@Skateboardfreakist no
A true masterpiece, this movie is just brilliance..
RIP Leah! You inspired so many people. You will be missed.
What happened ? I looked and didn't see any obituary for her.

Michał Wolański
I remember that. Can't find it anymore
WHERE CAN I WATCH THIS MOVIE?
today is a terrible day in the history of the marathon. I watch this and fear that it is gone forever. Why did this have to happen?
Thank you.
Saw the movie. Awesome trailer btw

I got it! Hermoso
Yet at the same time, the human spirit and kindness prevailed. Terrible, though, that it had to take a tragedy like this...
