“Roots” is described as a historical portrait of American slavery recounting the journey of one family’s will to survive, endure and ultimately carry on their legacy despite enormous hardship and inhumanity. The narrative spans multiple generations, beginning with young Kunta Kinte, who is captured in his homeland in the Gambia and transported in brutal conditions to colonial America, where he’s sold into slavery. Throughout the series, the family continues to face adversity while bearing witness and contributing to notable events in U.S. history - including the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, slave uprisings and eventual emancipation.
Premieres Memorial Day 2016 on A&E, Lifetime and the History Channel.

I think the truth is far worse than presented in the movie. I read that 75% of the slaves died during the 4 months travel by ship from Africa to New York because they were left chained the whole trip in the basement with no hygiene and food was thrown to them on the floor. So they had to eat where they shit, literally.

I can't begin to imagine why humans could treat other humans in such a cruel way. Even sadder is that we have not learnt our lessons for we still continue to be awfully dreadful towards each other in most cases. The world will be a much better place without humans in it.

No it wouldnt be and I am sure you wont take yourself out first to "make the world a better place". These naive comments from people, who cant see the beauty in us and forget they are also humans are annoying as hell. You dont need to imagine, it seems like you need to learn why we are as we are. Learn about the abuse of free will, ego and evil forces. You will only find answers in spirituality and then you will also figure out why we are the only beings on this planet with higher conciousness and creational thinking. We are here for reasons and we are loved with all our flaws and we are here to learn. We can be the best and worst and only we can even comprehend and admire the world in its beauty and entirety. We are meant to love it and not destroy it but we are fallen beings, to disconnected from the creator. But the radical love, empathy and patience of something higher than us lets us learn, will heal every pain in the end. If you think humans are just soulless piles of cells whos life has no meaning value or purpose, then I would be scared to meet you...cause your decisions when it comes to human life would be as cruel as the ones from these people back then. Your life is just as worthy as anyone elses or worth nothing at all and then you can throw it away right now I guess.

That is not quite true, the British recovered from their fight against Slavery in 2015 i believe.
Europeans mostly had no slaves anymore and the Enlightenment movement made most europeans despise slavery by the time the Atlantic Slavetrade had been established.
The "White" people that you refer to, were considered traitors to their own, much like the Africans that sold them slaves.
There is a famous quote from a British Judge, the americans had no idea at the time, that said
"The air of Great Britain is too pure for any slave to breathe"
That meant that as soon as a slave set foot on British Soil they would be a free man.
The same was true for France, from where the Enlightenment period started, arguably.
Who became rich with slaves were people like Mansa Musa and the Arabs, because they had been doing it for the longest time. And that time is, also arguably, still not over for them, see Quatar.

How they portrayed the dueling scene with tom. Was the most historically accurate depiction of the antebellum South at that time. Ppl hate Tom but that mf was tough as nails. I really didnt think he would survive. My family operated a huge plantation in Charleston and Savannah, this movie was well done. Some of it was alittle over the top , but historically accurate. Definitely was a range of emotions. Must watch if your a descendant of the enslaved from the middle passage. Or even a descendant of the Planters of the antebellum period.

This happened because we (Blacks, Hispanics, and Native Americans who are the real Israelites/Jews) sinned against the Most High God.
Deuteronomy 28:15 "But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:" v48 "Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee." v68 "And the LORD shall bring thee into Egypt again with ships, by the way whereof I spake unto thee, Thou shalt see it no more again: and there ye shall be sold unto your enemies for bondmen and bondwomen, and no man shall buy you."
Slavery is Biblical prophecy during the time of Moses. This makes use the real Jews. The Bible is NOT the White Man's book.
