Moon Moth by Ben Ward listen to on soundcloud ( / ben-ward-moon-moth )
Always loved moths and butterflies. Moths are cooler though imo, i like the variety more.
I don't understand the negativity in some of these comments; the video raises awareness of yet another endangered species and a spectacularly beautiful one at that. We are all stakeholders in the survival of these and other endangered species and are in many ways indirectly responsible for their disappearance. I'd like to thank those involved in making this video for making me more aware of my own environment; ignorance is bliss and you bothered to go out and highlight an issue that was unknown to many.
Well worth the watch. Very professionally researched and put together.
loved it! I had hard times finding a documentary about moths...
Great video! I used to dislike moths until I came across one that had died - I'm not sure of the species, but it was a large one. I looked at in detail and realised how beautiful moths are.
do you remember what color/shape it was?
Thank you. Very informative about a beautiful and exceptional European moth.
Great work on this video, very inspiring
A brilliant documentary! :)
Amazing documentary, and such an incredible looking moth!
I’m 4 years late but this is a great documentary
such a wonderful documentary... i hope you never stop making these
Some people aren't aware of their own body odour they are so ego centred. To step out of the ordinary, individualistic pursuit of financial success to support and simply notice the smaller, miniscule, and unseen is fascinating to me. I find these documentaries and their makers (the researchers, etc) necessary, important and valuable more than the stock exchange, a banker, and a psychopath leading businesses! It takes a human to notice and to care and not many people seem to behave humanly nor humanely towards others: animal, mineral, human, other...
My god they're so beautiful!! I hope the work towards conservation has been started since this was filmed.
This was amazing!! Thank you!!
This is such a beautiful moth! The video has inspired me to do local conservation work as soon as I can.
Great video, many thanks to you for bringing this Beautiful insect to my attention! I am living in Spain and am very interested in learning about the flora and fauna here! ❤❤
Great film very interesting 👍
SO wonderful, and yes awareness and research is key to preservation
WOW! Que increíble! Gran trabajo. Extremely well done! 5 years later - what is the update on this?? Need an extra set of hands?
A very entertaining and instructive docu of a fantastical moth
Wow it's beautiful
Companies knowingly creating some of these awful poisons should be fully held accountable. Climate change is being over used as a factor. Earth has always gone through weather cycles including ice ages. A beautiful moth indeed.
Cocooned, It is postable that the Luna moth could be moving north wards, towards the Alps or Carpathian, or has far north as the Kjolen mountains.
I use to bred Elephant Hawk Moths, because they nearly was wipe out in this part of the south coast UK
I used to work breeding and raising isabellae moths in captivity to release them afterwards, that's when I met Pedro and I currently work in his insect museum (which is in San Lorenzo del Escorial, just to point that you can indeed find this moth in a museum and not only in a laboratory inside a monastery, haha). I watched this thinking it was such a niche documentary about Spanish moths and I was surprised to see that it's oriented towards English speakers. So glad to see our beautiful moth getting international awareness!
Absolutely beautiful and necessary documentary! Very well done!
Un trabajo fantástico que sin duda ayudará a mantener estudios necesarios de nuestras especies. Gracias
Great video. Had me engaged and I am not even into months or insects!
a big låmp for a BIG böi
Exceptional video! Great work!
Thank you so much for this documentary. I’m wanting to become an ecologist and i am planning on getting a Spanish moon moth tattooed on me, as well as other species. I can’t wait to have loads of animals and bugs and plants on me so i can just point to my skin and inform people about why they need to be protected.
ayay!this my thesis, it really help me a lot thank you
What's Pedro's center's name?? I live pretty close to the Pyrenees and I'd love to visit it :)
AWESOME!
moths. FUCK YEAH.
Me in 18:08 :Oh yeah I know exactly what they're gonna show next xD
what kind of light bulb did you use?
i have heard moths are very spiritual, is there any truth to this?
Hopefully they learned to use Mercury Vapor lights from now on. Much more effective. Who knows how many Isabellae moths they missed at the first few locations because they were using dimmer lights.
New information was not presented, this is the same problem affecting the Apollo moth. A regurgitation.
mee goo el
yeah right
just kidding i loved the video wonderful moth mwah
Wait, so there was a female moth in the box that this professor brought that then attracted all the others (the males)? If so, the video is a bit misleading, kind of “let’s wait until we see the first moth with our technique”. Well, you already have one in the box.
Still interesting video though.
Brilliant stuff. But youd get more people if you educated yourself in yhe world economic forum.

Très 🧟😱
Theme of this video is that the species is declining, hard to find, or both. Fortunately, people who enjoy rearing large moths have been able to get and rear this moth. So, I rather listen to breeders over this guy.
Hmm, so many comments on how great this video was. I found it amateurish. Its mistitled. I thought I'd be watching something on the life cycle of the moth particularly the cocoon stage but there wasn't a single reference to that. Of course with the obligatory references to 'Climate Change' and how Man's insecticides are to blame for reducing the incest population. Overall, I'd give it 1.5 stars.
Are you a crotchety old man that wears ugly clothes and complains about the tempurature of your coffee?
Why is the narrator so rude as to mispronounce “Miguel” at every opportunity?
Oh, great. He's rude about “Pedro” as well. Puffed-up little twit!
