LMMS is not bad for mixing/mastering if you are experienced and you know what you do. As most of the effects do not contain any visualizations, it can be hard to use for a beginner who still doesn't have the ear to hear all the details. However, you can of course always download some third party plugins for that purpose. I love LMMS but I changed to FL when LMMS started to crash on my windows 10 and it corrupted some project files I had worked on for weeks. I still miss some of the amazing stock plugins that lmms has.

I want to be able to do this, but I think there's something I'm missing, no matter what tutorial I watch... • Does it depend on the mix to know which effects to use, and in which order? • How much experience does it take to notice the difference between compressed/EQ'd and unchanged? • Why does my mix still suck even after the effects? (It still clips, and/or other elements are sounding off) • At 5:19, what do you need to listen for to know where to place the dot? • What device(s) do you recommend for this process? (laptop, headphones, etc.)
You're probably gonna hate my answer lol but these are my thoughts: 1. Yes it depends, once you know you can hear what's going on in each effect I would suggest switching their order/bypassing them to see what you like best 2. Not sure honestly, it's different for everyone. It feels cheaty to say it but it's something you'll know when you get it. 3. This just comes with experience - If your mix clips, just lower the master fader until it doesn't. Clipping turns a happy signal into a sad decapitated signal lol 4. You're listening for when you can hear a change in the signal. By default a lowpass at 19500ish Hz is a good bet! 5. Honestly all you really need is a computer to make music with and a decent set of headphones and you're all set!
Exactly, f*#$ ProTools, I've been producing pretty dope beats on this platform for 6 years and I've always tried to find a way to equalize, mix, fix frequencies, etc. This video helped a lot, please do more fam.
Mixing and mastering for SoundCloud is the same as mixing and mastering for any other streaming platform! I stopped using SoundCloud just because their streaming quality is awful lol that might be what you're thinking of!
just use the techniques i show in the video :) there are also a lot of videos specifically about mastering on youtube so you can go looking for those as well!
Well, I usually do not do my mix and master that way 🤣🤣🤣 last step is to check with a loudness meter if the song matches requirements for streaming platforms for me, and the EQ stuff you showed here is mixing to me 🤷♂️

You currently can't record audio into LMMS directly, what I usually do is I record everything into Audacity and then bring it into LMMS from there!
