I have a 98, basically the same. If you didn't have sway bars it would be to tippy in corners. If you want to do extreme crawling or something you could always take out the sway bar.
I like the brake lever on the left side owned a 700 king quad and Yamaha big bear and I couldn't stand the front brake on the right handle bar wear the throttle is. its so much simpler to have the brake on the left hand bar. I love my 700 Polaris, very comfortable, and easy to operate on open logging roads and trails. good for hunting and recreation
Hey I have a 2004 Sportsman 500 and I love it! I have one question though.. When looking for OEM parts there are 2 sportsman 500 vins listed.. one ending in aa and one ending in aq.. Can you tell me which is mine. I have the straight up and down shift pattern. Please help! Thanks
@chevyman1500ful Tough question. Neither are on our list of 'favorites'. Although it depends on the year ATV you're looking at, we love the Suzuki King Quad, Yamaha Grizzly, and Kawasaki Brute Force.
That's the problem with single lever braking systems! On something like a King Quad, you can keep your thumb on the throttle, a right hand on the front brake, your foot on the rear brake and shift with your left hand. So basically a left hand shifter gives you the ability to keep a hand on the throttle and brake while you shift.....
Hi sir, I've been watching your review for a few years now and I would like to know if you will you do a review of the sportsman 570 EPS? I look foward to hear your opinion on it.
@1728jeff7928 Let me put it this way: The Grizzly power steering is better (not over-powered). It has a better 4wd system that allows you to chose the mode you prefer. It has dual brake controls. It has a better transmission. It is more reliable. The Sportsman is more comfortable and cheaper.

Sadly, as we dumb down the controls for a machine we also dumb down what is required to operated a dangerous and potentially dangerous machine.

@colemancummings6 Check the listing of 2005 ATV tests on our website. Every video is categorized there.
But with the shifter on right side maybe it is more safety so you don't give it throttle when shifting to early or what not

Some manufacturers use the (i) to refer to Independent - as in independent suspension.
@zmattos00 I believe we do but we just haven't gone back that far on our videos yet.....
i would love to test fourwheelers for you guys
@zmattos00 We won't have ours up for a couple more months - sorry.
I know but there will always be those people no matter what
@colemancummings6 I'm not sure ;-) Check our website because everything there is way better categorized.
@PoliceWillProtect The Outdoor Channel from Jan 2000 through Dec 2007. Men's Channel in 2008, and Untamed Sports TV until June of this year.
@1728jeff7928 Depending on tires, the heavier machine will pull more - Sportsman.
@Derek130b Most likely
sportsman vs grizzly what are the advantages of each compared to each other
What channel did your show appear on ? and how long was it running for?
Either one (or a Suzuki King Quad) will make you happy for many years ;-)
New ones are the same. What good is an 'independent' suspension if it's tied together with a sway bar ;-)
IF your choosing between those 2 get the grizzly. Hondas are reliable but have weak motors and average ground clearance
@1728jeff7928 Which ones?
@QsKquikscopers Yeap!
@pcmr57 thanks wanted to know because i dont want to spend 30$ to ride it a day

Not real sure at this time. We are working on a plan as to whether to keep testing ATVs or not.
Ok I see. Thanks for the quick answer!
which can pull more
U guys only have the 03 sportsman 400 on your website
Did you check other years close to that. They are pretty close to the same.

Check our website. All our tests are categorized by year.
Is there a review for the 04.5?
I don't think so. Check our website as everything is categorized there by year.

TV -Test Polaris DIESEL 455CC ??? (1999 - 2001)
All our (older) tests were done when these machines were new. We do not test any older machines.

Sorry, I'm no help...
True and unfortunate.
Those people shouldn't be riding.....
All design flaws in my opinion
