Why not get a surrogate then? wouldn’t that be easier? it would be your husband and your genes but you don’t carry the baby so you can keep doing your career and then when the child is here y’all can set up a routine I mean if you were willing to help with an outside child and love an outside child then this would work and cause less drama
Tami doesn’t want to use her eggs at all. So him finding someone to have kids with would be the only next option.
With that being said she would have to actually be a mother she doesn't want to be a mother to another kid she don't want the responsibility she wanted him to have a baby with another woman and that woman cares for the child she just being a child life because her husband is I think she's stupid and I think that's her way of wanting to get out the relationship

I hope she’s okay because she looks ill. Something seems very off about what she’s saying. People pay others to carry their child all the time, without their spouse literally connecting with the person on a physical level…it’s done in a lab! Then she says she’ll help raise the child and coparent but it doesn’t have to be that way if they set things up correctly, legally. Does she just not want to be a full-time mom because it sounds like she wants him to coparent with another woman! So I’m wondering why she doesn’t want to try and use her own egg (maybe she can’t).

Most if not all IVF/Gyn in the US would not recommend egg retrieval from a 50+ year old woman. She could definitely try the Donor Egg/Surrogacy route though

I think it's the way she's framing this idea that I can't get with. Like why give him permission to go out and get some woman pregnant, then help them raise their child? It just sounds like an unhealthy compromise for a marriage when there's the option for them to find a surrogate and experience that journey together.

This woman has had three miscarriages in this relationship. She really tried to give her husband children. Doing IVF and retrieving eggs is difficult even for a healthy woman and requires a lot of injections and physical and mental struggle. With her health issues we don’t even know if she can do it.
But she loves her husband and knows he wants a child really bad. This is one of the very few times where I understand why she gave him permission to have the child he so much desires. Because it can make you feel guilty. And she trusts in his love which he proved that he had for her when he declined her offer.
I’m not saying people should do what she did. But they should at least understand she has good reasons for her decision.

I think Tami has reached that “dgaf about nothing” stage in her life. I’m 40 and do not care to have another child regardless of who coochie it comes out of. Don’t want to give birth or raise it full time. So that would be the only way my husband gets one. And I wish him well. I’m past that point in my life. And I think she feels the same way.

She said she doesn't want to do the whole egg retrieval process 0:58. In order to do surrogacy, you need to implant the mother's egg and father's sperm into the surrogate and she doesn't want to do that right now.

I think she's telling him take that year or two to see what else is out there.
I say that because my cousin who since passed from cancer pretty much said the same thing.
She was diagnosed less than A year after getting married and told her husband to go be with someone else.
I asked her why and she said she couldn't give him what he wanted or needed anymore and that to watch him lose his dreams would kill her quicker than cancer and she didn't want that burden on her heart.
Although, its something I don't think I could ever do, I understood it.

They remained together until she passed.
Another cousin saw him with one woman, that's how the whole conversation came about. So, as far as I know it was only that one.
But, he remained with my cousin, took care of her and when she passed handled her going away services and allowed family to have input.
Its now been 10 years since she's passed and he is still family to us.
He still comes to family gatherings, he's since remarried and had a son and they're family too.
Its easy for ppl to judge or attack situations they don't know without understanding it and I was that person until, that conversation with my cousin.
It doesn't make you stupid or him wrong, and it also does not diminish the love in that relationship.
But, its trying to make the best decision for both and wanting to see your partner fulfilled even if its something you can't give them.

Unpopular opinion: What in the what? This is what can happen when someone marries a younger person who at the time may say “Oh I don’t want any kids” Jenny Mai perfect example didn’t want kids only to change her mind later. I’m wondering if she’s saying she’s allowing him to have a child with someone in order for there to be no cheating/baby allegations later? Why would you want someone “You love” to share himself in such an intimate way with someone else? Will it be a one time act or will they be in a full fledge relationship until baby is born? Well, Jeannie Mai and her 1st husband were the same age. She just didn't want children with HIM; clearly he wasn't who she saw herself having that life with just to later find that type of love in someone else; not really an age issue. I think Tami just does not want to go through the physical strain; she already has other health issues (diabetes). So for a woman of her age, that might literally be too much physically. DO think it's a crazy idea and it would be better to work it out or to interview a woman to inseminate. Don't need a WHOLE relationship for THAT. Tons of couples do that....I don't know why she's making it into a whole 1-2 yr relationship.

