Thank you for your service John! What a thrill to fuel jets! The story behind the Springer is so cool and fitting. The Captain America helmet completes the outfit! I love it! 😊
I love your personality John and the love you have for riding, your friends and family and your subscribers. I’m 67, retired and plan on riding till the end. You don’t stop riding when you’re old, you get old when you stop riding! And I love the helmet, probably going to buy one myself! Thank you for your service. 🫡
Interesting story. Thank you for your service. My Dad is a retired Air Force Colonel who flew the refueling planes in Vietnam, and I was born in Okinawa, Japan while he was stationed there. Great helmet!
I’m a retired Marine. I was stationed in Okinawa, aka the rock. Harley Davidson has a military sales program with the military exchange on some overseas bases. Often times guys/gals would purchase a Harley overseas at a great savings and have it shipped to their next assignment. Just as some guys/gals were able to have their hogs delivered to them o’seas and enjoy riding them on the rock. A buddy had his delivered in Okinawa, a heritage classic, and would park it in his living room during inclement weather. Thanks for your service… That’s a nice bike.
If I could thank all service men personally I would. My father was in the "Korean conflict". It was the Korean war basically, He was an airplane mechanic, and also did test flights for mechanical issues. So proud of my father, he is also the reason I love motorcycles... He "loved" "all the big boy toys.... Lol He raced dirt track stock cars, rode motorcycles and snow machines. So cool your springer was ridden in Japan, what a great story!
Nice bro... I'm an Airforce Vet too. Served 93 to 2000. Was an fues system mechanic. Worked on the 135, kc10, B52 and ended my career on the C17. was in Okinawa Japan probably in 97... Loved it and missed it. Cool story man
You really are the REAL DEAL. I could listen to more of your military career. I think the new helmet reminds me of Peter Fonda in Easy Rider. Now that's COOL!
Awesome video John!! Thank you for your service 🇺🇸💯👊🏻!! You really are an inspiration to others. Absolutely love the helmet. Keep up the great work brother, can't wait to see the new seat 💯🤘🏻
I was in the Air Force as well. I did 20 yrs and retired. I bought my first Harley Davidson sportster a 1999 custom when I was stationed in Guam. Be safe and that's a beautiful bike!
Wow. Great to see that you followed my tip to get the Easy Rider helmet. Indeed you can not go wrong with this one. Super video. Love this serie and your history with the air force.
Enjoyed the story on the bike very much. Have no reason not to believe it. Would be no reason to make up a story like that. I Also enjoyed you sharing what your job was in the service. Thank you, sir, for your servic✈️🛩🛫 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
Many military guys brought bikes back from Japan. I was in the Navy station in Japan and brought my 69 CB750 back with me to the states which I still own today. How cool is that...
AWESOME STORY...THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!!!! love your helmet. I was thinking as you were opening it up, I bet it's stars and stripes. Hmmm....Easy Rider, Peter Fonda , Stars and Stripes helmet, almost a Springer, LOL
Yeah, I was stuck there on the island for about three weeks because our number one engine swallowed about 20 pink flamingos and wasted the turbine What a paradise
I spent 15 years in Japan and had three different Harleys while there. The FLHTK im riding now I had in Japan. Rode to Mt Fuji for bike week called blue sky heaven. Awesome riding in Japan.
I still have my Harley t shirt from Okinawa from 1992! Pretty cool that it says Harleys in Hondaland! I wanted to buy a Harley when I was stationed in Iwakuni Japan with the Marines, but the cost to ship it back was to much for a lance corporal!
That was a great story. I truly wish that all young people would do some military from the age of 18 for at least 3 years. The travel and duty experiences would be so valuable and some may choose to do a full career. Thank-you for your service.🫡
Very cool story…. Real Nice helmet. Very near perfect match. And Fitting for the bike. Also. I’m glad the modular. Worked out for ya. I wasn’t too sure about the Stroban either. But it does bring attention to drivers when you’re hitting your brakes. That’s why I chose to leave the strobe on. U get Noticed!!!!
Great story, enjoyed it. Love that helmet too. I got a couple of the daytona 3/4 helmets. They've great. Now Sandy should get the football helmet like Jack Nicholson wore in easy rider! 👍
Love the helmet & the great background story on the bike. I’m so much enjoying this new old school bike, probably because I have a similar bike, same color, 05 Superglide TC88, your enthusiasm for this bike is intoxicating & I can relate as they’re awesome bikes, safe riding!
My 2000 Road King came to me with the rear signals converted to stop/turn/tails with red lenses. Pretty cool. Flying gas station, I appreciate you 👍. Sweet helmet lolol and neat backstory.✌️
I was on the Midway in 82 stationed in Yokosuka. We were able to buy a Harley or a Honda from the BX. None of us couldn't afford either one so we would go in and sit on them and just dream !!
