Great reaction - love Mirror Mirror for it's changeups and prog feel - and as for Monochrome - I'm just in love 😂. Three versions - all great (omg the live)- and a song with wonderful, if somewhat sad/melancholic meaning.

Great double reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊 That's good you have seen them live - from what you said that was at one of their festival appearances this year.
I know what you mean about liking to listen to the studio recordings of songs when you are in the comfort of your own home ... but BABYMETAL themselves say their live performances are where they are at their very best ... and they are one of those rare bands where that is actually true.
I like to say their albums and studio recordings are like taster menus, so you will get an idea of what to expect if you order the dishes from that menu, but you will only get the full flavour with all the additional garnish and spices if you order the full dish.
BABYMETAL's live performances are that full dish, they add all those extra flavours etc with the performance, visuals (very important with them) and crowd interaction and even the main ingredients (the audio, vocals, instrumentals) are better too.
An outdoor festival show is definitely not the best setting to see Babymetal in. Their performance is so theatrical that it really needs a darkened venue to bring in all the video and lighting effects that they like to use.
Yeah, it was still nice to see the movements/choreography that they have set, but from watching the live videos, and other settings they can be, yep, definitely would much rather see them in that setting for sure.

Honestly, "Mirror Mirror" is not my favorite song from the TOO album, I still prefer "Believing".
And "Monochrome" is my favorite song from the TOO album. I suggest you check out the live version at the PIA Arena of the song "Monochrome".
If you have and you want to see the difference in crowd participation for this song you can see the fancam from their World Tour in Jakarta, almost the entire crowd was singing along. And it was an best moment for me to be there.

Subscribed. Two awesome performances by BABYMETAL. Although the live performances of Monochrome are superior, this MV is also excellent and drew a lot of attention to the meaning of this song. 🦊 🖖❤

It’s why I like how some bands do their visual art for videos like this as it can express the emotional part, but their representation art of their live performances also match up with it! Thanks for the reaction. Yes, I do hope you check out the live versions next. Lives are superior in every capacity, including instrumentally, and vocally. After those, I recommend checking out the Lives of Believing, Time Wave, and Light and Darkness (all either Black or Clear Night on the same channel) as well.

Thank you for that and the recommendations! I can see that especially with the live experience they do provide. It’s that way for Metallica for me, where I prefer their live over their recordings, but I wish they would re-record their old music as I prefer their older albums like and justice for all and ride the lightning, and I think they would sound so great with todays quality. Most Babymetal Official MV's such as this one of Mirror Mirror use studio audio over LIVE footage and Babymetal is always better with LIVE audio. The Monochrome version you selected was a lyric MV.

BabyMetal began in 2010 there were Suzuka Nakamoto age 12 Moa Kikuchi and Yui Mizuno. Both Moa and Yui were 11 years old All three girls were friends and classmates who attended an idol group (Sakura Gakuin) founded in 2010 by Amuse Talent Agency for girls 10 to 15. Themed around school life (they attended regular school as well) the girls would learn and train at vocals, dancing, public speaking and etiquette, etc., graduate at age 15 and then move onto whatever entertainment path they chose or that suited their talents.
Key Kobayashi was a music producer for Amuse and heard Suzuka sing at age 9 and was impressed with her strong vocals and stage presence. Kobayashi was a fan of heavy metal but believed that the genre had become stale and tired (especially in Japan) with metal bands getting old Kobayashi believed the genre needed to be reborn (BabyMetal means the birth of a new metal genre). Kobayashi felt that Suzuka had the ability to front a metal band and that her vocals and presence could withstand the metal guitars and drums. The fusion of Jpop and Metal began. He placed Moa and Yui as backup singers/dancers and a phenomenon was about to result.
At first Amuse showed little interest and the girls had financing mainly from Kobayashi. They performed at strip malls and small venues using clothes borrowed from friends and family. No money for a real band they had friends dressed in homemade skeleton costumes pretending to play instruments to a backtrack. They became a sensation (these young ladies paid their dues). Amuse saw the potential and in 2012 hired the best session musicians Japan had to offer (The Kami Band) who tours with them today (now includes world class musicians from the USA for tours outside of Asia).

They have over 60 LIVE songs/performances and each one is different. They are fearless exploring many genres and have the respect of the legends of Metal such as Metallica, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Judas Priest and more.
Avoid Glastonbury LIVE performances as the sound production by the BBC (who was in charge of that festival did a terrible job - mics not turned on, incorrect volume levels, etc.)
Suggest reacting to these HQ Pro Shot videos of LIVE performances for a start.

Yui Mizuno left BabyMetal in 2018 due to health reasons and at their concert in Yokohama on April 1 it was announced that a permanent third member Momoko Okazaki (who is also a graduate of Sakura Gakuin and has been appearing with them LIVE since 2019 after Yui's departure) has officially become the third member.
Their new album in my opinion that released March 24 is amazing with so many different styles.
