Great video! I think a lot of us who still like to read books feel the same: no matter how good other forms of media become, there is no substitute for the power of human imagination, and that’s where books have the edge.
Hitchcock once said that he was not interested in adapting the great works of literature to film because what makes those works great often can’t be translated into such a radically different medium like cinema, not without a major loss. He said there was nothing he could hope to add to what was already written by Dostoievski in Crime And Punishment, for example.
Oh yes that's absolutely true. I didn't know Hitchcock said that, but that doesn't surprise me from so great a mind. Crime and Punishment is one of the most accomplished books in all-time literature. For sure it's just impossible to add or improve anything in it. Thanks for your great feedback.
But what about audio books :) Pros and cons from movies and books. The books story but can be passively listened to depending on what it is, but nothing to feel in your hands and can be ruined by a bad narrator or made better.
Yes i love books since i read Harry Potter then after watch the first movie version i just dont want to watch it anymore 😂😂. They cutted so many scence and story behind make it not feel lively anymore.

That's it. Thanks for your feedback Mike!
Totalement d'accord ! La lecture d'un texte engendre une profusion d'images mentales alors que le visionnage d'un film ne mobilise pas l'imagination.
the video was soothing and poetic
thanks
I realy love the fact that the books you used in your video was tolkien's !
Sure, and it's not the first nor the last to feature them ;)

@@AgeofInkIndeed!
Happy you liked my comment.
What music did you put?
Wagner opera, Parsifal
@@AgeofInk Thank you. ¿So, it is fair to assume you have a taste for classical music?
@@ulisesdemostenes7074 Absolutely!
Russian localization of Hobbit looks beyond amusing 😀

Excellent question that I totally overlooked. Need to include that in a sequel video! Thanks a lot

Très bonne remarque Cédric, j'y penserai la prochaine fois. Le support physique et non numérique conserve bien des avantages...

How are they more powerful then hands, when you need those hands to write a book?
