It is a brand new unit and was being delivered from Derby to Eastleigh, but I believe the front 47 had some issues between Market Harborough and Kettering so was stuck for around 3 hours. When the new 47 from Leicester came to pick it up, they cancelled it and sent it up to sit in Leicester while they made a decision when to send the set back to Eastleigh. I believe it is still sat in Leicester all these days later! Waiting until it can be moved.
Thank you! It wasn’t in service, it was simply a new unit for SWR being delivered from the factory in Derby to Eastleigh in the south where it will be prepped for service and testing.
Wow, cracking video David. We saw that EuroPheonix 37 too. Gorgeous machine. Thanks for posting.
Thank you! Was an absolutely lovely thing to witness!
I disliked it i will chaing my mind if there s mor pasinga trains
Nice seen a few of those 66s and Huddersfield Town was at Leicester yesterday.
Very nice!
Great video. Loads of classic traction making music.
I have to agree!
The unit 47739 pulling the SWR coaches broke down in Desborough 15 mins after leaving Kettering
Indeed, I did hear about that! Not a very good day for the 47s!
@@DMTrainspotting The perils of bank holiday perhaps.
It was stuck in Desborough for a good few hours, they had to send 47739 from Leicester. From what I got told it was 701029 that failed? 🤨
Ah, I didn’t know that! But that would make sense!
Think the brakes failed on the 701
Is the whole station bidirectional then? Very interesting movements!
Yep, all 4 lines through Kettering are bi-directional! In fact, I believe a majority of the MML is the same!
Wonderful video. I went there on the 29th❗️😄
Oo nice!
Brilliant, thank you! Can you tell us what was going on with the 'out of area' SW unit please?

There's a Class 47 on the front pulling it, plus the Class 701 is a 3rd rail only unit,
