Effing Amazing. He knows exactly where to put in that 7th note passing-tone. Phoebe plays this on a DanElectro '56 Baritone, with a capo on the 4th fret, so our instructor here took the time to learn it and change the fingering so it works on a regular guitar. Thanks so much, Mr. KylesKorner. I'm only part-way through your tutorial, and you've taught much more than I could ever learn on my own. And the chords for the rocky break-down 2nd-half of the song, he nailed it. And those are hard chords! Incredible effort, accurate and complete.
@@KylesKorner It is difficult to get into that tuning though. The tuner I use only indicates sharp notes, and not flats. Is it basically a lower version of Open D?
omg thank you absolute legend for the string numbers during the picking part!! thats always the hardest part for me to pick up on!! amazing thanks so much
Somewhere in Germany, but I can't place it Man, I hate this part of Texas Close my eyes, fantasize Three clicks, and I'm home When I get back I'll lay around And I'll get up and lay back down Romanticize a quiet life There's no place like my room But you had to go I know, I know, I know Like a wave that crashed and melted on the shore Not even the burnouts are out here anymore And you had to go I know, I know, I know Out in the park, we watch the sunset Talking on a rusty swing set After awhile you went quiet, and I got mean I'm always pushing you away from me But you come back with gravity And when I call, you come home A bird in your teeth So I gotta go I know, I know, I know When the sirens sound, you'll hide under the floor But I'm not gonna go down with my hometown in a tornado I'm gonna chase it I know, I know, I know I gotta go now I know, I know, I know Driving out into the sun Let the ultraviolet cover me up Went looking for a creation myth Ended up with a pair of cracked lips Windows down, scream along To some America first rap, country song A slaughterhouse, an outlet mall Slot machines, fear of God Windows down, heater on Big bolts of lightning hanging low Over the coast, everyone's convinced It's a government drone or an alien spaceship Either way, we're not alone I'll find a new place to be from A haunted house with a picket fence To float around and ghost my friends No, I'm not afraid to disappear The billboard said, "The end is near" I turned around, there was nothing there Yeah, I guess the end is here The end is here The end is here The end is here The end is here Thank you for the tutorial!! Here the lyrics for the people that want to sing with the first part!
I actually came here via the search "I know the end fingerstyle" in the hopes that an Eric Roche/Mike Dawes/Andrew Foy type of verson with the chords and melody was available. Instead it brought me here, which wasn't what I wanted, but now I know the song and in many ways that's even better. I still can't undo my 20+ years of adlibbing picking parts, mind. If any new starters are learning, it's a lot easier to learn good habits than to unlearn bad ones.
Yaaas I was trying to figure out how to get that baritone feel on a standard guitar thanks for connecting the dots! Let's just take a moment to appreciate how damn good open tuning sounds on acoustic guitar (or any guitar for that matter) 👏 this is just what I needed to get out of a music slump.
I’ve been listening to your version at the beginning over and over- it’s SO beautiful. You really add something special to it. Can’t wait to learn this tomorrow! I was too lazy to re-tune my guitar tonight 🤗
Thank you sooo much, man. I'm good at transcribing by ear when I know the tuning, but not when I don't even know the tuning... and it takes long anyway. Reeeally accurate transcription
Great lesson, now I've got to actually practice getting those transitions from having my index finger on the 3rd string to having the pinky on the third string. Practice makes perfect!
Does anyone know what the actual chord progression is. I feel like there are quite a few slash chords and its kinda confusing knowing which chords are in root position and which are in some inversion. Thanks for the awesome tutorial Mr. Kyle!!
Dude, if it's not too much to ask, could you maybe wirte down the tabs for these songs? English is not my first language and it's so confusing when you say to use our fourth finger on the 5th fret of the 6th string lol. Amazing job btw! Thank you =)
Hi!! I dont know how youre currently doing your videos, but if you could like, show a little better which string and chord, or write it on the screen. English isnt my first language and although the tutorial was really helpful, I did struggle to follow it. thank you A LOT for the video!!
Oh man, yeah, that must be tricky. You know, I am just learning how to do video stuff (like I just figured out crossfades and stuff ha), so I definitely don't really know how to write things on the screen but I'll try to learn!
could you put the shapes on the screen like on the fretboard because i love phoebe and know 2 of her songs already but it’s really hard to see where your hands are and im a beginner so it’s hard to just hear what you say and know what to do or sometimes you say to just move what you have but change a finger and then i get lost and don’t know where to play
so you're going from 7th fret on the 6th, 5th, and 3rd (everything else open) to 6th fret on the 6th string, keep the 7th fret on the 5th and the 3rd. that make sense-ish?
Drop D is when you lower the low E string to D. This song isn't drop D it's open Db tuning, strings tuned to Db Ab Db F Ab Db. Open tunings consist of the 3 notes that make up the chord, with the Db flat chord having the three notes Db F Ab. Hope that helps.
The first three chords I got, but your annotation of fingers, frets, and strings is confusing. I can’t comprehend what you are saying the fourth chord is. You’re an excellent guitarist, but the learning format for this song is hard to follow.
