You can't compare 15 crabs and 18. 18 crabs dance wise had surpassed the team coming in. The stakes of becoming a Doll changed that year. Airielle and Camryn set a new standard. 15 was a team of "lT" girls. They gave beauty, style, and grace.
Kayla is the blueprint period! These new fans have no idea. No one was checking for Gabby before she became captain. She was even labeled dry and was moved in position. when Dannie was captain in 16.

A lot of people wanted another person to be captain because she was named captain from the band director . He was fired and his dream for the upcoming season went along with him . . Folks were expecting 15 ( crabs from 15( Shirley , Tailyn and Melody ) ) to be in charge . Some people felt things was unfair ( which it was ) and took it out on the team . 2019 came around and they wanted her ( Gabby ) back as captain .
Dannie prepared all of them so well and Airielle and Cam were the icing on the cake. l mean those two could run circles around the team they joined, hence why they were spotlighted in those field shows. That team came ready with no projects!
I love them both, but People underestimated Gabby in the beginning, with her GRACE, LEADERSHIP AND THE WAY SHE THREW COUNTS, SHE GOT THIS ONE, for me, she embraced everything a CAPTAIN SHOULD BE.
There would be no Gabby without Kayla! She heightened the Dolls and took them mainstream. Dannie elevated it and Gabby was in the midst of it all. She had great teachers and influence.

When KP was captain and not just her other past captains as well social media wasn’t all that it is now. Granted the newer girls like Gabbie for example have to deal with the backlash of social media. So in my opinion, gabbie should be better and the captains after her should continue to get better and better as well. But each captain has their achievements and I feel like one of KP’s was bringing social media attention.

You can use what you have and still “serve the girls”. Some squads don’t debut new counts until mid season. However, if lack of count selection is an issue, then create more. Lemme put it like this no disrespect btw, comparing the two is like comparing Diana Ross to Tracie Ellis Ross two completely different careers but without Diana Ross there is no Tracie. KP made finesse, Gabby just feels like she rode the wave from 2017 and pushed harder to fit in with all the attention the dolls were getting. Did they handle it better than what it could’ve been? Absolutely!!! But comparing the two just doesn’t seem like they’re on the same level because when KP bursted on the scene no one had done anything close to what she’s doing, and everyone followed suit with they’re count selection. She walked so everyone else could run. It just seemed like an unfair battle tbh.
Both deserve their props for sure, but KP holds my attention...Gabby did her thing though for sure

There were other fields shows that KP killed on and the stand battle had all slow songs as examples. But don't sleep on the GOAT S Cole..and DTara had some great seasons after bringing the squad back to life after past captains failed to meet the mark! But these two with the fast changing counts is Life! I hate redundant counts. Sometimes Kp would throw a count once and move on..made them girls work and flow the music!
