Rode a TC88 for 12 years and a TC96 for 10. Great motors. Never had any issues. Your making me want to buy another one. Can’t wait for future videos on the Springer. 👍
I have an 05 that came with the inherent problem you speak of. I'm diggin the color, chrome looks great. I know you said you don't want a bunch of chrome, but they sell chrome covers for the swingarm which would cover up that unpainted section along with axle covers, it's a whole kit. Just spray the unpainted swingarm section and cover it with chrome. She ain't gonna be ugly.

Certainly must be nice to have someone close to take it to to get it tuned. I would have to travel 3 hrs away to get something like that done where I live. I agree 100% with the comment here of doing some head work and punching it out to 95” it’ll make such a difference with a nice set of gear cams to eliminate the stock cam tensioners. Ride on!! 👊🙌🇺🇸
My friend had a dyno and we nicknamed it the heartbreaker. People used to do all these so called mods and spend all sorts of money , this pipe will add 20 hp this air cleaner adds 5 more hp thinking they will increase their HP only to find out it didn’t it only changed the power curve. You might lose top speed and gain more midrange and vise versa . The most important thing is to get a clean pull from bottom to top . You don’t want any peaks or valleys through the range . When I road raced my power dropped off at 10,000 revs so there was as no need to bring it to 13, 000 redline . It’s great to know how your bike is running and where it’s making its power . But if you go by what they say (HP ) by bolting on some mods you might be disappointed. Good luck with your new ride it’s gorgeous.
John install a wide band closed loop system dynojet target tune. Wide band o2 sensor with the powervistion with the map you have in the soft tail. It will auto a just all the time in any condition. Best. That's what I had to do on my 153 cubic inch m8. Performance bagger. That was the only way that it would tune perfectly 👌 it's the best.
Beautiful bike! Love them old twin cams. Don't wait too long on the cam chest. I learned the hard way right at 17k and had to do a full rebuild. Ride safe and enjoy that beauty!!

Bike looks sweet! Back in 2003 I gad a TC88 that we put S&S 510G gear drive cams in. It gave it 84hp and 90tq, ran and sounded amazing. Also it eliminated the cam chain tensioners so better reliability. I put over 100k on that bike with no issues. See what Mike thinks about that.
My bike pops a lot when I get off the gas too. I should get it Dyno tuned too. Might have to take it to cycle works in Pa. But your right it does sound cool lol
For this style bike, it’s old school, I would put something like the burly tall sissy bar with a small pad on it. Gives it that classic old school look. My Sportster 1200 custom 💯 03 is set up like that. Similar color and love it.

I'm also looking to do a cam and cam chest upgrade including a high volume oil pump. They make packages. I'm looking to do a fuel moto cam chest and woods 222 cam. Good luck, she is a beuty.
Ya go with the sissy bar…doesn’t seem like a long haul trip bike but a couple of days trip bike that should be fun to do…maybe soft removable saddlebags of some sort …
Is interesting, the dyno tune. It looked like he had exhaust gas probes in the pipes...not so easy to do with a 2->1. Back in the days when we used exhaust analyzers in automotive, there were different goals but mostly was to get the CO2 as high as it could go under normal operation. Are those probes just being used in place of wide-band O2 sensors? I bet that bike has no O2 sensors anyway...just a map fixed on air density, throttle position and temperature.

Looking into like 07-08 screaming eagle twin cam is a 110 and prices aren't bad. For about a grand, maybe two that engine will make like 115hp and 120tq. Change two teeth on pulley and it'll keep up with just about any new Harley😂

Just something about the Springer 👍, A Good/Honest Mechanic is priceless. Next upgrade for the Bike, is get rid of the Spokes, cause a flat will ruin your Ride, and everyone else Ride. Forget about the Classic look Bullshit, and get rid of the Spokes.

That bike is an absolute gem , a lot of bikes come & go but this one is a keeper, Twin Cam 88 is s great motor, I love mine
It needs a 95" kit with a little head work to make it perfect !
My 88" with the 95" has 105hp with 105 torque.

A couple of things on a 22 years old bike. Plug wires and fuel filter should be replaced for peace of mind. Looks great. Nice ride.

I have a 2004 FXDLI, power commander, reinhart duals and a high flow breather. After dyno tune 79.57 hp 95.23 full torque. Everything else is stock.

You need to have a screamin’ eagle hydraulic cam chain tensioner plate upgrade kit part# 25284-11 is a must for the 88 motor

Harley-Davidson makes caps for the header bolts, chrome ones also. Cam chain tensioners should be changed too brother. I had them done on my bike.
