Thanks for the interesting video. Cam belts (especially in oil) get bad press, so interesting to learn that timing chains don't always last forever and can give you a problem.
I'd rather have a cambelt, even if it runs in oil, than a timing chain nowadays, as parts are cheaper and it's designed to be replaced so less on labour. Even on this, which is a relatively simple change, it's going to be £700.
Nice video, very good and easy to follow the steps, im might buying a i20 with skipped chain. This video shows approximately how to fix it, unless any valves is ruined 😱. Nice job!
Handy video, walks you through it nicely. Can you get away with not emptying the A/C? was the exhaust cam aligned? if you pause at about 2:22 it looks to be off, or is this just a trick of the light/angle?
Hey mate, is it okay to leave the original sprockets in? I am trying to get a timing kit for my i20, and its hard to find a decent brand kit that comes with the sprockets!
hi baz, do you know where to buy the timing chain kit for this? do you reccomend a specific brand or do you reccomend a specific place to buy them from?
Is it just a stretched chain though? With the Picanto I was doing, chain was stretched but the hydraulic tensioner was jammed, not allowing it to tension the chain.
@@bazmeredith yeah I suppose. My tensioner was in the new position, as it were. I wriggled it and it snapped out tight. Chain was stretched at least 8mm against the new one.
Nice job, looks like a fun little car to work on. My Saab 9-5 apparently needs the engine out to do a chain - any experience with them? Some people roll in a new chain but the plastic guides would be my worry...
Hi. I am in process of changing head gasket of this car ( Hyundai i10 1.2 year 2012 ) Could you please let me know the torque spec for following components: Head bolts, camshaft caps, timing chain cover , crankshaft pulley bolts and engine mount ( chain side ) . Many thanks
hi baz, i have an i10 that is throwing up a p0014 and a p0011 code. i have checked both the cam position sensors and they seem to be working fine. do you have any other ideas what else it can be

What was the milage on this car?
Great video, this will help me when I do one in a few weeks time. Much better than just looking in the black and white haynes manual.
Great little jobs
Should the variable Cams not be changed along with the rest of the timing chain kit
When you get the p0014 than yes

Deffo stretched chain.. you can see in this video the tensioner was out and I pushed it back in

Hi mate, what's the cost of the chain replacement ?
6-700 ish plus vat
@@bazmeredith Thanks mate 👍
What's the part number for the chain
how muck slack are you supposed to have at the top of the chain. i removed the valve cover and there was some slack at the top.
Very minimal to nothing, any play and you'll get fault codes
Hi, did this car come in as a runner or non runner

They suffer with timing chain stretch
thanks for your help baz. much appriciated
@@bazmeredith
hey, how much did you charge for this?
I don't deal with the pricing of jobs unfortunately
@@bazmeredith ah ok, but if you could give me a ballpark of approximately that would be sublime :)
what happens if it never gets changed?
Whats the timing chain part number
why you took the ac out if you didnt need to dismount the ac kompressor?
Take it you didn't notice the hp pipe removed from by the timing cover to gain more access
Whats the noise after start (ticking)

Hi there I have a 2014 Hyundai i10 with a p0011 code
Solenoids are working
Changed the timing chain kit and still misfiring
Any ideas ?