In the 70's we used to hang out with USAF guys when ever they flew into RAF Lakenheath in the UK. They flew B52's and in one of the bomb bays they would always strap their Harley's.. So cool, used to get about 20 civilian guys rock up into the base with little security (seems unbelievable now) hang out with the crews and ride off together. Crazy times 🤘
As of this comment, there are 200 before me. So I don't know if this has already been shared. If you double-check the instructions for the Smart Triple-Play module, those two "on/off" switches are meant to sync the rear lights up with the brake light. With the bike off, both switches start in the OFF position. When you turn the bike on, you put both switches in the "ON" position. THEN you turn the dial to match the brightness of the running lights with the brightness of the main brake light. When they "match" you press the brake lever. After that, you turn the dial to one of the numbers, each with a different flash pattern. The bike is looking fantastic! That is a great story to accompany the bike! It would be awesome if the first owner contacted you through social media!!! I was in Bosnia-Herzegovina all of 1996-Operation JOINT ENDEAVOR. I was in Germany in 1997-98. I returned to the CONUS in January 1999. OH MAN, I LOVE THE HELMET!!!! THAT'S MY JAM!!!!
Great story. That helmet is iconic, but if you start wear the shield across your back, I'll you've lost it. Lol. Seriously who doesn't love Captain America. Am I right?! Keep comin, I'm rootin fer ya!
I have a T-shirt from the Harley Dealer in Baghdad Iraq in 2003. Harley runs bike sales through Aafes. Their selling point is the vehicle is "Tax Free". What they don't tell you is when you get it back to the states and register it you pay the taxes on it then. But yup, we had a couple guys buy their Harleys in Iraq and the where waiting for them when they got home. Guys were buying bikes in Iraq and picking them up in Germany where they were stationed. So the first owner most likely bought the bike through the Navy Marine Corps exchange on the island.
I would have bought you a beer at Kadena AFB....but we marines werent allowed in there... 😛. I can imagine that HD tearing up the tollway on the Rock.... I would bet he had it as part of his household goods...its the one benefit you got if you were stationed on Oki accompanied (3 years) that you could actually get a motorcycle to be considered part of your household goods and shipped there...at least back then...I was on the Rock for 94/95 but I was unaccompanied so I only did a year...and since I was unaccompanied I didnt get to ship household goods. I am surprised he didnt sell it there in Oki, as that bike would have been worth at least double or even triple what it was worth in the states...
I was stationed on Okinawa in 1991, MCAS Futenma. As Marines Kadena Airbase is where went to have a little fun and raise hell in the E Club there. That is when we weren’t going out in town to do the same.
I commented before about a bike name, but now after hearing your story about you being a fly boy. This bike has big wings on the tank and it is blue, I believe you should name it Blue Angel, just like the Navy's Blue Angels!
When I was in the Navy the carrier USS Kittyhawk was getting forward deployed to Japan, they loaded up a bunch of Sailors and Marines cars and motorcycles to take to Japan. You could also buy Harley Davidson bikes and domestic cars through the military auto source and save big money when forward deployed to Japan and the middle east.
Awesome bike ✌🏽 Love the helmet I have the same pattern, but made by Torc. That’s Kool a Marine owned it before that makes you even kooler 😂 being a USMC Vet myself 👍🏽✌🏽Love the content keep it up bro 😎
John, very cool story, and the helmet is perfect for the bike. How many miles on the bike and how much $$$ did you buy it for? I'm actually going to pick up a 2005 Deluxe in the morning here in Missouri. I've always loved the two-tone colors and the retro look. 12K miles on this Deluxe and in mint condition..
Thank you for your service John! What a thrill to fuel jets! The story behind the Springer is so cool and fitting. The Captain America helmet completes the outfit! I love it! 😊

@@CYCLEFANATIX haha, it was paradise for the 1st 3 months…kinda run out of things to do pretty quick! Still beautiful water and weather!

You need to get the American flag swing arm caps for this bike too 🇺🇸
Peter Fonda Easy Rider helmet ,run turn brake should also have equalizer in it for leds no need for other stablizer
Love the story. Perfect helmet for your new bike
Thank You for your service, your story is very interesting. Any odds that you might of refueled Sandy in a joint mission back in the day .......
You never know
I Know a vet that bought an HD at the PX in Japan. he had it shipped back to the US with him.
I agree you should name it Captain America. I was in the USAF 92-96 as a crew chief stationed in Charleston SC

Also look into Shotgun Shock air ride for the rear👍🏻
Cool story behind the bike, definitely needs an awesome name!

Interesting thanks for the information
It 100% works i did it on my son's sportster
I have to say that I feel a lot more safe at stop lights with a strobe pattern. Had a few close calls. None since I turned on the strobe.
Great choice for a helmet.
