  • The Westwego Shrimp Lot in Westwego, LA is a must-visit spot for any seafood lover visiting the New Orleans area. The Westwego Shrimp Lot is located at 100 Westbank Expressway which is about 22 minutes and 12 miles away from the New Orleans French Quarter. This 10-acre market opened to the public in 1977 and is now home to 14 vendors selling fresh, locally caught seafood. You'll find everything from shrimp and crawfish to oysters and alligator meat. Market-Wego is the only one of the Shrimp Lot vendors selling prepared food offering delicious dishes like boiled seafood, fried seafood, cracklins, tamales, rabbit, frog legs, turkey necks, po'boys and boudin! The Westwego Shrimp Lot is also a great place to find Cajun and Creole cooking at the nearby Segnette Landing Restaurant along with swamp tours. The Westwego Shrimp Lot is a great place to spend a day exploring the bountiful seafood options of Louisiana. With its fresh seafood, friendly vendors, and delicious food, it's no wonder that this market has been a Greater New Orleans area institution for over 40 years.

The Low Country Boil they do in the Carolinas just always seems too bland everytime I've tried it. Glad it is easier to order some Louisiana boil spice mix to kick it up if needed! One of my friends that owns a crawfish boil business in NOLA has been getting lots of events on the East Coast lately from Virginia down through the Carolinas and Georgia so maybe that will help shift the taste profiles to loving the spice more like we do! Of course you have a lot more beautiful mountains in NC than Louisiana has and the weather is quite a bit cooler which I enjoy than the humid funk we get to endure around NOLA. Thanks for watching!
