okay, how can we say “it didn’t look like scottie was playing well” riggs? -6 first day, friday and saturday were brutal conditions, wind gusting up to 40mph out there. remained at the top of the leaderboard. goes out and blitzed the competition on sunday to win by 4 strokes.. he played amazing, all weekend. distance control? pretty tough to control distance in those conditions friday and saturday. not one round over par. hasnt shot over par all year. collin, max, ludvig and aberg all had to go out and play their best, just to hang around. hojgaard caught fire and immediately fell out of contention. scottie dominated the weekend, and played AMAZING golf.
I agree and I think the opinion of "Scottie wasn't playing that well" comes from watching and focusing mostly on him, ignoring the fact that pretty much everyone was getting destroyed by the conditions over the weekend. Staying even through the worst was playing extremely well compared to the rest of the field.
Yes Scheffler stole the show, but people don't realize how fresh Aberg is in the PGA tour and how solid his performance was. This kid has the guts to win a lot of majors, I think he might be Europes best player in 2-3 years.
Don't see how people call Scottie boring. Different groups of golf mates talk about him all the time, when he is on the broadcast it's hard to look away. He's the opposite of boring IMO, love watching him play.
CONGRATS TO SCOTTIE! DOMINANT PER USUAL! tell frankie to get off his phone on the podcast, shits so irritating. attention span like gen z 16 year old girl.
These guys sure spent a lot of time sucking off Tiger. Oh if he wasn't injured he'd win every one. Tiger could be perfectly healthy and he's in his late 40's out of his prime, odds are he's not getting any more wins even if he didn't get in that car accident. It was fluky and kind of amazing the win that he managed to get in 2019. Everyone crumbled around him and he was left standing (still impressive since Tiger was out of his prime), but beyond that his days were looking pretty numbered... maybe and I mean maybe he would have been able to grind together another victory. And to me it was impressive that Tiger didn't feign injury and completed this tournament as opposed to his other tournaments where he quits every time he starts to play poorly. Tiger puts so much pressure on himself that he needs to feign injury to offset it, but this time Tiger accepted defeat and took a loss like a champ in character. The quitting nonsense... if he were to quit again he shouldn't even be allowed to play anymore... they of course won't do that because of his draw, but props to Tiger for completing this tournament. It was an impressive Tiger character growing moment. These guys think it was demoralizing, meanwhile they're in support of Tiger quitting when he plays bad. I don't blame Tiger for talking heads like this but after hearing guys like this play into the injury nonsense it gets nauseating, which I realize isn't tigers fault. These are things as a golfer you gauge before you play and if you're so bad at reading your body that you're unable to determine if you can complete a tournament to the point you quit 3 tournaments in a row that's a caveman degree of stupidity... I of course am not stupid enough to think that Tiger is that awful at reading his body... I theorize it's just difficult for someone who's so insanely competitive to take a loss, so they need to feign and or blame injury. Often times when real injuries happen on the course it's not uncommon for players to be in or around the lead when they have to quit (like when Zalatoris had to quit in the Fedex cup)... with Tiger it's always when he starts to play bad and he's done it for most of his career.
In reference to Day's baggy pants. The tight pants are the trend that boggles my mind. Sure your pants aren't going to be flapping in the wind but it's gotta be so constrictive. It's actually gotten better recently... 3/4 years ago the majority of the field looked ridiculous with those skin tight pants. Ashkay Batia freaks me the f__k out. He looks like something you'd see during a bad acid trip.
The Masters should lean into the fashion thing. Require everyone to wear white, like Wimbledon. Or navy on Thursday, white on Friday, black on Saturday, red on Sunday.
Instead of being underwhelmed and saying Tiger's score was embarrassing - you should focus how it was progress on last year and an impressive record broken. 72 holes in the bank for the next major so we wont have to hear all broadcasters repetitively say "well he hasn't played 72 holes in X amount of time" bore off and just appreciate him being there still!
Tiger winning in his era was like Gretzky scoring on goalies that don't even go to their knees. Scottie winning now is like Ovi scoring on these goalies with massive pads and proper techniques.
Somewhat of a new fan here… Does Frankie always talk about the Islanders multiple times every episode? Will he keep talking about them after the NHL season ends?
Idk what event yall watched. Scottie hardly missed a shot over the weekend and if he did it was more of a bad bounce off a green leaving him in trouble. Dude hit it on the right side of the hole all weekend and played boring golf. Dude was a killer
Ads every 5 minutes is getting ridiculous. 2 hour episode takes 3 hours with all the ads just get back to someone reading an ad. I get you have to make money but the volume of ads is ridiculous compared to other channels
Bryson finished top 6 at The Masters using a set of irons made by a 3D printer......that's a bigger game changer than he's being given credit for. Why he didn't just use the Ping irons that he shot 58 with I'll never understand.
Golfers seem to struggle with work/life balance once they have a family. I think the rest of the PGA Tour players are just as excited about Scottie having a kid as he is. :)
No one seems to want to say a single bad word about Max. He said he has that dog in him on Saturday afternoon, doubles 12 then steps up and takes 3 wood off 13 before laying up. Shot 73, 73 on the weekend. Sans dog
Coming from a guy who had a spinal cord injury and my spine is fused both in the front and back you have days when you wake up and you literally can’t walk or stand straight without pain. You can’t understand it until you’re truly injured for life. Your new 100% may only be 60%. Give the guy a fucking break man
“His distance control wasn’t great” 40 MPH gusts and the greens were playing faster than ever before. He won by 4 shots and almost made an eagle on 9. Thank god Riggs is a “4 handicap” that’s the only thing saving him…
Truly enjoy this podcast, long time listener. I’m not necessarily a Zach Johnson fan, but to his defense @Riggsbarstool cut his comment short. ZJ (if you don’t know you can’t afford one) did say, and I’m paraphrasing, “if I did say it, I assure you I was saying it to myself and it wasn’t directed toward the patrons”.
My biggest take away from this week was how hard the course played over the weekend. How many rounds in the 60's Saturday? Tiger shoots 82! The course played more like a US Open rather than a typical Masters. I think the course/greens got away from them. The greens are were too firm and fast for shots hit in from these new distances. Overall kinda a let down for me.
Tiger is not a back surgery away from contending in Majors. His fused back is what it is and it's taking a beating each and every swing because his legs no longer function. He can play a round or 2 but playing 72 holes over 4 days just isn't in the cards anymore.
Tigers golf game is there? Only his driving and chipping looked good. Couldn’t putt to save his life and couldn’t hit an iron either. Was middle of the fairway every hole basically and was missing greens left and right
The point about Ridley taking DJs 20u personally was interesting. That's ego, hubris, whatever you want to call it that leads to this notion that courses need to be hard to be respected. BS. As a viewer, a 200 yard swing, looks the same as 160 yard swing. Viewers like birdies and eagles. I still don't understand why they want to roll the ball back either.
Loved hearing the boys had a good time with Compton. Thought the "beef" was incredibly lame Also, Chiclets just dropped their sandbagger with Bussin. Great video but kinda crazy those guys got together for a vid before Fore Play

