I'm surprised Sneasel took so long to get picked despite the Physical/Special split existing. His stats are better than a lot of the Johto picks before him.
Yeah but also sneasel is built like paper defensively gets bodied by the 1st gym,2nd gym, 4th gym, 5th gym and 7th gym and probably isn't strong enough to 1 hit kill anything

@Jack Walker Chansey does no damage. It's great for nuzlocke, because it doesn't die and you just win the war of attrition. However in this case they race against the clock. So Chansey suddenly becomes one of the worst pokémon.

Its low Atk is the only thing that keeps it down and its poor matchups with the first few gyms would reduce its effectiveness, but it’d be great for the first few rival battles.
Slowbro/king are pretty great 'mons, but if I recall slowpoke evolves pretty late into bro who I'd imagine is the evolution that they'd go for since Bro is usually better than king. Couple that with it being, well, slow when they're trying to race and I think it's a bit more understandable why they held off on him. Gardevoir is my favorite pokemon and is pretty fantastic but I'd probably have held off on her since Ralts is pretty trash and you're stuck with Ralts until lv 20 which seems kinda no bueno for a Nuzlock. She also level ups slowly which would make her even more of a pain in a nuzlock. A pick that I think they shouldn't have overlooked despite kinda going against the fact that they are in a race is Chansey. She isn't a mon that they'd want to actually fight with, but she'd be a good panic button special attack sponge to switch into and maybe save some other more important pokemon. Also once they got to the bottom of the barrel picks Seviper may have been an okay pick since it does have decent mixed offensive stats
Actually hella surprised that Exploud got overlooked. Not that I'd pick him early, but he is a relatively solid Normal-type to have, just in case. Better than some meme picks.
Imo Exploud is kinda dog. It doesn't outspeed a lot and basically whatever Exploud does, most normal types do it better. Rattata, Tailow, Linoone, Tauros
Swellow technically is worse unless they are going for revised stats as well. As if got better over the years. I wouldn't call Exploud a dog though. It's range is extreme, especially as it is a mixed attacker with broad move poll and strong STAB moves. Not to mention the bulk. And it is immune to some of the more annoying moves like Sing, Supersonic, Perish Song and a lot of stat lowering moves. It gets all elemental beams, Hyper Beam and Overheat.
Yeah, and its way better than it normally is because of physical/special split. It can actually take advantage of both its typing and its better attacking stat.
Not if it gets gen 3 moveset. It has nothing aside being the fastest Taunter. Edit: They fully used gen 7 data, but Sneasel's moveset isn't the greatest without some major Egg and Tutor moves. It's worthless aside Taunting Winona's Altaria. You would do better by picking Swinub, Smochum or even Delibird.
Of the mons left over, there's some value picks for sure. Whismer isn't horrid. Grimer is tanky. Early Dustox can be good. Seviper hits pretty hard. Solrock and Lunatone have some value.
Exploud can use Scrappy Boomburst. Extremely damaging neutral hit on everything, since the only gym leader/e4 who resists is Roxanne, who you face LONG before the Whismur line acquires Boomburst.
Draft Nuzlocke race is a really cool format. Been doing them for over a year with some friends on my channel. There are a lot of variations and twists you can do.
@@TeamAquaLeaderArchy We do it a bit different than this video. We draft in multiple rounds throughout the run, by route or groups of routes. We either use the mons that are in the unmodified game, or randomize the game if we want to mix it up. I wrote a Python tool to parse the universal randomizer logs so we can keep the randomized draft pools secret. Sometimes we set specific starters, but we don't set every encounter that would take a lot of time to set up. There are romhacking tools you can use to manually edit encounter tables, but those are usually specific to particular games.
I’m happy to report that I remained thoroughly engaged with this video despite not exactly knowing what to expect This was a cool idea and I’d 100% watch more of just funny cool RUclipsrs sitting down to pick teams from a tier list
If you guys do this again you should assign every pokemon a point value and have there be a max point value. E.g Snorlax is 18 points Corsola is 3 points. And your draft can only go to max 250 points. Theres a popular pokemon format that called draft that is played like this.
This video got a TON of engagement, are you working on doing something similar to this in the near future? I think the draft idea is ingenious and I would love to see how strategy evolves for future races, even different formats or generations. Maybe add bans? Who knows?
Honestly, I think flash fire Growlithe could be a genuine consideration. Fire types have at best niche value in Hoenn, super effective on 7 total boss fight pokemon, but having Flash Fire makes a fire type amazing for Flannery, arguably one of the hardest fights because even a resisted +1 sun stab fire move does big damage and Torkoal can't really touch you outside of neutral non-stab body slam.
Biggest draft steal was that Ninjask going so late. You guys probably don't know the manace of Focus sash > Swords dance > Speed boost > Baton Pass Pass that to a Moxie Salamence and it's basically an auto sweep button
I am struggling to believe that nobody sook meowth or paras in gen 1. Meowth has stab, technician boosted fakeout with a fairly high speed stat and paras has spore and effect sport along with decent bulk
The fact shedinja wasn’t picked round 1 surprises me… retrospect they’re going for speed and don’t have time to look at every opponents teams before battles so I guess it makes sense now.