I was making reference to Jeannie Mai adamantly not on wanting children only later to change her mind. Tami’s being quite drastic in her thought process. I don’t want to have a baby with you but I want you to go make a baby with some random then in 1-2 years we can get back together. If this man makes you happy and truly loves you why not try surrogacy earlier on instead of putting herself through having multiple miscarriages? The child would now be possibly 4-5 maybe. When I was married, I told my husband something similar. I told him if I ever got sick and could not perform my wifely duties anymore, he has permission to enjoy himself with whomever. I told him if I died while we were together I would like for him to get remarried and find happiness again. That's how you know a bond in a marriage. It's not about you. And if I ever get married again, I'll say the same.

Let's not forget this is Tami from the Real World LA...in 93. She was bold regarding the decision to abort and shared her journey on TV, which was again, a bold and huge deal for TV at that time. We don't know what she may be going through mentally and emotionally to lead to these kind of statements and decisions now. Just wishing her peace and wellness.
Yes I remember that as well. At the time that was very groundbreaking. I was 13 and loved the show. Tammy was always funny and was always chill with everybody well except David. 🤣 but knowing now what I didn't know then I don't blame her for freaking out about the blanket being pulled off her. She was a sexual assault survivor and him doing that and not listening when she was screaming stop was what triggered her.

@sweets210 You misunderstood what I said. When you are in a relationship with a person married or not, you should have different conversations and children should be one of them. You both should be clear in what you want, whether there are children involved or not. Can people change their mind of course they can, but if a person with children decides they don't want any more then the other person should not pressure them into having more. They should be with someone that wants children. What Tami is proposing is crazy she is going along to get along.

This just seems like it’s asking for trouble. What if after he has this relationship, sits with this woman during a pregnancy, and watches her give birth to his child, he falls in love with that family? Why not just get a surrogate? That way, no one is having an intimate relationship outside of the marriage and it’s a business deal from day one? Same result without asking for drama.

Reality check, there is no reason for her to allow her husband to sleep with another woman, he knew that she could not have a baby possibly. Tami still has self-esteem issues, Reggie is not leaving Tami, she is the one with the money.

I’m so glad her husband said it was crazy and declined. This makes no sense so she wanted her man to find a woman and have a baby? You just don’t find a random person that just want to have a baby. Normally people date and find a person they truly love and see attributes in that person that makes you want to come together and have a baby. This is selfish for the baby and the mother. Why would you want baby mama drama?

For the comments saying I’m glad he didn’t take it because you’d be deceiving the other woman, You don’t have to deceive a woman! There are actually thousands of women who go to sperm banks to have a child on their on - I actually have a girlfriend who did it with 2 kids using the same sperm donor and she’s totally happy raising them alone BUT when her daughter turned 4 she started asking to meet her dad and then she was regretting having to go through so much to try to get permission from the donor for her child to meet him.
It is totally possible to find another woman who is willing to have a child with him and strictly co-parent. Whether they do it the traditional way (which is why she gave him a length of time and explained they needed to be broken up during that time) or they could even just have him be a donor if he’s not comfortable with stepping out of his marriage for that purpose (which I’m glad to hear he’s not because marriage is a special vow).
I think this is extremely selfless of her. I’m glad she opened this door for him and that he now knows it’s there but at the end of the day it’s his choice.
But I was a gestational surrogate. People adopt. People use donors, esp well to do women who don’t want a man messing with their money lol 😂 it’s 2021. There are many options. As long as the child is happy and loved and cared for, the decision is really up to them.
It's different. When a woman goes to a sperm bank she doesn't have to deal with the father, or the father's wife and stepkids. She's already preparing to be a single parent. Surrogates get pregnant in a lab, there's no physical connection between the dad and the woman carrying the child. The child is not her baby, she goes about her business afterwards.
Tami is basically saying she'll give him permission to go connect with a woman and get her pregnant. She's agreeing for him to have a baby mama. What if the girl catches feelings? What if she decides to be the baby mama from hell? What if she and Tami don't get along? What happens if she decides she doesn't want Tami around her kid? It's too messy of a situation. Using a sperm bank or surrogate is not the same thing as being okay with your husband starting a whole new family outside of your marriage. that's actually stupid.

I do not think it's selfless. Selfless would be paying for a surrogate or getting shots and retrieving her eggs and using a surrogate or having the baby. She's smart.
