    Very ingenious idea Jake with the removable doors for the IBC totes.

    I think that’s the best tote modification I’ve seen yet . Once I get a free second I’m definitely going to try that on a few .

    Hey Jake. I love seeing the different ways to utilize totes. My front panels are a bit different but I think I’ll try your rotating latch method. I like it!

    Nice innovation, Jake. The only alternative I can think of is to bend the lower vertical bars- one in, one out, one in, one out and secure the top on the outside with a ratchet strap. The only thing that will save you though is drilling and the small expense of nuts, bolts and washers. I like your design though. Speaking of Father’s Day…. Time to get busy, son! 😂

    • @DudeRanchDIY
      @DudeRanchDIY  Месяц назад

      I’ve tried bending the bottom posts and it’s just not very sturdy, the ratchet strap holds it in place but not as well as this design. 😂

    Great video. I ❤it when a plan comes together. Maybe a row of stretch wrap in the middle of the hole would help. I know you have to buy the wrap but just a thought. You’ll get it figured & then you’re off to the races. Keep the videos coming we enjoy them. Enjoy your day.

    Jake, great idea. I think I will build mine from a piece of scrap plywood and hang it on the tote. Or simply put 2 totes cut sides together and sandwich a plywood piece in between. Kiss principle... will see how it works

    • @DudeRanchDIY
      @DudeRanchDIY  Месяц назад

      I’ve never tried plywood but I have sandwiched the grates in between two totes and it kind of worked!

    I’d say for new totes the Lambo door idea we do would be the best! However for totes that are already cut the hinge gate may be the ticket.

      I incorporated one of the braces into an earlier version of my door idea! Also used them in my firewood stand for structural support and rails for slide out shelves for my bundles!

    How about a over size merry go round for the your bins, that holds 8 to 10 ?

    • @DudeRanchDIY

      That would be cool! Unfortunately at the moment I don’t really have space for that! Or the merry go round 😂

  • @TheHobbyShop1

    Love the idea! I was thinking some welded u bolts at the bottom would be easier. At the top instead of the pipes on both sides and all that hardware, use a u-bolt facing up welded to the cage then only one bar/tube like you have to pivot and latch into the u bolt. It would allow you to lift it up and out without having to worry about the wood catching your tube latch on the inside. Just another idea but I think what you came up with will work well regardless. Nice innovative idea man. Love it!

    • @DudeRanchDIY
      @DudeRanchDIY  Месяц назад +1

      I think I’m visualizing what you are suggesting, would definitely work well! My issue with that is having to modify each and every tote though with a u-bolt, and welding galvanized metal in general with the fumes.

    • @TheHobbyShop1
      @TheHobbyShop1 Месяц назад

      I didn’t stop t think about it being galvanized. That’s a good point. If it was a couple you could wear a respirator but on as many as you need, that would definitely be a no go.

    Your row or totes are getting long why don’t you stack them 2 or 3 high to conserve space. It looks like your rate of production will out grow your storage space.

    kinda hard to explain, but if you leave the side piece, up & down bar. cut the bottom of it, then bend a slight offset it would act like hooks. do same on bottom of panel. then you can literally slide the panels in and out as needed. no washers! screws! or extra hardware at all.