The reason no one chose Chansey is because this was a Nuzlocke race. Chansey wastes so much time in these races because of its defences. Also this is a hardcore Nuzlocke, so no healing items allowed in battle
So if yall do this again based on who wins and in what order people finish it would be a cool idea to seed everyone and then next draft 6th seed gets to pick a gen and that gen they get to pick first then give 5th seed an option of whats left and do that for the 3rd through 6th seeds with Starter, Gen 1, Gen 2, Gen 3 as options
So seed 6 would presumably be CJ, taking Gen 3 (objectively best pick), then Yaki (Gen 1), Failboat (Gen 2), Jaiden (Starter), Jacob (Extras), Brayden (Nothing)
Okay so up to the end of the Gen 1 Draft. Many good picks are left, like both Hitmons (Lee in particular is really good), Kangaskhan, and Kabuto. Rhyhorn and Ponyta are also good picks. Heck, even Venonat with Quiver Dance could end up a wincon. Gen 2 Draft Pick... Not many surprises here tbh. I will say Solrock and Lunatone are underrated though. Not amazing, but definitely underrated. Also, don't sleep on early game Linoone and Mightyena, though they get outclassed pretty quickly, they offer an early power spike with low level evos, and that's pretty valuable in nuzlockes. Edit: Oh they're actually going back to the picks that got left out, it will be interesting to see if they go for the ones I mentioned. They'll probably rush for Gen 1 leftouts I'd say. Edit: Yep, unsurprisingly, Lee, Chan, Ponyta and Rhyhorn all went quickly. Also, I didn't mention it in Gen 3, but the Battle Armor Armaldo? Legit pick. Edit: So neither Venonat nor Kabuto got picked even after the final drafts. I think either of them are individually better than something like, say, Tangela, but I get that they also have to think in terms of coverage, and types like poison and water are very common, so, it's legit.

It might be a glass canon with poor SpD and HP in both krabby and it’s evo, but with a 105 and 130 Atk stat respectively with a 30% boost to most of it’s lvl up moves, it can be a power house. Only downside is very little physical STAB, but with HM for dive late game and Crabhammer) at 41 for krabby and 56 for kingler (neither affected by sheer force though).
Too slow and frail
Id say that solrock and lunatone not getting picked is quite insane
Protean Kecleon would go crazy
The absolute silence at the non-guts rattata 12:02
surprised masquerain with intimidate and quiver dance wasn't mentioned ngl
Most of the picks and the order they were picked hurts me both physically and mentally…
Cyndaquil going undrafted makes me sad
That was me for Totodile.
Glad to see Edgar Winter dyed his beard.
