I’m 65 years old and have been making biscuits and chocolate gravy the way my mom did,but you’re way was a lot better and less messy. You make it look easy the way you make each biscuit but I’m getting the hang of it,great recipe.
I remember chocolate gravy & buttermilk biscuits when my neighbors invited me to have breakfast with them early in the morning when I was 5,& 6 they were from Tennessee and I loved them and won’t ever forget them Praise Jesus ❤️
I was looking for a recipe for cornmeal gravy and your channel popped up. I watched that video and a couple others and subscribed. Your title “Kentuckyfide” caught my attention at first as my daddy was from Kentucky and that state is dear to my heart. In one video I heard you mention southeast Ky. He was from Floyd Co. your recipes seem to be the old timey home cooked kind that I like. Looking forward to following your channel.
I've been eating cat head biscuits all my life, and I'm 65 years old. The reason they are called cat head biscuits is that they are the size of a big ole tomcats head. Tom is a male cat, and queen is a female cat, just in case you didn't know. And if a cat is spayed or neutered, they are called by another name.
My grandma (ska Nanny) pinched up and rolled her biscuts in her hand, too. I'm gonna have to attempt making these. And hopefully, they won't look like something Ellie Mae Clampett made.😅
When I was younger I went down South for the first time.We were at a breakfast buffet, and a Gentleman told his wife to grab him a couple cat heads. I was told that as I was looking at the buffet and trying to decide which were cat heads, I was looking a little green😅
What part of SE Kentucky? I grew up there as well and this is exactly how my mom and mamaw taught me to make biscuits 40 years ago. We always pat them out but brushed them with hot bacon grease. My mom had her moms "ceramic coated dish pan bowl" in the cabinet with her flour. Not many know what a cathead biscuit is.
You said you were from south eastern Kentucky. My mother in laws family was from Auxier. Donna and Bill lived in Prestonsburg. Margaret and her husband (sorry, can't think of his name) lived in Auxier .

I'm from Kentucky. My Mama made the best cat head biscuits. She did her completely by hand. She had a large bowl with a lid, with her flour in it.
My mamaw had a dough bowl
Why are they called cat head biscuits?
@@joshuap1227 because they were large squeezed out by hand. It is probably just a Kentucky slang word.