LIV only 13% of field but still 30% of top 10...did okay I think. I have 3 simple suggestions to normalize golf: - The Majors can collectively stop/mend the split with one simple decision: Just invite the top 20 golfers on LIV to all the Majors...easy as pie, and fair. - Tours stay separate and it's up to a tour to make their tour more attractive to keep or attract golfers...there is enough space for other tours and everything golf doesn't have to be by and for the PGA. Golf is a world sport, not an American sport...and the PGA must accept that. And when they do, PGA and LIV sit down and agree to create a few tournaments to compete against each other and this toxic golf situation can turn into a healthy golf competition...golfers happy and most important, golf fans and supporters happy! - Scrap Presidents Cup and replace with PGA vs LIV Cup every 2 years...and keep Ryder Cup between America (PGA) and Europe (DP Tour).
Frankie calling Bryson weird is the definition of the pot calling the kettle black. lol!

Shout out to immelman for getting the saddle reference on air for ya trent
Completely agree still a great tourney. People r being too picky- 4 tied in the final round was awesome.
Congrats to Scottie and Ludvig too. Ludvig had three fewer strokes than Scottie in rounds 2, 3 and 4 combined. Not bad for his first major.
Did you mean Ludvig had 3 more strokes ? Ludvig 212 , Scottie 209...If he had 3 less he would have been leading the tourney on Sunday at -10...
Scottie was 5 under par for the last 3 rounds and Ludvig was 8 under par for the last three rounds.

I my first thought on the "note" that Tiger passed to Shipley is that it was Zyn.
I was really worried Trent was going to defend Zach Johnson. Glad to see common sense.
Tiger will be back. The course played crazy tough and he's not in tournament mode yet
